Avatar f tn Recently during a catch up with family I fainted. Over the previous two hours I had about 4 standard drinks. I had a small meal just before I started drinking. Granted it wasn't a large meal but it was still food. My cousin told me I had a "seizure" when I but I haven't had a chance since then to really talk to him.

Avatar n tn Clearly a neurological event took place, which seems to have been consistent with a petit mal seizure, etiology unknown. Because he is a diabetic one must not assume that the loss of consciousness is due to his diabetes. Normally anti-seizure medications are not prescribed until the third episode, so at this point you need to have a period of "watchful waiting", and schedule him for a neurological work-up to include an EEG.
Avatar n tn Having a seizure after fainting could either be from Epilepsy or from a heart arrhythmia. Whoever this happened to should be checked out by both a neurologist and a cardiologist to rule out either problem soon.
Avatar f tn s around 2000 and was more fainting then throwing up with one time being escalating to a petit mal seizure. Originally, they thought it was neurological... years later they said it was a heart condition. I've had the EEG's, EKG's, MRI's, and a couple others I can't remember the names of... After having a table test, which didn't reveal anything really, the doctor said he thought it was Syncope. However, I've never been officially diagnosed with no real proof.
Avatar f tn I am 27 weeks and had a fainting spell. After I woke up, I discovered I had vomited and lost control of my bowels. Is this ever normal with fainting or is it a sign of something else like siezure? I have had other fainting spells while pregnant but never other symptoms. I am concerned.
Avatar n tn With this fall he hit his head and blacked out After the last fall he now is having seizure like shaking and fainting spells. Sometimes the fainting is with out the seizure like shaking. He has had an MRI and EEG both have come back normal. They have said that he has PCS(post soncussion symdrome). But, none of these systoms match that dignose.
Avatar f tn Also, epilepsy can be a dangerous illness if left untreated, she might have a fainting spell and seizure whilst driving a car or walking along a busy street and so forth. Also, if she does not have epilepsy, then at the very least her doc needs to find out why she's fainting so much, because that can indicate a heart or circulatory problem of some kind, or could even be because of some medication she's already on for some other health issue.
Avatar f tn I would definitely have an EEG done to see about seizure activity. I have had a seizure disorder for the last 26 years. Most of the time mine were absence seizures. Unless people knew what they were looking for, they had no clue that I was having a seizure.
Avatar n tn Cold chills can come from having the flu, or perhaps in your case with the fainting, could be something as simple as you not having enough protein to eat on a regular basis. Protein is like the wood in a fire, it burns and heats up a person. And if you ain't got no fire, you'll get cold. In addition, protein gives you energy, and if you don't have any, you can get pretty weak and light-headed. But there are many reasons why this happened to you, those are just my top two choices.
494976 tn?1302710701 hi there, this is serious, I was told that the main signs of a seizure vs. simple fainting is the jerking and incontinence. PLEASE tell a neurologist ASAP!!! I have possible seizures too but am undiagnosed right now.
Avatar f tn A couple years ago I began feeling anxious about my fainting episodes. Now it is constantly on my mind. I'm always assuming I "might" faint in the most horrible of circumstances. I worry about crossing the street! I have an assistance dog now that has almost completely cured me from my anxiety. Thank goodness! Does anyone else have a fainting phobia?
Avatar f tn Her fainting spells looked like she was having a seizure. After she had several fainting spells, she was tested for seizures but all the test came back negative. About three years ago we find out she has an enlarged thyroid and hypothyroidism. About six months ago, she had a sleep study done because she waking up ever couple hours every night. The study showed that she was having seizures every couple minutes.
Avatar n tn That is more concerning for a seizure! The pain may be a prodrome for a seizure (sometimes those with seizures have symptoms or sensations before the seizure begins, which can be a warning to get down and prepare for the seizure). I would advise your friend to seek immediate medical attention, particularly from a neurologist. If they have specific cardiac tests they want to perform their evaluation, they can pursue them at that time.
Avatar m tn While at the receptionist desk I got very light headed and passed out, hit my head on the wall and put a hole in the drywall. I was incontinent which lead them to believe that I had a seizure after fainting. I had a CT scan which came back good and I'm waiting on the results of an EEG. I have history or fainting or seizures and no family history either.
Avatar n tn I got very lightheaded and dizzy. It felt like I was having a seizure and next thing i remember is waking up on the ground next to the toilet, with a busted lip and the whole right side of my face bruised.
Avatar m tn My daughter (15) has had "fainting" spells. It started with one week where she felt ill and fainted in school. She was out for a good 20 minutes, and her eyes where rolled back - fluttering. She was still "out" when the ambulance arrived. During that week she fainted a number of times (quick breathing and fuzzy periferal vision) and didn't feel like herself. Very bad headache over her right eye. It didn't happen for a few weeks so we thought it was a virus.
Avatar n tn swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mental or mood changes; seizure; severe or persistent dizziness or drowsiness; severe or persistent headache or vomiting; shallow, slowed, or difficult breathing; tremor; trouble urinating; vision changes. Dilaudid All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects.
Avatar n tn Hi and sorry your friend is fainting. This could be due to a variety of things. I would have her go to the doctor. It could be due to high or low blood sugar or blood pressure. It could be related to epilepsy. Those are some common things. I would have her go in to see the doctor right away.
Avatar f tn It could be epilepsy, but the fact that, from the way you mentioned it, the head banging somewhat woke you up does not point toward a seizure because usually when you come out of a seizure, you are confused, extremely tired, and sore. Also, you wouldn't be able to be woken up from the head banging. Although, the fact that the shower nob held up your head by hair would be suspicious of something more than fainting...
Avatar n tn I in the last 5 months have had several fainting and near fainting spells with all cardiac work ups coming back normal tilt table test was normal other then feeling like I was going to faint. Moderate to severe abdominal pain usually after a large or greasy meal.Left eye twitches before and after fainting spells as well as a right sided c-shaped headache that last no more then 20 min and starts behind right eye area.Any help or suggestions would be helpful.
Avatar m tn Not sure if I fainted or had some form of a Seizure as I understand there are several types of Seizures. If anyone could give me their opinion, that would be greatly appreciated. I was laying down on couch watching tv. I was doing nothing abnormal or different throughout the day. I got up from couch walked in the kitchen and collapsed on floor face first, with a slight cut above my eyebrow with my right cheek pressed against floor. I was unconscious for approx 1 minute.
Avatar f tn m surprised he is on seizure meds after only one seizure. My son has been having seizures for 2 years. His doctors haven't put him on meds. They put him through several test to determine that his seizures are caused by stress and not being able to sleep. My son is only 13. I'm sure some one in the military is even more likey to have stress and not get good rest. Putting him on seizure meds would only cover up the real cause.
