Avatar m tn I am struggling with what I understand is the imminent loss of my 15 year old yorkie companion. She had 10 fainting spells.. in one hour .... 8 days ago. Vet put her on phenobarbital immed and she has not had another seizure. He feels she has a brain tumor. after the seizures, she was herself, with no noticeable behavior changes. Since putting her on the pheno, I have watched her deteriorate .. and I have spent hours researching this.
3670518 tn?1351646155 I have very limited experience with stroke in dogs, but the way your dog recovered suggests to me it was not a stroke. Given you dog was receiving hospital level treatment I think you should ask the vet involved in that treatment.
Avatar f tn Since I was about 10 years old I have been having these fainting spells. I never have them sitting down just when I am standing. I feel a pressure in my head, then my vision goes black, I hear a roaring in my ears, and they last for only seconds. When I come back I am slightly confused for a second then my head hurts a little, my heart is pounding, I sometimes have coldsweats, and my breathing is faster. I am 24 years old and in the last couple years they have been getting a little worse.

Avatar m tn Without other heart symptoms I suspect it is something outside the heart but best to get checked out by a doctor if this continues. And maybe also post your question in the diagnosed symptoms section to see what others have to offer for fainting spells.
Avatar n tn Those are symptoms or pre eclampsia or dehydration. I'd go in to get checked out and have your blood pressure taken.
Avatar m tn From the symptoms I think your vet is probably right on the money with the diagnosis of a mass in the brain, but I doubt that the tremors signify pain because you said they are of short duration. Pain wouldn't be that transient, so it sounds like she may be having a neurological reaction to the mass. As long as she is eating her food, eager to go outside and is alert and happy to see you when you talk to her, just let her be. You will know when it's time.
Avatar m tn No, but if a pet has all the symptoms, such as enlargement of all the lymph nodes in an elderly patient there is a chance that the patient may have lymphoma. A veterinarian would than do a fine needle aspirate (needle biopsy), or excisional biopsy, and bloodwork to be definitive.

Avatar m tn About 8 weeks ago my daughter started having fainting spells. She didn't loss consciousness, just kind of blackout and then felt very week. We took her to a pedi-cardiologist and they didn't test her, but based on symptoms diagnosed her with vasovagal syncope. She was put on salt pills and increased fluids. No real success, she continued to have symptoms. Then this past week, she started having a hard time breathing. She felt like she couldn't catch her breath.

Avatar n tn pregnancy? stress? these symptoms can be so many things... If you felt better in the morning you could have been just too tired. I would recommend plenty of rest, cut the caffeine for a few days, but go see a doctor if it comes back...
Avatar n tn The last few times I was outside without any intense physical activity I experienced a numbness in my right foot followed minutes later by a blackout which would have resulted in me fainting had it not been for the fact that I have fainted before and can recognize when I am about to pass out before actually hitting the ground.
