897362 tn?1318121281 My dentist thinks I may need a root canal. Have any pregnant women here had a root canal in their second trimester? Can they still give me anesthetic during the procedure? I decided I need to go ahead and have it done as it's affecting what foods I can stand to eat. I'm just a little nervous about it!
Avatar m tn Is it possible to have a cavity and need a root canal on a tooth that already had a root canal done? Can an endodontist take care of the cavity during the root canal or do I need to do two separate procedures one with a general dentist for the cavity and one with the endodontist for the root canal?
Avatar f tn So I'm 30 weeks and I have a root canal tomorrow morning and I was wondering if anyone has had one and how comfortable or painful it will be
Avatar m tn anyways I had a root canal done on my bottom #31 molar...during th root canal the dds had issue with it, one of the canals was calicified over...im 30 and he said he would normally see this in 80 yr old? so anyways he kept trying to open it ans perferated the tooth, i was at the dds from 2 pm til 6:30 pm and about 6 he perfeated it after working hours on it.
Avatar f tn I signed a document stating that unintended damage could occur during root canals. What do you think? Even if I get a free root canal I still have to shell out $1300 for a crown. DAME IT! Thanks Kittyface Thanks!
Avatar n tn I didn't know I need a root canal, but when I found out I did go get a root canal. The gum on top of the root canal that I got done it was red and got a white spot like a ball. When I pressed or touched it feels tender. I was on antibiotic. I hope it to heal, but now I think it getting worst. 3 months after root canal, the redness is spreading and feeling tender. What is wrong? Is this an infection that is caused during the root canal procedure?
Avatar n tn More than likely the residual pain that you are experiencing is from the infection that is still present and the actually trauma that the tooth has during the root canal procedure.I think it will take a while for the tooth to calm down and for the infection to dissipate. Make sure that the tooth is out of occlusion which means you can not feel it when you put your teeth together.
Avatar f tn The dentist say she can see small infection however it will be better if it can be compared to the xray taken before root canal. Therefore I showed it to her and she say the infection is larger before root canal. What she recommended now is monitor. Please advise guys ... I don't want to risk it hurting during my trip to Taiwan. If it is infected once again, I won't hesitate to pull it out.
Avatar f tn Are you saying I should schedule an appointment to the previous dentist who already did the root canal treatment to my teeth or go to a root canal specialist?
Avatar n tn I just had a root canal done through a crown..isn't the dentist suppose to put a new crown on to protect the root canal just done??...........or can he just seal it??.....
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on #8 almost a month ago (there was no infection present, just irreversible pulpitis), had significant initial post-procedure pain and it was cleaned out again and left unfinished for 3 weeks.
Avatar f tn I didn't know they existed. I was told this tooth held up a lot of his snout's structure so it would be a good idea to keep it instead of extract it. Has anyone tried canine root canal before? How expensive is it and is waiting a week mean he will loose the tooth?
646040 tn?1223600239 It really does sound a lot scarier than it is. I've had 4 root canals and I'm the biggest sissy out. But I'd much rather have had the root canals instead of the alternative which would have been losing the teeth altogether. Once you're totally numbed up you basically just have to lay back and keep your mouth open.....there should be no pain during the procedure providing you've had enough novocain.
Avatar m tn The nerve and pulp of the tooth are removed, and the interior is cleaned and sealed during a root canal operation. Without treatment, the tissue around the tooth may get infected, resulting in an abscess.
Avatar m tn About 4 years ago I started experiencing pain in my left upper first molar when eating anything (not heat-related at this time). I was told it was due to a wisdom tooth that was still in the gum, so I had it removed. Then, when the pain remained, I had a root canal done on the molar. The pain remained, and I just dealt with it for a few years. Then I got an infection and was told that the pain and infection were related to my second molar (this was by a different dentist).
Avatar n tn Still had pain, was sent to another endontist, for second opinion, who could not be conclusive, but thought pain was coming from molar behind the tooth with root canal which has the crown seated temporarily. Endodontist did root canal on the second tooth, behind root canal done first. That tooth was sensitive to cold but that has stopped since root canal a week ago. I am still having pain in the molar that had the first root canal. I am on a 4th round of antiboitics.
Avatar n tn Tsang was correct, and my dentist will have to go back into the tooth. During the root canal, on the second canal he was "doing", my dentist said something to the effect that he came to a 'dead end'. I asked in my follow-up appointment, "Did that mean you came to the end of the root and went into the gums?" and he said no, he just couldn't get any further.
Avatar m tn PS Jerome, No root canal was done on tooth # 18. Also could the be a prolonged side effects from the anesthesa as it was administered twice and I could still feel the tooth heating up during drilling and it felt as though the pulp was hit twice as I nearly came out of my seat both times.
Avatar m tn Or he did in on purpose just to earn money from the root canal treatment? now after the root canal the pain is hardly there and still waiting for next week final treatment for the final sealing etc.I am so devastated,my old filings is there like more than 10 years and never caused any pain till my dentist suggestead that there is crack and old filling are comming off so a redo of filings and worse is causing more pain and a need for root canal treatment.
Avatar f tn That did not help and was switched to amoxicillin, followed by a root canal. The root canal was a week ago but the lump from the abscess is still on my gum. Is this normal? I was not put on antibiotics after the root canal but I took the last 2 amox. From the prescrip I had been given the week before.
