Avatar f tn Hi, I can understand your worrying concern about long term migraine headaches that may be most likely reason of your present symptoms and no sure success treatments that you have tried. The mainstay of the migraine treatment is always to identify the triggering factors and to avoid them. Triggering factors that may induce your migraine attack may be contraceptive pills, stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling.
Avatar f tn I am a 19 years old female and I have migraines with aura, and I've had them since I was 14 years old. Recently I've started having fainting spells with black outs, loss of hearing, shortness of breath, tunnel vision and severe SEVERE dizziness. The first time i fainted, i couldn't hear anything and my vision got blurry, hit my head hard on the desk as I fell while getting out of bed to get some water. Two days later, I had a migraine episode, the worst ever.
2013201 tn?1330148875 s a little low and that being said was the reason I had these episodes of fainting without fainting ... I got up one time and everything went black and then back to normal, that was weird and then one time I lost my eyesight all together for about 20 minutes and this was called an ocular migraine. I do not have migraines either but my doctor said that a migraine can be felt or not felt I had no idea ... I had no head ache before or after and it's happened to me about three times in my life.
Avatar f tn I have apnea, for which I have a CPAP. That being said, I keep experiencing a combination of migraine and what appears to be cataplexy. I will wake up feeling horrible that day, usually I'll experience some migraine aura, and then I'll have the "fainting" as we call it. My body goes limp, as if I'm asleep, but I can still vaguely hear whats going on around me, as if someone who is drifting in and out of sleep. I cannot respond or voluntarily move while this happens.
Avatar n tn ever since then I have had a balance disorder where very often, at least once a month, I get really dizzy, the side of my face that was effected by swimmers ear swells slightly and is sore to the touch, my jaw is tight and i get a migraine with an aura. Smells bother me, they are so unbearably strong that I am nauseated and cannot eat. Light and bright colors hurt my eyes...
624829 tn?1240755671 My 13 yr old nephew - in 2005 he had two spells of fainting within a gap of 4-5 months. Since then, in early 2008 he had another spell of fainting. This morning, he fainted again. He says that his head pains (like cramp type) and then he faints. He was taken to a neurologist in 2005 and after all the recommended tests including MRI, nothing was detected. He is an otherwise active child and eats normally and regularly.
Avatar m tn I started having complex migrains about 38 years ago following a car crash where my forehead broke the windshield. The migraine symptoms have evolved of the years to different things. About 8 years ago I started having a mix or anxiety attacks with them and the last fours year's syncope has also occurred. I get migraine type symptoms about once a month, anxiety spells about every to three weeks and faint around once every two to three months.
621465 tn?1221537588 Is fainting or loss of consciousness something that can be caused by a migraine? I have been suffering from migraines for some time now. Some are bad. Some are awful. Some are 'please almighty power of the cosmos let me die now'. Several days ago I was trying to rest off a migraine headache. I had not taken any medicine for it since most pain killers upset my stomach, and it was already mighty upset. I guess I got up to go the bathroom and fainted on the way.
Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. Consult a gynecologist and rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Endometriosis and PCOD are the other possibilities.
639773 tn?1401021974 In response to your comment on Feb 06, 2009 11:20PM the link is cathy213 Jan 27, 2009 12:30am . The tag is Basilar artery migraine under Migraine and Headace Forum. Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally, one sided throbbing (or sharp) headache (or discomfort) & orbital pain (eye pain) symptoms could be suggestive of migraine. Factors that may induce your migraine attack may be excessive pills, stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling. The mainstay of the migraine treatment is always to identify the triggering factors and to avoid them.
Avatar f tn I am 22 years old. I have been suffering from: fainting, migraines, numbness in my face/hands/feet, neck pain, spots in my vision, lightheadedness/dizziness, and shaky hands. My symptoms come and go.It does seem worse around my period, but not always. Every doctor I go to does tons of tests and I come up in perfect health. I have been diagnosed w/ migraines- but migraine meds don't seem to help. Doctors thought it might be neurocardiogenic syncope, but have recently ruled that out.
Avatar n tn I get migraines associated with faintness and fainting too. I've been told I have BAM also. I take Topamax to reduce to frequency of migraines, but I still get them. You have to remain in bed when you have these headaches, especially if you feel faint and sweaty.. Try to keep your head down. It would be better if you have someone at home at the time to help you ( get you a bucket if you have to throw up) when you have these episodes. I know, they are very scary.
Avatar n tn It seems strangely coincidental that the vision problem began after my first migraine attack which affected my vision with an aura which preceded the migraine. There has to be some kind of drug out there which can at least minimise the symptoms, even that would be a blessing in itself!!
1504138 tn?1289518617 You could be having a migraine syndrome of symptoms including fainting, speech problems, the loss of control over voluntary movements, tinnitus all can be due to migraine association or it could be seizure activity which should be assessed in the light of an EEG, postural hypotension. Consult with your neurologist for a detailed assessment. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have migraine headaches with an awful sensation of pressure in my head, throbbing and ringing in my ears. I also have nearly fainted several times and my bloodpressure has been unusually high when this happens and my heart is pounding. An ER doctor suggested autonomic instability. Anyone out there have anything similar?
Avatar f tn However, the reason that there is no available prognosis for complex migraine is that there are too many factors involved. The outlook for complex migraine depends on avoiding the triggers and taking the appropriate medicine. If both of these factors are addressed, there is a high probability that the prognosis is good. This is why a close collaboration with your doctor is important since much medications for migraine is trial and error for each person. Take care always.

Avatar f tn I am glad your daughter's EEG turned out to be normal, and as the medhelp doctor suggested, it's good that a tilt-table test has been scheduled. However, if the tilt-table test is negative, before concentrating on anxiety as the sole cause of the fainting, please follow up on the advice of the doctor here and google terms like 'syncopal migraine' and 'migraine with syncope.

Avatar f tn Did you eat a hearty breakfast that day? If not, and your blood sugar were very low you might well have felt faint after notable exertion, and vision blanking out when you're on the verge of fainting is not exceptional. I think it's good to start the day off with a hearty breakfast, perhaps based on oatmeal porridge.
Avatar f tn It could also be cluster headache, migraine, or tension headache. Sometimes migraines do not have triggers. Please consult a neurologist. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
