fainting low iron

I'm the same, I get terrible fainting spells during pregnancy. I know its not low blood pressure because I've had preeclamplsia through both pregnancies but interestingly my iron levels have been really low particularly this pregnancy. I had an iron infusion last week and haven't fainted since. Maybe get your iron checked?

Definitely ask for your iron to be checked. That was the reason i became so faint at 26 weeks.

did u Dr check the iron levels in ur blood. I have heard that iron deficiency can make u feel dizzy and faint. Make sure ur not anemic and if it helps.. try s u c k ing on to a hard sugar candy when u get these spells. Ur bp and iron levels have to be right.. please take care and keep me posted.

she let her doctor know that she was always dizzy and they did blood work on her and found that she was enemic (sp) she doesnt have enough iron or something so now she takes iron pills or food with alot of iron in it which helps her. it could be that or something else you should advise your dr though.

I had fainting spells in the shower every time with my first two. I was anemic too. the doctor had me taking iron supplements twice a day and that stopped it.

My periods are usually quite heavy, however I have never fainted before. My blood pressure is usually normal to low. My doctor said it could be a combination of the medication and heavy periods.

Hi there, I am a 36 year old single woman who has always suffered from severely painful periods that sometimes include fainting. Just yesterday it happened again. This time though, it came suddenly. No pain, no warning. I AM due to get my period but haven't gotten it yet. But, yesterday i had a sudden fainting spell followed by about 20 minutes of torturous pain. I am not on birth control and have not have kids yet... I have made an appt. with both my gyno and doctor. What is up with me?

Sounds like u may be low in iron as these are symptoms go get checked out xx

That happens to me and its due to me havkng low blood pressure...

The same thing happened to me I saw spots and colors I had to get out the shower because my head started to hurt and I felt weak as if I was going to faint. When I got out I was stumbling to my room to lie down. After I did I felt better. I just found out I failed the glucose test and have to take the three hour one Friday. Don't know if that's what had to do with it or the fact I'm anemic and have low iron as well..

I HAVE HAD THIS FOR A WEEK NOW. MY DR SAID IT WAS LOW BLOOD PRESSURE AND LOW IRON. I FEEL REALLY WEAK AND DIZZY ALOT. MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS NORMALY 130/90 AND NOW STAYS IN THE 90/50 RANGE. THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL IN THE 2ND TRIMESTER. THIS IS MY 3RD PREGNANCY AND FIRST TIME HAVING THESE SYMPTOMS. STAY WELL HYDRATED AND EAT SMALL MEALS EVERY 2 HRS OR SO THAT HELPS ME ALONG WITH FREQUENT STILL PERIODS THROUGH MY DAY.

I wonder if she has any arrhythmia? You will have to do various things to rule out what is wrong. Did they do an EKG? Getting a 24 hour heart monitor would be good if you can. Then there is the possiblity of iron deficiency. It takes a long time if you take iron pills to get normal again. Did they do a complete blood count? Iron level? Ferritin and B12? Is she bleeding anywhere such as from fibroids?

I have a friend that had the same type of episodes and her doctor told her she was iron deficent because her periods were heavy. Have your doctor do a simple blood test to check.

Try eating foods high in iron or taking an iron supplement. When I was pregnant with my first I was exactly the same way. Turns out I was seriously low on iron. My Dr was amazed I didn't need a blood transfusion during delivery because my iron was so low. Try it see if it helps.

I had the same thing in my first trimester. It was due to low blood pressure, and there was not much they were able to do (very common). They just said don't get up fast, stay hydrated, make sure you eat frequently to keep blood sugar levels stable, and rest when needed. Hope you feel better!

It would be worth getting her checked out for low iron levels and for diabetes. But a person does not have to be a diabetic to get symptoms of low sugar levels. Best wishes.

Yes I use to get that, I used to lie down and let it pass or have a cold drink. Get checked for high blood pressure or low iron that could be the cause..

bcoz of low blood pressure . you need to eat very well and keep your self hydrated, and see the doctor for safe side. hope this help.

S wtf stupid people My blood test show I have really high iron and really low ferritin which have been worsening everytime i get blood tests done, I dont know what to do i cant keep food down or tablets and keeping liquid down is a struggle. Could the iron problem be causing my symptoms? And how do I get the doctors to take notice?

Could also be low blood sugar levels or iron levels. You would need to see your doctor/midwife to get checked for all these things just in case.
