Fainting vs passing out

Common Questions and Answers about Fainting vs passing out

fainting

203342 tn?1328737207 We have a friend who's father passed out two Sundays in a row at Sunday school. They took him to the hospital the first time and ran a bunch of tests and couldn't find anything wrong with him. They did say his blood pressure was a little low. He refused to go to the doctor the second time saying they couldn't find anything wrong the first time. We can't figure out why he keeps passing out while in Sunday school.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't lay on your back after 20weeks. The uterus push down on a major artery call the vena cava. It's the largest artery in the body and it supplies blood to and from the upper and lower parts of your body. That's why they tell you to lay on your left side. Passing out is caused by the blood not getting to the brain.
Avatar m tn Many things can cause passing out. Seizures is one of them, but diabetes, hypoglycemia, and heart problems can also cause fainting.
Avatar m tn Acute complications include cough syncope (fainting spells due to decreased blood flow to the brain when coughs are prolonged and forceful) can be an explanation of passing out. Nevertheless, your boyfriend should get a workup on the respiratory and the cariovascular system to rule out a serious medical condition. Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn t communicate or would get snippy and then kind of black out. I also threw up a couple of times right before passing out. Funny thing was that it would usually happen while I was eating. I ate pretty healthy but if I splurged on something high in sugar like cake or something, that would spike my blood sugar. If I went too long without eating and then ate, that would spike my blood sugar even if it was a good meal.
Avatar n tn ...so he fell twice?.....if he passed out and then became sick, he may have had a concussion....was he checked both times?......and since this is a 2x incident, then u should watch him closely and ask his dr what he reccomends....BP.....should be checked also......
Avatar f tn So she needs to go evry year to have it checked. This had nothing to do with her almost passing out though cause passing out is normal for teenagers. So we will see what happens in a year.
Avatar n tn Hi Mab, Hows everything going? Sounds to me like some sort of anxiety that's made you pass out. Where you feeling nervous when you passed out? If you're fainting alot I would go see a Dr. If not, unfortunately, like a lot of people your probably nervous of having blood taken. Some people don't like injections (stuff going in), some dont like blood being taken (stuff going out), others dont like either. Best thing to do is to go back as soon as you can to get your blood test.
Avatar f tn Im 25 weeks and 5 days I keep passing out ive been to the hospital and my doctor and no one seems to find a reason as for why it keeps happening has anyone had the same thing happen?
1937073 tn?1323612750 I'm 25 years old. I eat right and work out almost daily. I get plenty of sleep at night. But no matter what I do usually after 6pm. I'm always passing out. I've been at the movies watching a movie I'm really excited about seeing, at a live hockey game (which I'm a big fan of!), or even having a conversation with someone. I just pass out all the time. What is my issue?! I definitely have not always benn this way.
Avatar m tn Happened a year and a half ago and still suffering with various symptoms and been to many, many specialists, therapies, meds etc., and not much help. My symptoms got severe only after a month with near passing out and went down hill after that. They put this collectively under Post Concussion Syndrome and there is no specific treatment but lot of other alternative treatments out there and tried quite a few and helped only a little bit (neurofeedback, HBOT, vision therapy etc.,) .
Avatar m tn It can happen when wake from sleep as during sleep blood pressure is usually very low and sudden standing and walking might not instantly trigger nervous system to raise bp or raise heart rate (to reach blood to brain). if both of these won't kick in fast lightheadness and even fainting can occur. Fainting is body's natural way to reach more blood to brain as when lying flat on ground heart and brain on same level. There is tip to reduce it.
Avatar f tn Hellos, I am the CL on the heart disease community and we get this question often. What you describe can be something as innocent as hypo-tension or low blood pressure. It is common to feel disconnected and on the verge of passing out although you don't. Does getting up and moving around help? Have you had your blood pressure checked? This is a common complaint and is not dangerous, plus it's easy to get checked out. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Also without knowing how this growth sits it could be pressing on nerves and arteries that supply blood to that area. So yes fainting/passing out or even seizures could be possible. You might encourage your cousin or mother to post. You are hearing things second hand and don't have all the labs tests and stuuf like that for any of to comment more.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experinced a fainting/passing out moment? Definitely not from low blood sugar.
Avatar n tn I agree with Caregiver that passing out on toilet seat can be a strong vasovagal reflex. The complex group of symptoms are mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc. A tilt table test, holter monitor, echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis. Discuss this with your doctor and get this evaluated as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn you can pass out for any reason, however if you are passing out or near passing out I would put a call into my doctor to let them know, especially if you have some cardiac issues good luck michelle
Avatar n tn I think whenever something is new or has changed you need to see a dr. and get checked out. Fainting can be caused by many things. Fainting can cause serious injury and it might be something that is very simple to fix. There are others that a bit more serious so please get evaluated by a dr. Wish you the best.
Avatar n tn Syncope is the medical term for "passing out" and fainting or passing out with harsh coughing is not uncommon, whatever the cause of the cough. The cough may be due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but you should not assume that. If you smoke cigarettes or marijuana, that could be the cause. But, you should check out the cough with your doctor on this and, at least, have a chest x-ray. Most chronic coughs can at least be controlled, if not totally eliminated.
Avatar f tn I have had a really bad tooth ache/infection, and I am wondering if that could be the reason I have been getting light headed, blacking out to the point of passing out and sometimes doing a flooping episode like a seziour afterwards, and very low blood pressure? Can you help me on any info of what might be going on with me?
