Avatar f tn I would definitely have an EEG done to see about seizure activity. I have had a seizure disorder for the last 26 years. Most of the time mine were absence seizures. Unless people knew what they were looking for, they had no clue that I was having a seizure.

Avatar f tn I have a 9 year old son who, from the age of about 2 years old (possibly younger) has had fainting spells that are very scary when they happen. They appear to happen when he is feeling under the weather or has a viral infection. They happen very quickly and he usually drops suddenly, he goes grey and is normally out for a matter of seconds.
Avatar f tn s around 2000 and was more fainting then throwing up with one time being escalating to a petit mal seizure. Originally, they thought it was neurological... years later they said it was a heart condition. I've had the EEG's, EKG's, MRI's, and a couple others I can't remember the names of... After having a table test, which didn't reveal anything really, the doctor said he thought it was Syncope. However, I've never been officially diagnosed with no real proof.

Avatar n tn I am a 35 yr old female that 2 yrs ago starting having seizure like activity I have had several EEG's and did a 5 day EEG video monitoring. Apparently I was physically having seizures but EEG did not show one. I still physically have seizures or something that looks like a seizure. Mostly I do not loose contiousness however I am not always able to communicate depending on what part of my body is seizing.
Avatar n tn Husband has family history of sleep apnea, so we went for sleep study where they found she was having seizure activity in her sleep. Further MRI and EEG found incidental chairi malformation and abnormal EEG with generalized spike and wave discharges; also during sleep portion she had increased generalized frontally dominant spike and wave discharges.
Avatar n tn My 14 year old daughter has been having fainting spells for about a year now. In October, she was diagnosed with Epilepsy due to an EEG that showed slowing in the left temporal lobe. This was confirmed in December by another doctor. She was on Keppra and then was added Trileptal but kept having spells. So, the docs put her in the hospital for 5 days and weaned her off the medication while on video EEG. She had one episode but it didn't record as seizure so they decided it was cardiac.
Avatar f tn I also have fainting spells. They happen once every 6-18 months, and have for the last 10 years...I'm 27. When this first started happening, I had every test imaginable and they found nothing. It's frustrating, but even more than that, it's scary. Last week I fainted from a standing position and smacked my face on the floor, resulting in a busted lip and a headache that hasn't gone away in the last 8 days - likely a concussion.
Avatar n tn I cut wheat, dairy and corn out and started eating 8 to 10 cloves of garlic a day, using apple cider vinegar and went 9 days without any seizure activity. This was broken by a grand mal seizure while making dinner. I finally agreed to tegretol therapy. I know chewing on cloves of garlic sounds crazy, but it seems to help the most. I think it may fight the EBV infection somehow. Get a neurologist to look at you and if possible get an inpatient EEG workup to catch one of these seizures.
Avatar n tn Only trace MR and TR.......since last august my fainting is worse. Nothing seems to trigger the spells........i get a fluttery heartbeat....i may even feel weird and then Bam.....lights out. I dont even have 10 seconds before its happened. When i come to(the blackness fades......apparently i scare people as i pass out with my eyes open) I feel very very very bad when its over........i have slight tremors but not seizure activity.
Avatar m tn My mother has had bouts of fainting and light headedness. Sometimes they come weekly and other times not for 2 months. This has been going on since 2007. She has been admitted to hospital on a number of occasions but each time they have not come to any conclusions as to a diagnosis. These attacks of light headedness last 2-5 minutes. She slurs her speech, gets pins and needles in her arms, and sometimes but not always faints.
Avatar f tn My 28 year old health son, informed me on 4-30-13 that he had a headache for @ 6 days. 2 weeks before that he indicated that he think he fainted in the bathroom because he woke up in the bathtub askew and the shower curtain was torn down around him. He also indicated when telling me that he thought he fainted that the last thing he remembered was going into the bathroom and looking in the mirror.
Avatar f tn The advantage of the EEG is that it can read the electricity patterns being generated by the brain, so when a patient has any activity which looks like a seizure, the EEG can tell us whether the patient was having a n electrical distubance in the brain which could account for the motor activity/convulsive activity seen. If no electrical disturbance is seen on the EEG during the period when a seizure activity is happening, then there are two possibilities.
Avatar f tn She is most likely having some sort of seizure activity, which can cause a person to pass out, and most definitely is causing her to kick around so hard that she's bruising herself. You should tell her to go to her doctor and discuss her symptoms, and he should refer her to a neurologist who can do a full workup on her and he can give her medcines to control the fainting and muscle spasming.
Avatar n tn my son was diagnosed with partial complex seizures and full blown seizures it started off with staring spells the one test a dr uses is hyperventilation you have your child take deep breaths in and out for about ten minutes after that time he may have a seizure which can be very scary if you have never seen one.my suggestion to you is to take your child to a neuroligest asap texas childrens hospital in houston texas is one of the best epilepsy clinics in the united states.
Avatar n tn Can you describe some more details regarding the seizure activity to know better? Sleep deprivation can be one of the triggers for seizure activity. It need not always happen at night. You may consult a neurologist for complete check up and investigations including a sleep study. Take care and share your thoughts.
