1931709 tn?1335833095 Risk of infection is one of the major risks related to the process during pregnancy. Getting tattoo during pregnancy increases the chances of infections like HIV and hepatitis. The risk of infection reduces with proper sterilization of the needles used for tattoo making. It is seen that some tattoo artist refuses to make tattoo on expecting mother because there are chances of fainting. Dizziness or fainting is bad, both for the expecting mother as well as the developing child.
Avatar f tn Any reputable tattoo shop will not do it. The risk of infection goes up alot during pregnancy it's just not worth it.
Avatar f tn The tattoo I am considering is my son's small hand print on my shoulder. I am going to continue to breast feed when my son is hungry. The tech seemed positive that this will not harm my baby. I was just trying to get some extra opinions.
4513508 tn?1357051722 Wut Are Yur Views ?.. I've Heard While It's Not Recommended , As Long As Everything Is Sterile It's Okaii . Then I've Heard That Even If Things Are Sterile Ppl Are Still Skeptical On If Tha Ink Can Affect Baby .. Even Tha FDA Approved Stuff Is Back n Forth Arguments ... In The End It's Realli Up 2 Tha Mother I'm Aware . But Sum Shops REFUSE 2 Tattoo Women That Are Pregnant &/Or Breastfeeding .... Why ? Why Are Some Okaii & Some Aren't ??...
Avatar f tn It probably won't harm anything, but why risk it? And also you would have to lie on the consent form because any tattoo place would not tattoo you knowing you're pregnant and that is something they ask on it. I completely understand the one year sober thing, I'm in the same boat... But you can get it done afterwords too, much less harm for the baby. Baby should be first on your mind right now, not tattoos that could potentially harm your baby....
7536154 tn?1400112427 That's no actual evidence saying how much the chemicals in the ink will effect the developing fetus. The biggest risk are the normal risk of tattoos. (Hep b, hiv/aids) If you're dead set of getting one go to a clean shop. With a good record. And don't go crazy with getting the actually tattoo. I don't think it would be a good time for a full sleeve.
Avatar f tn s bad to get a tattoo while pregnant. Why would u get a tattoo when ur pregnant. Why not wait...
9677729 tn?1411047370 I wouldn't and a tattoo parlor won't tattoo you if you're pregnant I wouldn't because risk of disease from them not using new needles and the way it will heal is different pregnant I'm not 100% sure why but they just won't tattoo you if they are a responsible parlor
Avatar f tn You can get a tattoo any time you want. During pregnancy or after, just know that during pregnancy its not advised due to the high risk factors like getting hepatitis C, HIV, bacteria infections and now ebola (which is only contracted through bodily fluids) which can be very harmful not only to you but also to the baby.
Avatar f tn if I do happen to get an infection after being tattooed during pregnancy it'll hurt the baby more than you. trust me I want a tattoo so bad.
Avatar f tn the risk of infection. As safe and clean as a health certified tattoo parlor can be you always run the risk of infecton when piercing the skin (millions of times for a tattoo) Also with infection you will often get a fever which is not good for baby. I have 5 tattoos total (none during preg) and did have a reaction to the ink in one of them, its just not worth the risk to baby.
Avatar f tn I looked it up & this is what I found from the Mayo Clinic.... A lower back tattoo won't necessarily prevent you from having an epidural during labor. The exception would be if the tattoo is red, swollen or oozing fluid — or if the tattoo is recent and the affected skin is still healing. Research on tattoos and epidurals is limited. Theoretical concerns — such as the development of skin cancer in the affected area years later — remain controversial.
7870205 tn?1394930625 Good question. I wanna know to lol.
Avatar f tn I disagree completely with the lady above. You can do a simple search on line and get thousands of warnings not to get a tattoo during pregnancy. The mercury is a concern (the comment about vaccines is ill informed), the fact that your immunity is lower during pregnancy is a concern, and not just with getting the tattoo, also taking care of it after.
Avatar f tn It's not a good idea actually. Tattoo artists will not tattoo pregnant women. On top of that, you don't know how the ink will take to your skin , risk of infection is doubled and it won't heal properly. Even if you aren't showing you shouldn't do it for the health of your child. Tattoo shops aren't going to go out of business in the next 7 months.
Avatar m tn Hello~I would say from your description, that a nerve in your arm was hit during the tattoo process, I would see your physician about it.
7390706 tn?1403042270 Also most, if not all, reputable tattoo places will refuse service during pregnancy as it is a liability. Usually when you fill put paperwork theres a spot you check if you're pregnant and then they won't alow service.
Avatar n tn The tattoo artist was not wearing a mask during our tattoo session.. The tattoo artist informs me that all the materials used for tattoo is sterilized... (Tattoo motor was cleaned, plastic cup for the ink is disposable, all needle are sealed artist used a gloves) but after our session the tattoo artist told me that the ink is not new. The distance for putting the ink in the plastic cup for tattoo is one inch so the tip of the bottle will not hit the ink...
1885931 tn?1371771436 Also it depends on where you get the tattoo at.
Avatar n tn Okay I Know Its Strange But I Really Want to Get A Tattoo But Idk If Its Safe For The Baby Is It Ok Or No My First Pregnancy And I'm Really Not Sure
