Common Questions and Answers about Fainting in hospitals

Avatar m tn My girlfriend suffers from unexplained drops in blood pressure, sometimes causing her to pass out and even stops her breathing. Tests in hospitals in England have come up with nothing but blaming the drop of blood pressure (sometimes as low as 54/47), but can find no cause for why it drops. They succesfully induced the fainting through tests where she had to step up and down a low platform and running on a treadmill, three times resulting in them having to use crash pads to bring her back.
Avatar f tn POTS is a hard diagnosis to make, and the mechanism is not understood very well. It affects predominantly young women, usually it is triggered by going from sitting or lying to standing position, which then leads to palpitations, dizziness and, even passing out/fainting. Things like exertion, eating and even stress can trigger theses episodes. POTS is usually treated by cardiologists specializing in the heart's conduction system (electrophysiologists), or neurologists.
Avatar f tn I have had this anxiety since I was a teenager. It first happened when we were at church, but it now happens regularly when I am confronted with certain situations. In short, I faint. I don't know why, but usually it is when I am in an uncomfotable situation (i.e. Weddings, Formal events with a lot of people, etc.)... The weird thing is, it has morphed from 'fainting in church' to 'fainting from worrying about fainting!'... Which is why it happens at large formal events.
Avatar f tn I am planning on volunteering in hospitals and shadowing E.R. doctors because I want to become a doctor. The only problem is when I'm in a hospital setting, see blood, or sometimes even talk about gory things I get lightheaded. I don't get "grossed out" by anything like that and I am not afraid of needles.. It seems to be all psychological. It is very frustrating because as much as I want to be in the hospital, my body doesn't agree with it.
7656727 tn?1404157447 i absolutely love orange coast memorial off the 405 in orange county! i specifically moved in with my mom who lives down the street , leaving my home in L.A county to give birth there.
Avatar f tn Just go the nearest hospital and tell them your in labor, you have to give them information about the main hospital you get care in for your baby. If they ask you if you planned your pregnancy, you say yes. Make sure you have all your medical papers with you, this will make it a simple for you and them so they can take better care of you and your baby. And make sure you take some baby clothing with you and your baby car seat, show them your serious about your baby.

Avatar m tn I have no idea anymore what cause is or what to do. By shock I mean like the heart palpitation was so big, strong, or scary that it scared the heck out of me.
Avatar n tn I have copied this out for you, it happens quite frequently While there are uncommon serious causes of passing out in children, the majority of fainting episodes are brought about by reasons that are neither serious nor life-threatening. The most common reason for fainting in children is called vasovagal syncope [VAY-so-VAY-gull SEENK-oh-pee). Vasovagal syncope is an abnormal reaction of the nerves to otherwise normal circumstances. These nerves dictate the heart rate and blood pressure.
Avatar m tn I see that you are in TN. I'm not sure if you are aware, but one of the nation's top hospitals for dysautonomia, and one of the mere handful of hospitals nationwide that has a dedicated dysautonomia clinic is in your state!! Have your wife's docs mentioned referring her to the dysautonomia clinic at Vanderbilt in Nashville? At about a 3.
Avatar f tn From the time I was 19 I have developed hives, swelling, and itching when I go into the sun. It doesn't happen every time I'm in the sun, but it's more likely to happen when the sun is shining very brightly. I've discovered that if I can get out of the sun when my skin starts to tingle and burn, the reaction is not as bad.

Avatar m tn As a teen I started developing migraines, fainting spells, an I was in an out of hospitals. I was sent to a neurologist who diagnosed with me chiari but then passed my symptoms off as psycho social. After finding a different doctor I found meds to control the migrains an Tremors. Avatar f tn I Work At An Hospital Here In Florida , & There's Actually Two Hospitals In The City Where I Am From . I Honestly Have Been Getting Lots Of Questions About Where I Will Be Delivering My Child At From Work . I Do NOT Want To Choose The One I Work At Because Of My Co-Workers Being #1 , & The Hospital Is Very Disgusting ! The HouseKeepers Do Not Clean Thoroughly & Properly. I Do Not Want Me Nor My Baby Boy Laying In Filth!
Avatar f tn If you feel uncomfortable there, don't go there. I know someone who really wanted to deliver at the Zanesville hospital in the state I live in (which would be about a 35 minute drive) because that's where her family lived and she felt most comfortable at that hospital, but her boyfriend demanded that she be taken to Fairfeild medical center (another hospital about the same distance away), but she hated it there. She said the people there are rude and annoying.
9263335 tn?1403463032 So me & my husband are at the hospital with my 3 yr old brother & it breaks my heart to see him in so much pain. He's been in & out of the hospital since May 13 & my mom only told me 2 weeks ago that he had been hospitalized. I'm praying that he gets better because they keep saying it's Leukemia & then it's not & it's frustrating that they don't know 100%.
Avatar f tn It depends on what part of Alabama you live in. Which part are you from?
5048164 tn?1384140281 Laying here can't sleep for all these wires hooked up to me and the light that is literally right above my head that won't turn off.
Avatar f tn Hi all. Has anyone switched hospitals in the second trimester? I'm 17 wks so far have liked the hospital I'm at but have heard bad things about birth at this hospital, and another hospital in my area has a much better reputation for birth. Does it really matter so much where you go? It seems like a hassle to switch at this point but may be worth it?
6883059 tn?1395509077 Whoa, an hour. Yes I would just in case. My hospital is exactly 10 mins away.
