Common Questions and Answers about Fainting or passing out causes

fainting

203342 tn?1328737207 We have a friend who's father passed out two Sundays in a row at Sunday school. They took him to the hospital the first time and ran a bunch of tests and couldn't find anything wrong with him. They did say his blood pressure was a little low. He refused to go to the doctor the second time saying they couldn't find anything wrong the first time. We can't figure out why he keeps passing out while in Sunday school.
Avatar f tn Have you ever, during this pregnancy or another, passed out just by the baby sitting on a nerve? When I lay on my back everything goes horrible.. My ears start ringing and I cannot hear.. And my heart starts beating faster.. And of course that fainting feeling..
Avatar f tn s doing. There are two possibilities. Fainting after standing for a long time or during rest, is usually caused by vagal hyperactivity that causes a drop in the blood pressure, usually with a slow heart rate. This is more or less normal. Diagnosis is usually confirmed with a head up tilt table test, where he's "flipped" from supine to standing position when EKG and blood pressure is measured. Fainting with activity or high heart rate is almost never benign.
Avatar m tn Acute complications include cough syncope (fainting spells due to decreased blood flow to the brain when coughs are prolonged and forceful) can be an explanation of passing out. Nevertheless, your boyfriend should get a workup on the respiratory and the cariovascular system to rule out a serious medical condition. Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar m tn Cold beads of sweat suddenly appearing on the forehead, juxtaposed with extreme weakness (or fainting) are hallmarks of cardiac ischemia. In other words the heart isn't getting enough oxygen. Why does this cause beads of sweat to appear on the forehead? Nobody is quite sure. But it is one of those things that should cause you to ring up "general quarters". That leads me to the conclusion drnee has reached. A comprehensive heart examination is indicated.
Avatar m tn Many things can cause passing out. Seizures is one of them, but diabetes, hypoglycemia, and heart problems can also cause fainting.
Avatar f tn m not anemic or anything. Do you know the cause of your fainting spells? Are you trying to figure it out?
Avatar n tn sounds like he was taken caare of after the incident.....only if he has a reoccurance of the fainting or other symptoms develope he should be ok....since he's a teen, it could be so many things......ask him, if he's the type to talk, how he's feeling now and to let u know if there r ne changes. I am not a medical professional, just a mom.....
Avatar f tn So she needs to go evry year to have it checked. This had nothing to do with her almost passing out though cause passing out is normal for teenagers. So we will see what happens in a year.

Avatar n tn I have copied this out for you, it happens quite frequently While there are uncommon serious causes of passing out in children, the majority of fainting episodes are brought about by reasons that are neither serious nor life-threatening. The most common reason for fainting in children is called vasovagal syncope [VAY-so-VAY-gull SEENK-oh-pee). Vasovagal syncope is an abnormal reaction of the nerves to otherwise normal circumstances. These nerves dictate the heart rate and blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Im 25 weeks and 5 days I keep passing out ive been to the hospital and my doctor and no one seems to find a reason as for why it keeps happening has anyone had the same thing happen?
1937073 tn?1323612750 When you say "pass out" I presume you do not mean fainting. Do you mean you get tired, or fall asleep? My first thought is that you might have low blood pressure. Do you ever bet a little dizzy, especially when you first lie down or stand up?
Avatar n tn The medical term for your husband’s attacks is, Cough Syncope (fainting or passing out). The immediate cause of this fainting is the hard cough that causes reduced blood flow to the brain and can quickly deprive the brain of oxygen. However, there are many causes of sudden hard coughing, one of which is what is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD or “heartburn”) that irritates the larynx (voice box).
Avatar n tn If you have headaches and hot flashes and lightheadedness with passing out, you could be having either polycystic ovarian disease or GERD with or without H pylori infection. These are the two conditions to be ruled out first. If you use computer a lot or read a lot then the symptoms could be due to compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region.
Avatar m tn Happened a year and a half ago and still suffering with various symptoms and been to many, many specialists, therapies, meds etc., and not much help. My symptoms got severe only after a month with near passing out and went down hill after that. They put this collectively under Post Concussion Syndrome and there is no specific treatment but lot of other alternative treatments out there and tried quite a few and helped only a little bit (neurofeedback, HBOT, vision therapy etc.,) .
Avatar m tn It can happen when wake from sleep as during sleep blood pressure is usually very low and sudden standing and walking might not instantly trigger nervous system to raise bp or raise heart rate (to reach blood to brain). if both of these won't kick in fast lightheadness and even fainting can occur. Fainting is body's natural way to reach more blood to brain as when lying flat on ground heart and brain on same level. There is tip to reduce it.
Avatar f tn Hellos, I am the CL on the heart disease community and we get this question often. What you describe can be something as innocent as hypo-tension or low blood pressure. It is common to feel disconnected and on the verge of passing out although you don't. Does getting up and moving around help? Have you had your blood pressure checked? This is a common complaint and is not dangerous, plus it's easy to get checked out. Hope this helps!
1551453 tn?1294245067 Twice in two weeks I found myself passing out at work. I felt completely fine before passing out and only had a headache when I woke up. Between the two times I passed out at work I would have moments where I would get light headed and my heart would pound in my chest extremely hard and fast to the point where I would have to sit down. When I was taken to the ER they checked my blood sugar, blood pressure and did an EKG to find it was all normal.
Avatar n tn I feel like im going to pass out. Should I tell someone or could it be just from my Meds? Could this be caused by an eating disorder?
11587059 tn?1427628263 m not sure if this is something to go to the er about or not. A lot of pain, passing out, hurts really bad to have a BM, a lot of vomiting.
Avatar m tn Over the past 3 months I'd say, I have had fainting episodes twice now. The first time I had fainted, I had no clue it was going to happen when I woke up. I had got dressed, went to my bus stop and went to school. I had got my lunch feeling fine, went to class and begun eating. Before I could even finish my stomach was killing me, it felt kind of empty and generally uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn Also without knowing how this growth sits it could be pressing on nerves and arteries that supply blood to that area. So yes fainting/passing out or even seizures could be possible. You might encourage your cousin or mother to post. You are hearing things second hand and don't have all the labs tests and stuuf like that for any of to comment more.
