4268628 tn?1375041176 Just curious if anyone else in here is a musician. I'm playing in out community band and am struggling and questioning if I should even be playing until after the baby is borne.I am 16 w. Doc said it was ok for as long as I am comfortable. My issue is not breath support, but prego brain in just reading music....like level 3 music, not even level 4 or 5. I'm so frustrated. I love music and normally this music would be minimally challenging.
1334237 tn?1275521425 I am a music teacher and I have a girl who absent-mindedly masturbates with her clarinet during her lesson. I have no idea how to approach this or even if I should. I don't want to embarrass her or get her in trouble with her parents (I don't know how they'd react). This is not the sort of thing music school prepares you for!! Any ideas on what to do?
Avatar f tn I had to give up playing my clarinet til after the baby due to not enough oxygen.to go around for the both of us and the instrument. It's sad. I gave itup about 3 weeks ago finally after trying ans failing. I'm 22 weeks now.
Avatar n tn Haha try playing a wind instrument. I play clarinet in our community adult band and it's getting harder n harder.
Avatar f tn so, today during my jury (applied music final) i was playing my clarinet, and my throat started closing up, and because it was a performance i couldnt stop playing.. but i couldnt breath, and afterwords i could taste blood, could nervousness be the cause of my throat closing? and how do i stop it?
Avatar m tn I played the clarinet for 12 years or so, sometimes hours a day. Out of curiosity I read about this and found some studies that claim that eye pressure temporarily increase during play. Does this IOP elevation mean worsening of myopia?
Avatar f tn He told me that I have repetitive motion injury, due to playing clarinet and writing. 3 weeks ago for finals I typed 3 essays, wrote 7 essays, and played clarinet for an hour. Ever since finals my wrist has been swollen and it cracks whenever I move it. The pain has also increase tremendously, and I can't move my wrist the best. I have been doing OT for a while now and it is not helping, it makes it worse. What do you think is wrong with my wrist?
311765 tn?1206762636 ( those really hurt) When those happen It is very hard to breath. when the pain started I was playing Clarinet. and I could not get enough air to play and it was very pain full. it seem like my lung were hitting a wall!
Avatar m tn I am a professional violinist and recently developed an essential tremor in my bow arm which interferes greatly with my playing. My neurologist tried primidone but it has helped only a little. I asked if he could put me on Inderal which I understand can help with essential tremor. However -- the doctor pointed out that I am already on lisinopril (for hypertension) which, he claimed, ALSO is effective in treating essential tremor.
Avatar n tn Hi, I fainted after playing tennis for about 5-10 minutes. This happened to me years ago while working out in a gym. I haven't done any strenuous exercise in years-- I walk instead of driving, but I am otherwise very sedentary. I am a slender 23 year old female. I have no history of illness. The only possibly related anomalies I have experienced are vasovagal syncope after blood tests, injections etc.
Avatar m tn Yes, I thought it might be something like that. I am a musician (saxophone, clarinet, bassoon) and I have had some neck/back issues as a result. I recently played a lot of gigs (with rehearsals I was playing 12-15 hours a day) with baritone saxophone (the big one) that has always given me issues. I did a lot of coughing with the heavy instruments strapped around my neck and back. Could that have done it?
Avatar f tn Anyways today I woke up felt fine actually felt great went to the park for about 5 or 6 hours was playing basketball and after a bit I felt like I was like fainting almost. Really weird it passed pretty quick but do you think it was more to the exercise? It was beautiful today in Dallas so we went up the park and I got carried away with the game. Just seeing if this is opiate withdrawal or I was just dehydrated and was over doing it.
Avatar n tn Then last week the ischemic colitis diagnose. After playing on the computer I see what fainting and ischemic colitis have in common is blood flow. I don't want my doctors or myself ignoring what to me seems like an obvious similarity. Yet, so far they are saying I am just having bad luck. I have managed to lose 35 pounds and am off my HBP med. My family has a strong history of heart problems and strokes. I don't want to over react but I also don't want blinders on.
Avatar f tn He played high school and college football and substained a concussion playing football while in 10th grade. He also broke his ankle playing college footbal which resulted in surgery and a metal plate was fused to his bones to repair his broken ankle. ER doctors think he had a seizure @ the wheel of the car. I am totally uninformed, am not a doctor and don't think he has eplipesy or seizures. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn This is not the first time she has done this, vomited while playing. But before today it had always been just shortly after eating, like within 30 minutes. Which I can totally understand and I've since then tried to keep her quiet for a while after eating. I'm not baffled by throwing up while playing shortly after eating but 5 hours later?!? She's fine otherwise, still playing.
738075 tn?1330575844 ve always been interested in music - I played saxophone, clarinet, and bass clarinet in school. But after school, I just didn't care all that much, and stopped playing for years. Recently I became interested in - of all things - playing the washtub bass, and found that I actually have an ear and the rhythm for it. So really, playing the stand-up bass is just a way for me to play with better musicians! Nobody's hiring washtub bass players.
Avatar n tn what is fainting disease, my son has fell down while standing. Avatar f tn I wait till my daughter calls for me. Sometimes it's right when she wakes up, and sometimes she plays/sings for a while. My daughter is 2 but she's not in a crib so I only worry about her getting into her drawers and pulling everything out, but she passed that stage now. I'm due in 10 days so it's nice to know that if baby wakes up then you don't have to rush in there to get her out. You can get baby content and then go and get your toddler. Don't feel bad.
Avatar f tn I had horrible timing with my fainting spells last pregnancy. I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done.

1472248 tn?1292611095 My son - 9 y now- had since 3 y, a short fainting. Doctor diagnosis a Benine Rolandic Epilepsy. No meddecines, all is normal since that single incident. He had very good result at school but since last year he is very slow in writting and many times dont finish or even start his work at school. we are wondoringif thismay be in relation with his "brain disorder"... what type of specialist should we consult? thk you.
Avatar f tn Has anyone passed out while pregnant? I had a scare the other day at work. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and it's my first pregnancy. I went to the ER and they ran a bunch of tests and made sure the babies heart beat was ok. The conclusion was that I was dehydrated. Drinking more fluids especially water is so important during pregnancy. They said it's really important to listen to your body. If you need to rest than rest. Lesson learned.
