Avatar n tn ( Which came normal). But while drawing blood , an incident occured. Just before taking my blood, the syringe came very close to the technician (might have just touched him.) Assuming it just pricked him , does it pose any risk of HIV ? Thanks......
1448936 tn?1363206346 I started to get anxious during it and got really hot and wanted to jump up and run away. The lady drawing my blood was asking if I was ok which made me nervous so I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded. The bloodwork was done 7 hours ago but I'm still feeling like I'm slightly lightheaded with a headache. Now I'm really anxious and don't know if I am having issues from the bloodwork or its just my anxiety. I'm really scared right now.
Avatar m tn s blood bank. Just before drawing my blood the phlebotomist was adjusting the needle of a IV line which was inserted in the veins of a person donating blood,as the iv line wasn't working. He took out the iv needle and then felt for the persons vein closed to the puncture wound and then reinserted the needle. After finishing he then felt my veins with his same bare hands and took my blood. He wasn't wearing gloves in both occasions.
Avatar n tn I am in the healthcare field and I assure you, NO ONE is going to reuse anything on you and everyone is trained in proper procedure for drawing blood. There is no way HIV could have been transmitted in this manner you have described. HIV cannot be transmitted outside of its host, period. On another note, I am appalled the woman taking your blood did not wear gloves. The gloves are for HER safety- not yours. The gloves protect her from coming into contact with the patient's blood.
Avatar f tn s not a clinical reason that your blood pressure is dropping drastically. It can be normal, but excessive fainting and weakness needs to be checked out immediately. I wouldn't worry, most likely it's just something about your body having trouble adjusting to this part of pregnancy, but you need to be seen to find out why, because it CAN be an indicator of pregnancy-related complications.
Avatar m tn No there is no worry here about infection. Often the blood drawing person will pre-clean their finger before drawing blood because they need to feel where the vein is. This is actually common practice. You don't have any fever do you? If not I wouldn't worry about it at all. I used to draw blood and you have to feel the vein before drawing the blood.
Avatar f tn The blood is taken out and not injected inside you while drawing blood. Dont complicate things .if there was blood in the syringe you might have known rite?and most of the labs use new syringes for drawing blood. Please move on!!!!
Avatar f tn Generally the fainting is due to anemia or vaso-vagal attack following low blood volume. Please drink plenty of fluids during this time. Get your hemoglobin level checked. Take a good multivitamin for a few months. Consult a gynecologist. Sometimes a hormone therapy is needed to control the painful heavy periods. At times it is due to endometriosis, ovarian cysts or uterine fibroids. In some cases it is hereditary. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn the first time i faint was on my first day in Gym, which the coach assured me its natural ! then after few weeks i got a feeling that i can't take my breath to the max capacity of my lungs but those symptoms went away after a couple of weeks ..
Avatar f tn I fainted at a train station, did my usual throwing up thing but I didn’t really come round from the fainting for a good hour. So an ambulance was called and after not being able to wake me and my blood pressure being ‘in my boots’ as they called it, they rushed me to hospital. Though of course by the time I was seen (4 hour wait) I was absolutely fine desperate for something to eat. The only thing they could advise was when I got home I should see a gynaecologist.
175317 tn?1256853321 Not wearing gloves during blood drawing is poor technique, and you should inform the institution where this occurred that the blood drawing staff is not performing their job correctly.
Avatar f tn Did u try finding out the reason?? I know fainting can be caused by many things during pregnancy but some can lead to more complex situation.. U ahould consult ur doctor as it could be due to high or low blood pressure or dehydration etc...
Avatar n tn ) I think I pass out mostly due to me having really low blood pressure during pregnancy.. I would talk to your doctor about it of you're worried.
Avatar n tn Low blood sugar could have caused it. Keep peanut butter crackers on you and something to drink. I have to due to my hypoglycemia. I have always had it but it gets worse with pregnancy. I also have heard many women getting it during pregnancy and then it going away after.
