492869 tn?1285018933 Because heat intolerance is such a major trigger for syncope, showers/baths are often cited (even in the medical literature) as problematic for those prone to fainting. Check if your insurance will pay for the shower chair if your doctor writes a prescription for it. Both my shower chair and hand-held shower head with glide bar (and the installation thereof) were paid for by my Medicare/Medicaid. 2. Rollator walker: A rollator walker is a wheeled walker with a seat on it.
Avatar f tn ve been having a flare of my symptoms, and Monday at work I stood up from my chair, took a step, and completely blacked out. No warning at all. On my way of falling to the floor, I smashed my forehead on a desk, my chin on the desk, the back of my head on another desk, then a cubicle wall, then smashed my back into the edge of a desk, finally smashing the back of my head again on the wheel of a chair. Needless to say, I don't remember ten minutes before the event at all.
Avatar n tn Today it happened in a long line at the store, I was waiting about 10 minutes in line and I started getting woozy and weak and my vision started to black out. I made it to a chair and fanned myself for a few minutes and it took a while to go away. Is this normal? I've heard of the dizziness being common, but my vision really starts to turn black and I get light headed. Both times I have had plenty of fluids and protien in my system so its not that.
Avatar n tn The other day, my mom had what doctors believed was a fainting episode. After getting up from the couch, she started to feel nauseous and lightheaded. This lasted for about two minutes. Immediately, she sat down in a chair and began to slip in and out of consciousness for a few minutes. She was white as a ghost and broke out in a cold sweat. She immediately recovered and felt much better afterward.
1512628 tn?1304974064 As of yet there remains to be no ryhme or reason why I went from the occasional fainting to a wheel chair so that I could leave my bed and crawling to the bathroom behind!!! Any thoughts???
Avatar n tn Each time he was sitting down and then blacked out for a split second. He has fallen off a chair and a bench and hit the floor. The other times we happened to catch him. He's had an EEG, MRI, EKGs and chest x-rays, they've all been normal. His DRs don't believe this is all neurological, cardiologists don't believe he needs any cardiology follow-ups. Please help! What are me missing!!!!????
Avatar f tn I get that all the time. it's just a wonderful pregnancy symptom!
Avatar f tn I don't faint very often anymore, but my daughter still faints multiple times each week. She also has a fear of fainting in some situations. I don't really have any "fainting phobias" though, so it might be a normal fear for those who faint often.
Avatar f tn This morning I was standing on a chair to reach for something and fainted without any symptoms or warning. I fell straight to the ground and woke as I hit the floor flat on my side. What could have caused this episode? I've never fainted before and had no signs that or warning symptoms, no dizziness before or after. I woke, stood u and felt fine, just very sore. I am concerned that this could happen again in more dangerous circumstances.
Avatar m tn There is no real way i can explain, but if i stand on 1 place for a while, if i sit on a chair or lie or anything, when I stand up I instantly get a weird thing that starts from the bottom of my feet to my hands/eyes and back/neck and it is terrible feeling which I really cant discribe, please help me out here. This is just something that happens physically, nothing mental changed but please dont tell me to go see a doctor cuz long story short I really cant atm.
Avatar m tn It is a problem if there are symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, etc. The link given may be of some help, if not you are welcome to followup on this thread. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Avatar f tn Everything was looking sort of black. I had to hold on to my husband or I would have fainted. He got me to a chair and he told me later that I was cold, clammy and very pale. I went into the restroom but could not go. On the ride home I started to feel better but still having cramps feeling. Within the next 2 hours at home I had three Bm,s that filled the bowl! Sorry to be so blunt. I've read stories similar to mine. I hate the feeling of blacking out.
Avatar n tn i have had an echocardiogram ecg which came back fine i am now to have a 24 hour holter and tilt table test. the cardologist believes fainting is just due to low blood pressue.. i have been refused my nursing placement due to these faints even though i was cleared by occupational health. they were advised to do a risk assessment of each placement o check dangers risks to me .
967168 tn?1477584489 2 years ago at the age of 42 I had a heart procedure done where my heart stopped 3 times and I suffered nerve damage throughout my body and what my dr thinks was oxygen loss and mild brain damage. I also have moderate obstructive sleep apnea and have loss of oxgen which I think makes the problem worse. Could that brain damage and oxygen deprivation cause dementia/alzeheimers? how do I tell?
Avatar n tn After fainting, my pulse was 110 and my BP was 104/59, and stayed that way for the 20 minutes the nurses insisted I lay in the chair. After fainting, I could feel my heartbeat, and it felt fluttering or irregular. I have felt the sensation before, and it usually quickly clears up on it's own. The only thing I can think of that might have triggered it is the rapid heart rate that accompanies recovery from fainting as blood pressure is restored.
1806721 tn?1554333407 My normal BP is 90/60-100/70. However, I've been at around 150/90 for three days in a row. It all started from a root canal retreatment that my dentist insisted me to sit through after I almost pass out on his chair when receiving anaesthesia shot. I've been feeling heart palpitation (pulse ~115/min), headache, dizziness, weakness, and occassional fainting spells since then. Also, I was on Medrol 24mg/day for the past 4 days. Not sure if it contributes to this.
211940 tn?1267881266 And about 20 years ago I had the problem of fainting and near fainting for several months. It was mainly associated with the change of positio, going for sitting to standing. There are several different heart conditions that have this problem of feeling like you are going to faint. Have you been seen by a cardiologist to eliminate those possibilities? Remeber that just because we have MS that doesn't mean we will not have anything else wrong with us.
Avatar n tn Then she started fainting up to 20 x a day and we went to ER on a Friday night. At this point the cough from the flu was very severe. They kept her overnight and gave albuterol to help with the coughing. The fainting continued so she had a 24 hr video EEG and saw pediatric neurologist. After 24 hrs and multiple episodes walking, in bed, etc. they determined that her brain and cardiac rhythms were all normal and diagnosed her with psychogenic fainting/seizures.
469264 tn?1215088288 I am a 32 yr. old healthy woman who is very active in sports and outdoor activities. My family doctor is retiring and my new doctor wants to take my driver's license away because of my fainting/dizzy spells. I remember fainting as a child before the first day of school a few times. But since I was 21, I started fainting more often. Sometimes I don't completely loose conciousness and only get really dizzy but I can do some deep breathing to get back to sorts.
Avatar f tn I have experienced near fainting (I think?) several days ago. I was sitting in a chair - then my heart started to “flutter”. I became lightheaded and felt like I could hardly breathe. My vision blurred and turned black and had a sudden rush of coldness. I had a full panel blood test for things that can cause cardiovascular problems, and it all came back normal. I have a family history of Afib, dilated cardiomyopathy and WPWS.
5851018 tn?1375409785 I fainted today at my work, I'm 17, a female, and I work at a pizza place. I was refilling the cheese when I got really really tired, and my vision started blacking out (which is usual if I get up too fast, Ill loose my vision), so I excused my self to the bathroom. When I was there, I leaned my head inbetween my legs to breath, and I started hearing a loud, roaring noise in my ears. I couldn't hear, and I lost feeling in my fingers and stuff.
1834303 tn?1318192625 My husband, as well, has the same issues........hasn't had a fainting episode in over a year but yesterday, while eating watermelon, started to cough from the fruit and passed out, hitting his head. Looked like he was having some type of seizure.....Could not wake him up for a bit.......Went to hospital.......ALL TESTS ARE COMING BACK NEGATIVE.....which I guess is good but really doesn't give me any answers......Not a good way to live.....
407149 tn?1211732507 It's not really dizziness... but it does kind of relate. I've, recently, been having seizure-like symptoms... okay, well, I don't really know what seizures involve, but to me, it's pretty seizure-like. It happened, literally, just this morning.
Avatar n tn I was out for about 10 seconds, he told me i woke up but it took me about a minute before I started talking. When I woke up they had placed me in a chair. I felt very our of it for a little while but felt better fairly quickly. It was very scary. I can tell you I realized my pulse was very very fast I had realized a couple minutes before I fainted. I should have went to he hospital by who wants to when they're on vacation? I know I should have.
6470732 tn?1439556292 I'm glad you're okay now.. Fainting is really serious and you are right, a lot of ladies have been to the point of fainting this week.. It's horrible.

1035880 tn?1282034159 My lips turned blue, under my eyes dark purple and I even had an out of body experience briefly. Dr thinks I may have slumped forward (was in a chair) and temporarily blocked my airway. Anyway these things do happen in ways other than those you named. Yes I had plenty of water and sugar before and after the donation and have been donating for many years so always do the right things. The V V S hadn't been diagnosed before then so that was probably the cause.
Avatar f tn people are telling me too rock in a rocking chair, it helps get the baby moving down... is this true?
