fainting

1296927 tn?1272559732 She is 9 years old and on Monday she was taken to the ER via ambulance because she fainted in school. At the time of her fainting, the teacher was showing pictures of the muscle structure of the knee and pretending to do "knee surgery." At the hospital my daughter's blood work was normal, her urine showed a significant UTI, her cat scan of her skull came back normal, and she had no heart rate problems via ultrasound.
Avatar f tn Please have someone drive you the emergency room now! What's happening to you is extremely serious. I had a cousin with a leaky heart valve & a tooth infection. The infection went to his heart and he had a massive stroke. Please don't drive yourself & if no one is there to take you right now to the emergency room, call 9-1-1!

Avatar f tn Usually medical treatment is only begun after the third episode. In certain individuals even small amounts of alcohol can precipitate a seizure. Even though some time has passed, a physician's examination and input would be in order.
Avatar f tn My 14 yrs old has had fainting spells since she was in first grade. Her fainting spells looked like she was having a seizure. After she had several fainting spells, she was tested for seizures but all the test came back negative. About three years ago we find out she has an enlarged thyroid and hypothyroidism. About six months ago, she had a sleep study done because she waking up ever couple hours every night. The study showed that she was having seizures every couple minutes.

After MRIs of her brain, CAT scans, EKGs, EEGs, lab work and many 2nd opionions. She has been diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. In January 2008, her cardiologist started her on florinef and also had her increase her salt and water. After that, she went 4 months without an episode. Avatar f tn Is there a way to upload pictures here? or is there a site where I can see what kind of damage GM does?
1176841 tn?1330832460 I was dx'd with POTS 2 yrs ago when I began having fainting spells. I also had a severely compressed spinal cord which required a 7 cervical fusion 1 yr ago - which seemed to help in stopping the fainting spells. Well, the spells are back to the point of passing out - just recently I had a 48hr heart monitor results should be in 7 to 10 days.
Avatar f tn s doing. There are two possibilities. Fainting after standing for a long time or during rest, is usually caused by vagal hyperactivity that causes a drop in the blood pressure, usually with a slow heart rate. This is more or less normal. Diagnosis is usually confirmed with a head up tilt table test, where he's "flipped" from supine to standing position when EKG and blood pressure is measured. Fainting with activity or high heart rate is almost never benign.

1424099 tn?1282940614 t be able to breath in just out. Doctors said it was asthma but none of the asthma treatment worked. Recently (Febuary) we went with VCD (vocal chord dysfunction). We had her hypnotized and it worked for a game and a half then she couldn't breath again. So basket ball was over, but she had gym class, but everything was fine in that. Until May 10th, 2010.
203342 tn?1328737207 Turns out I have a heart condition, where my blood pressure drops and my heart has a hard time pumping blood up to my brain. The only treatment they can give me is exercise (which has helped, I haven't fainted in 6 years) and to sit down if I have to stand for more than 10 minutes or so. Hope this helps, best of luck!
Avatar n tn Hi,The symptomatic treatment for basilar migraines is restricted due to the risk of causing excessive vasoconstriction, and precipitate an infarct. Because of the vascular nature of the generation of migraines, there is indeed a higher risk for ischemic strokes in the same vascular territory, but different clinical studies report different increases in risk. Usually moderate analgesics and possibly mild narcotics are options to be considered. Plese contact your neurologist for the treatment.
Avatar n tn I certainly can. It sounds to me as though your husband is suffering from something called neurocardiogenic syncope or vasovagal syncope (these mean the same thing). And, more than just that, his "spells" sound exactly like mine. You may want to visit the following site and click around for some specifics about this syndrome. I've found that this site describes most of what I've been through, and been spoken to about by cardiologists. http://www.syncope.co.
Avatar f tn Im impatient and have only had it a few days and wondering if i made the right decision seeing as how im not even sure anymore about what the hell has been causing my fainting spells since it doesnt happen all the time and my low blood pressure isnt that low it ranges from 105/61 to 120/63
Avatar f tn I seem to be having problems uploading pictures. Is this because I'm on an iPad?
Avatar n tn I had a few near misses sometime associated with walking, especially early in the day, coughing (a constant problem), and standing up after sitting for a while. Now I became anemic during treatment and my hemoglobin dropped to 9.2 before I had to start Procrit and was likely the cause of most of it.
Avatar f tn My daughters symptoms are mainly low blood pressure, low heart rate, low blood sugar, headaches, dizziness, fainting, weakness, and occasional seizures. There are too many symptoms to list really though. Her treatment right now is Florinef, Ritalin, Midodrine, and saline hydration therapy through her PICC. I just take Florinef.
Avatar n tn I'm pretty sure i have balanitis based on pictures I've seen online. I picked up 2% miconazole for an OTC treatment, but in looking on the web, it seems that most sites recommend clotrimazole. Is one better then the other, or does it not really matter?
522392 tn?1212287411 I'm sorry to hear about your recent fainting episode. I'm not sure how long it takes for Florinef to start working, but I do hope it starts working for you soon. If not though, there are other treatment options available. Remember to keep your fluids up, I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of the migraine treatment is always to identify the triggering factors and to avoid them. Triggering factors that may induce your migraine attack may be contraceptive pills, stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling. Other factors could be different foods such as cheese, chocolate, alcohol and even few fruits. Few women experience headache more commonly during the time of their menstrual periods & at the time of hormonal imbalance.
Avatar n tn I have copied this out for you, it happens quite frequently While there are uncommon serious causes of passing out in children, the majority of fainting episodes are brought about by reasons that are neither serious nor life-threatening. The most common reason for fainting in children is called vasovagal syncope [VAY-so-VAY-gull SEENK-oh-pee). Vasovagal syncope is an abnormal reaction of the nerves to otherwise normal circumstances. These nerves dictate the heart rate and blood pressure.
