I was prescribed Climara .05 in a patch once a week, and I'm scared to try it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried these drugs and what was your take on them. Avatar f tn Surgical menopause has been terrible for me. I was 37 when I had my surgery and so I wasn't even close to menopause. That makes a difference. The younger you are, the more dramatic of a change in hormones. I wasn't able to take HRT due to cancer. I suspect that with HRT you won't notice the same changes. But, for me, I was having major hot flashes in the hospital within a day of my surgery. The hot flashes remained for many months and were extreme and frequent.
1090423 tn?1286287650 You should also be aware that breast pain is linked to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) If you are taking this medication to ease the discomfort of menopause, you should discuss with your doctor about it because women on HRT have health risks that exceeded the benefits. To lessen the pain you could take an OTC painkiller like Tylenol and wearing a good supportive bra. Best wishes...
1110049 tn?1409402144 I had an early menopause and was on HRT for 13 years which stopped hot flashes, although it made my migraines worse. I have been on Effexor for a quite a few years now, and notice that I get hot flashes from time to time. Other people also say they have night sweats with Effexor, which I do not experience.
Avatar f tn I researching menopause and HRT for her, I found one statement about HRT being in question for those with previous liver problems. My friend had hep C and was treated with intensive interferon in a test program. The treatment was successful and was over 7 years ago and she no longer has any symptoms and her numbers are within normal limits. It should be okay for her to take HRT, don't you think? Of course, with this information, she will mention the Hep C with her present Internist.
Avatar n tn It might be an idea then to discuss having HRT with your doc. There are various thoughts on how HRT affects oestrogen status. But my Endo wants me to go back on HRT as she feels this will help stabilise my thyroid.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy in 2007. Due to a seizure issue, I was not able to take HRT. I used a menopause formula from Vitamin World. I still had to deal with some hot flashes, etc. but, overall, I was very happy with how it worked for me.
Avatar f tn My doctor mentioned that while in menopause, it is common to need more thyroid hormone replacement since I have no thyroid to compensate. Since I am taking estradiol and progesterone and seem to be doing much better since it was adjusted three weeks ago, could I possibly need less armour than I did before?
Avatar f tn I went into immediate surgical menopause at age 37 and was not able to take HRT due to cancer. It has been very hard for me. Everyone is different and some people have a harder time than others. If you take HRT, you probably won't notice many changes except lack of a period. If you aren't taking HRT, you could have any or all of the symptoms associated with menopause including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia, mood changes, a decreased libido and many others.
Avatar f tn I'm a 54 yr old woman and just got blood test results for FSH and it was 42 (last yr 20). I do take levothyroxine 1.75 mg (still have thyroid) approx. 11yr, Paroxetine 37.5 mg, Bupropion 200 mg twice a day, approx. 3yrs for this type and dosage prior types before this, lipitor 20 mg, approx. 6yrs. I was taking low dose birth control (approx. 11yrs) until about a month ago not for birth control. I'm strongly considering HRT. I'm 5'6" and weigh 228 lb.'s.
Avatar f tn I am now recovering from a mastectomy! HRT is not worth the risk, no matter how bad the menopause symptoms.
Avatar n tn If the pains are due to the drug, stopping the drug will help relieve the symptoms. The other possibility is menopause itself. HRT will help if this is the case. The third possibility is vitamin D deficiency, maybe calcium deficiency. Get bone density test done too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor regarding this pain. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
599170 tn?1300973893 Have any of you women noticed an increase in thyroid symptoms once you became menopausal ?? My hair is suddenly falling out alot.Im on hrt but only newly Ive heard no female hormones can increase hypo-thyroid any thoughts or anyone noticing the same would be appreciated Im taking synthroid .
Avatar f tn As for your idea to think about HRT or hormone replacement therapy. Please do some research about HRT before you decide to use it, google the topic etc. You will find HRT has a possible link with breast cancer. You don't need HRT. There are other alternatives. You say osteoporosis runs in your family. Even so you don't have to take HRT. A family member took HRT for almost 20 years plus actually. Her genecologist put her on it. Five years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Avatar m tn been going through menopause 9 years cant take hrt on amitriptyline they have not realy lifted my mood but help me sleep better put on a lot of weight since i have been on them which is making me feel even more depressed is there a good alternative out there to help with the symptoms of menopause just dont seem to be coming to the end of this
1641433 tn?1303010754 Bless your heart. You are so young to have to deal with this. I totally agree with Gail. I also had breast cancer in my family history so HRT was out of the question for me. So I know alot of people suffer horrible effects of menopause, but I personally (being put in surgical menopause at 39), hasn't been that big of a deal. Had some hot flashes in the beginning (only now and then now), nothing that big to deal with.
Avatar f tn Hi Tina, I just finished reading your comments. You're not necessarily in menopause, Tina. To be officially in menopause, you have to have had no periods for one year. This is what my doctor told me when I thought I was going through menopause. I am now menopausal, but I'm over 50. Anyway, I sympathize as far as the hot flashes. I've had hot flashes at night. So have two of my best friends. You're literally drenched with perspiration.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy last year aged 45, I am getting sever anxiety and panic attacks, full blown sweats etc, my bloo dresults fsh 3.7 and lh 2.
Avatar n tn I’ve never tried soy or black cohosh, but both my sister and I have had wonderful results with Wisdom Menopause Formula. I had been on HRT for four months but had to quit because the side effects became unbearable. My knees and hips ached, and my breasts got so sore that I really started to worry that something bad was happening. When I quit, the hot flashes and night sweats were crippling.
Avatar n tn Many BC survivors taking tamoxifen and related drugs have to deal with such symptoms without the use of HRT. If you do end up using HRT, it would be even more important to contol for as many other risk factors for BC as possible: achieving or maintaining a normal weight, using little or no alcohol, not smoking, regular exercise, and making sure you have an adequate level of Vit. D, for example. Have you considered seeking a second opinion with another GYN?
Avatar f tn If it is the menopause, then kazy is right, HRT can work wonders for that. Would you rather suffer all these distressing things, rather than take medication to relieve them? I took HRT for 13 years, as I had an early menopause, without any ill effects. Obviously only a doctor can help you with this. Don't put up with this any longer.
Avatar f tn That is why they are hesitant about hrt. Some Doctors refuse others will give women hrt. It is all risk/benefit. Some Doctors deem the risks too high. nature did not intend for us to have estrogen for that long, that is why it is cut out at a certain age. Also is you have years of birth control or smoking this adds to the risks. There are Doctors who understand women will take that risk. MS is not an issue. I got accept in a Menopausal two year drug study.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Hello: I was wondering if anyone else that is one HRT is having issues with tinnitus? Thank you.
Avatar f tn So my question is that if I only have my ovaries removed and leave my utureus will I still have my period or will I immediately go through menopause and what does that mean for me? I am 38 years old and will not have anymore children anyway, I have three and that is enough. Any input would really be appreciated.
