Common Questions and Answers about Fainting during heat

fainting

Avatar f tn Over my life time I have fainted 3 times (I am 25). First time was during studying I was standing and answering questions. The second time was when a friend of mine was putting makeup on me, once again I was standing, but I kept moving my legs so I wouldn't lock them. The third time I was in college and I was sitting at a picnic table with some friends and I fainted. I am not sure what caused the fainting either time. All three were completely different and the length was different as well.
Avatar n tn Did they test his glucose again while in ER? What scans were performed? Are you in area where there is high heat? If yes, was he well hydrated prior to going outside? I would schedule a visit with a doctor for a full health examination which should include stress testing [heart], and an A1c test to see how well he is controlling his glucose levels.
Avatar n tn The last few times I was outside without any intense physical activity I experienced a numbness in my right foot followed minutes later by a blackout which would have resulted in me fainting had it not been for the fact that I have fainted before and can recognize when I am about to pass out before actually hitting the ground.

492869 tn?1285018933 With the frequent fainting episodes often associated with Autonomic Dysfunction, I'd appreciate some insight from the community on how to prevent injuries. I, (like many here I'd assume), have had multiple head injuries resulting from my faints. I've fallen into furniture, down flights of stairs, etc. It's a concern of mine, even more so after my most recent head injury. Last summer a couple of us posted ideas about tolerating the summertime heat.
Avatar f tn I have POTS too the heat can its issues with me as well. I do have a cooling vest myself and I am an adult. Your son can get prescription for one and have written in his IEP (individual Education Plan) that he can wear it. Also may help if you look into possible weekly IV saline infusions if he is symptomatic. I have found it helpful for me and I get year round. I get 2 liters weekly. Some medications may be helpful. Two good sites to look into for more information is www.
Avatar f tn Did u try finding out the reason?? I know fainting can be caused by many things during pregnancy but some can lead to more complex situation.. U ahould consult ur doctor as it could be due to high or low blood pressure or dehydration etc...

Avatar f tn I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and since i was 12 weeks I have the tendancy to faint, i feel fine one minute and then the next im on the ground, but when i snap out of it i feel realllly energetic, its kinda weird. I asked my DOC about this and she said I need to get more snacks in during the day But I eat ALOT at least every 2 hours. I've heard this is normal through many pregnancies, but has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for anyone who can help.
Avatar f tn JIC thought I should add that as a child and teen I often had heat strokes and sometimes fainted as a result. This went away in my early 20s. This fainting is a little different, I don't get the cold sweat or "tunnel" hearing that I did with the heat strokes and it happens much faster now.
Avatar n tn the first time i faint was on my first day in Gym, which the coach assured me its natural ! then after few weeks i got a feeling that i can't take my breath to the max capacity of my lungs but those symptoms went away after a couple of weeks ..
7748835 tn?1393868668 I take a hot bath and my heart rate goes up to 180 most times and I feel quite dizzy, short of breath, shaky. I get very tired during exercise. I can hear my heart beat in my ears during exercise and get very short of breath. (I have asthma also, but controlled, and sob not from asthma) I need to know what this could be immediantly.
917177 tn?1243354247 Is it normal for one to experience lightheadedness and fainting during menstruation? It's happened to me so many times before, typically as soon as my period/cramping starts I'll feel lightheaded, sweaty, and I'll fall to the floor and sit with my head on my knees. Occasionally this happens in the shower, or upon standing up if i wake up with my period, or even if it starts while I'm seated during a class.
12313690 tn?1424621402 Vagal nerve dysfunction, such as vasovagal syncope (fainting) and pre-syncope (the set of symptoms that precede fainting, even if you don't end up actually fainting), is a type of "dysautonomia." This means that your autonomic nervous system, the part of your nervous system that controls homeostasis and "automatic" functions such as body temperature and heart rate, is not functioning properly for some reason.
