Fainting while getting up

Common Questions and Answers about Fainting while getting up

fainting

Avatar f tn ve dealt with a lot of dizziness, fatigue, fainting, (or more normally just getting really close to fainting) nausea and vomiting. I told my doctor about this and she thought it could be related to my migraines that I've had for years. My blood pressure has always been normal when the nurse checks it as well as my pulse. But I've become more aware recently how much my position effects my symptoms.
Avatar f tn This could result in a drop in blood pressure once you either sit up from lying down or stand up suddenly. Please follow up with the cardiologist as this can further result in decreased ejection fraction. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

1077135 tn?1267319960 I am dx with an isolated case of MS right now. I went paralysed on my left side in September, everything was normal for two days and then my hands and legs started tingling, and my balance was off. I haven't been the same since. Well I thought I was improving then two weeks ago I woke up to having fainting spells. I am also going numb and the tingling is worse than ever. I am also having a burning sensation in my feet and legs. I also get a tingling, numbing feeling in my head.
Avatar f tn I went in the shower and felt faint, called for my Mum and after a few seconds I did actually faint and lose consciousness. For the next few weeks I was feeling really tired all the time, nauseated and getting bouts of dizziness so I basically spent weeks in bed. Due to being so inactive and hardly eating I ended up in hospital for 5 days with painful impacted constipation.
Avatar n tn d get dizzy, could hear what was going on around me while unconcious, wake up and be fine! But NOW, it takes longer to wake up, and I have NO CLUE where I am or how I got there. On Jan 19th, 2012, my 5 year old son broke his arm, not sure what I was thinking, but I put him in the van and started to drive to the hospital. I had almost NO WARNING before I passed out at the wheel on a busy parkway, crashed 4 times, completely unconcious on the steering wheel.
2086477 tn?1332611994 I do know for a fact that you getting up to urinate since it stimulates the vagal nerve in more than one area (heart, bladder, etc.) and can cause fainting spells. You do need to sit on the side of bed and let your feet dangle a few minutes to help your body adjust. Dangling of the the legs and feet will help regulate the blood pressure and help (hopeful) make less work for the vagus nerve. Do you have all the dangerous items on your way to the bathroom from the bedroom removed?
341190 tn?1295467125 whether I should push forward thru what may be anxiety or lay down and get my feet up to avert fainting. I have no answers but I sympathize and hope u get some advice we can both use. Congratulations on your new grandchild.

Avatar f tn I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done. But if it's just once in a while just try and be safe and bring it up at your next doctors visit.

Avatar n tn And so, there is a lot of research ongoing to determine why vasovagal reactions occur and how to diagnose them. You see, while vasovagal syncope is the number one cause of fainting in children, it is sometimes difficult to identify this as the reason because there is currently no definitive test. This means that some children end up getting a lot of other fruitless tests looking for other causes of passing out.
1659011 tn?1307486147 Make sure you stay hydrated and get up slow. (My medication used to make me so dizzy that I would throw up and pass out all of the time). If you are really concerned about this near-fainting and shortness of breath, perhaps you should talk to your doctor. Good luck!

492921 tn?1321289896 So this afternoon I laid down on the couch I fell asleep so I decided to go back to bed I stood up and walked about 6-7 feet and everything went black and I had to hold myself up on the wall my knees were wobbling and I almost fell over. I know that getting light headed is common in pregnancy when you move from laying down to sitting or standing to fast. It just scared me that everything wen black and I almost fell.
Avatar m tn I just stumbled upon this. Your BP symptoms elevation while getting up is known to be from adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is not recognized by most conventional MD's, rather alternative MD's and Naturalpaths. It does exist, google it. Do you feel tired AND wired? - thats adrenal fatigue.

Avatar n tn Released him went to eat, I had to prompt him to eat he was staring into space, extremely tired and sleepy we went home and he slept till the next day. Woke up all was fine like nothing had happened, he didn't remember a thing that happened the previous day.
Avatar n tn Today it happened in a long line at the store, I was waiting about 10 minutes in line and I started getting woozy and weak and my vision started to black out. I made it to a chair and fanned myself for a few minutes and it took a while to go away. Is this normal? I've heard of the dizziness being common, but my vision really starts to turn black and I get light headed. Both times I have had plenty of fluids and protien in my system so its not that.
Avatar f tn I panicked a bit and pulled the cord to get off at the next stop. Immediately after getting off the bus I ended up throwing up while calling my mother to come get me. I was totally disoriented and had no idea whatsoever where I was. Scared the **** out of me. You could be getting less oxygen to your brain as a result of sleep apnea. My neuro thinks that was a lot to do with my issue. Have you gone for a sleep study? If not I recommend it.
