Avatar n tn Can older people get mono? I recently tested positive to a monospot test. I am 55years old and never heard of anyone in my age group getting mono. I thought it was the "kissing disease" which sure leaves me out!!! This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/228024'>Mononucleosis -</a>.
Avatar n tn I have copied this out for you, it happens quite frequently While there are uncommon serious causes of passing out in children, the majority of fainting episodes are brought about by reasons that are neither serious nor life-threatening. The most common reason for fainting in children is called vasovagal syncope [VAY-so-VAY-gull SEENK-oh-pee). Vasovagal syncope is an abnormal reaction of the nerves to otherwise normal circumstances. These nerves dictate the heart rate and blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Is there any history of heart problems in your family? Most chest pain in young people is NOT cardiac in origin; mostly it is either musculoskeletal or related to the lining of the chest and lungs. Occasionally it can be of gastro-intestinal origin, such as acid reflux. Finally, if you are experiencing shortness of breath as well, or a change in your exercise ability, it is important to see your primary doctor soon, and review all these symptoms with him/her.
Avatar n tn I don't know if I am in the right place for this or not, but I have been fainting since I was 13 (now 30). It used to happen for no apparent reason (not from stress) & I went through many tests (EEG, EKG, etc) before they did the tilt-table test & figured out it was when adreneline was released into my system that heart rate went up/blood pressure down. I was on nadalol (sp)?
203342 tn?1328737207 Hi, Any episode of fainting should be taken seriously. In some people, fainting can occur without a serious underlying disease like at the time of death of a near one (a moment of sudden and intense grief), on seeing vomitus or on seeing blood (while visiting a hospital). In a good no. of people, fainting is due to some underlying problem that is mainly a cardiovascular problem or a neurological one. In old age, one of the commonest causes of fainting is “sick sinus syndrome”.
Avatar f tn when they sleep in deep night, they will have the extraordinary corresponding horrible dreams, in the dreams, they do some kind of terrible Belial pressuring them or being hunted down, but they can not cry out or escape, which are called nightmare in iatrology. 1296927 tn?1272559732 She is 9 years old and on Monday she was taken to the ER via ambulance because she fainted in school. At the time of her fainting, the teacher was showing pictures of the muscle structure of the knee and pretending to do "knee surgery." At the hospital my daughter's blood work was normal, her urine showed a significant UTI, her cat scan of her skull came back normal, and she had no heart rate problems via ultrasound.
Avatar n tn Shortly after passing my annual physical last week, I fainted during the following blood test (fainting in the clinic quite normal for me following needle sticks). After fainting, my pulse was 110 and my BP was 104/59, and stayed that way for the 20 minutes the nurses insisted I lay in the chair. After fainting, I could feel my heartbeat, and it felt fluttering or irregular. I have felt the sensation before, and it usually quickly clears up on it's own.
Avatar f tn I passed out last week in the middle of cosco and almost again in Wal-Mart anyone else having or had this problem??
Avatar n tn A good Echo should be reassuring as this rules out alot of problems that could have caused your faints and dizziness. But you should get this checked out in my opinion, even people your age can have electrical problems with their hearts but have a completely structurally normal heart. Check out the SADS website for conditions that affect the young. I wouldn't worry too much but I would follow up with this.
Avatar n tn I am a 60 yr old female. I had a routine colonoscopy and endoscopy in February. It showed erosive gastritis. Last week I had severe lower left abdominal pain and rectal bleeding. Doctor did another colonoscopy and findings were , moderate inflammation in the sigmoid colon secondary to ischemic colitis. I wasn't given any treatment was told it would heal. I mentioned to the doctor I had two fainting spells, first was November second was in January. No cause has been found.
Avatar n tn For some perspective: Long Q-T syndrome (LQTS) is an infrequent, hereditary disorder of the heart's electrical rhythm that can occur in otherwise healthy people. It usually affects children or young adults. . A doctor can measure the time it takes for the Q-T interval (that is the tracing for left ventricle activation) to occur (in fractions of a second), and can tell if it occurs in a normal amount of time.
Avatar f tn I am concerned about some fainting that has gone on in the past year, and will be seeing my doctor soon, but would like to see if I can calm my nerves about my symptoms beforehand. I am a 20 year old college women and between last summer and this summer I have experienced 3 fainting spells, all under different conditions. The first two I feel like I have a basic understanding of why they occurred, but will share them anyways as I am concerned that my most recent one has no explanation.
Avatar n tn My 20-year-old son keeps fainting with exercise. He has no other health conditions, and has had a stress echo, basic blood work, chest x-ray. He has seen 2 cardiologists and has only been diagnosed with a high voltage ekg. He does not use drugs or alcohol. He fainted twice in his Ju Jitzu class and today playing flag football. He often skips breakfast, and probably doesn't drink enough fluids.
Avatar m tn If a person feels funny or like they may faint, the person needs to get their head down between their legs quickly to avoid fainting. People can faint from sudden drop in blood pressure. If the shower she was taking was hot, it could cause her to faint. This happened to my cousin and 911 was called. The shower was too hot for her. If she does not eat something every two hours (something small quanity) blood sugar can drop and a person can faint.
Avatar n tn With my first I passed out in the shower.. thank God my husband was there! She was born very healthy and is a strong 2 year old:) I think I pass out mostly due to me having really low blood pressure during pregnancy.. I would talk to your doctor about it of you're worried.
Avatar f tn What could be the reason.I am 28 year old female and had experienced nothing like this before. Can a low pressure cause this?
2086477 tn?1332611994 Oh I also meamt to add that most likely your vagal nerve is being stimulated when you urinate resulting in fainting. Many people also do that with bowel movements or laughing for example. Its called neurocardiogenic syncope. You night ask your dr about that.
Avatar f tn Sounds like she showers in the morning? Before breakfast? What about a little low blood sugar? Tossing out thoughts.
Avatar f tn I fainted before I knew I was pregnant and turns out I was! I don't think it happens to a lot of people, but my doctor said I am fine and healthy.
Avatar f tn No I don't faint specifically during my monthly actually not sure if it's related but I've notices latly my period has been late. Not sure if it wo be this month expecting it next week but really it'll probably be at least a week or 2 late. I mentioned dizziness to my doctor a couple weeks ago he didn't say anything though he didn't really give me the chance just over looked it.
Avatar m tn I am a 43 yr old male, not overweight and in decent shape. Ihave had fainting problems over the past 4 years. I used to think it was stress/anxiety issues but now I am not sure. I started going to my family doctor and the doctor diagnosis was vasovagal syncopy. I have been tested for the following and all came back normal: EKG's 2x a year Eco- cardiogram CT scan Blood work 1x a year Heart Monitor for 2 weeks - of course i did not faint when I had it.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't think that it was too common. I suppose it is related to your response to either pain or just the general surroundings. Some people get a sick or faint feeling when even going into a hospital. It's just a human reaction and everyone reacts differently to all kinds of situations. I wouldn't worry about it but you might mention it if you have any other type of procedure done in the future so the staff will be alert in case it might happen again. Regards ....
