Common Questions and Answers about Fainting or unconsciousness

fainting

Avatar m tn I am having episodes of unconsciousness. I will be doing normal things and suddenly loose consciousness and once I am conscious I have memory lose for usually a few hours up to most of the day. I have been having these episodes for a little over a year now. I have had a bunch of test done including an eeg, cat-scan and a neural phyc evaluation. My phyciatrist thinks it might be a dissociative disorder however it does not fit in any of the categories completely.
Avatar f tn Hence, it is definitely not due to stroke or heart attack. Inco-ordination and unconsciousness could occur after bouts of heavy drinking. Best..
Avatar m tn My nephew is 10 years old and he faints (unconsciousness) couple minutes for each time and multiple times every single night around 9pm for more than 3 weeks already. His fainting is getting worst and more frequently lately. He had blood test and MRI done in hospital but the results were normal. The hospital and his specialist could not find what causes the faints. Wish you can help my nephew and many many thanks!!!

Avatar n tn The bottom number is mostly around 87 or 2-3 points up or down. My pressure goes up when I am anxious, scared or upset etc. and comes down quickly. What is worrisome is that everyday there are events that make us anxious, upset etc and is hard to control these situations. You had mentioned about expert forum, do you have an URL or recommend any particular forum?
Avatar n tn Hi recently in my workplace bizzare fainting episodes have been occuring. Its a large hall (maybe over 150 people)used as a call centre with a big air con system that just recirculates air which normally means flu's and colds get round every1 in no time.but 1 day last week 6 different people collapsed, the next day 3more.
Avatar f tn You should see a neurologist as soon as possible for a proper evaluation, given that you are suffering from fainting spells and you don't know the cause. A doctor needs to order testing to try to figure out what's the cause. Have you made sure already that you do not have low potassium in your blood with a lab test? Have you made sure you are not suffering from anemia?

469264 tn?1215088288 Hey my Husband has the same condition or at least it sounds like. My family has a doctor in Mexico they like to turn to when tests don't show anything here. The Doctor there said that he was having very mild seisures and gave him some pills too. But he didn't really say what the pills were. I looked them up myself and it turned out to be magnesium valproate which is another anticonvulsant.

Avatar f tn ve had MRIs and blood test and everything came back normal, nothing has been explained for my symptoms which include dizziness, tunnel vision, sometimes fainting, headaches, breaking out in a cold sweat, and a ringing in my ears. What could it be? It's been happening repeatedly for the past several years. I exercise regularly and eat anytime I'm hungry. There is no history of diabetes in my family.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor. This is a patient support forum. If I know something from my own experience then I feel comfortable saying it, but there is not enough information here. In general, they put in a stent to drain off fluids. I hope the person gets better.
Avatar n tn The last few times I was outside without any intense physical activity I experienced a numbness in my right foot followed minutes later by a blackout which would have resulted in me fainting had it not been for the fact that I have fainted before and can recognize when I am about to pass out before actually hitting the ground.
Avatar n tn m a 29 year old male in relatively good shape (work out a fair amount, but I could lose a five or so pounds), and a recent blood chemistry exam I took as part of my life insurance qualification showed that my glucose levels were 5mg/dl. Is that possible considering that the normal range is 70-125 and according to everything I've read online, levels below 20 can lead to unconsciousness? All my other readings--cholesterol, tryglyc, blood pressure, etc.--came back normal to optimal.
