Common Questions and Answers about Fainting blood drawn

fainting

Avatar f tn I am horrible about getting my blood drawn. Not only am I a fainter but it's nearly impossible to find a vein. I went it to get my pregnancy test and blood sample to look into any health problems. They had to poke me five times before they got any blood. Can anyone tell me how many times will I need to get my blood drawn during pregnancy? Just wanting to prepare myself!
Avatar m tn Now just a little back story I was recently tested for HIV (Came out negative) but ever since then I have had been having extreme anxiety about everything and anything. Now this question is related to when I got my blood drawn. Now i didn't watch her take my blood because I don't usually but when it was done and over and when she took it out it kind of hurt a bit.
Avatar f tn Hello, just had my blood drawn and when I took off the tape, I had a bruise and a bunch of little red dots in the crease of my arm, to the right of the bruins. Should I be concerned? I'm only asking because they look like tiny blood clots and I like to make sure it's okay.
Avatar f tn Ftm & I never knew while pregnant we have to get at least 6tubes of blood drawn lol will they continue to draw blood every time I go to the doc?
Avatar f tn I faint just from having blood drawn in the first place, so maybe that is where the misconception came from. Everyone is different. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Avatar n tn im an 18 years old female i wanted to get my blood drawn so the nurse placed the needle and then she was moving it inside my arm and told me she couldn't find a vein i felt light headed and the next thing i know i was laying on the ground, i passed out and she didn't even take any blood. but the thing is i don't have a fear of needle or blood and i'v never passed out before this time. i rely want to know why pleas help ?
393685 tn?1425812522 Even though I have this nasty new problem on my back with the nodule Dx - I am soooo excited to have my blood drawn tomorrow. Medication wise----- I feel so much better and I am hoping the new dosage change 6 weeks ago proves that!!! Except for that lung stuff I had two weeks ago I feel great. No more panic - no depression - no heart palps- little acid no burning tongue - no IBS - . I almost feel like me --- like I use to.
Avatar m tn The next time you have your blood drawn.......watch much more carefully. They are very quick. They draw hundreds of labs a day. That you missed her actually opening the new needle, well, that's just how it went. If you are THAT paranoid, as soon as you walk in next time, say loud and clear "I want to see you open the new needle!" Most will be happy to accomodate your fear. I don't know why there seems to be a rash of this particular fear on the fourm lately.
Avatar n tn I went and got tested by getting my blood drawn at my 12th week mark. The next morning I woke up to a patch of these brown freckle looking spots on the back of my right hand. I know nobody in the US reuses needles but I immediately thought by human error, could it be possible? I showed my hand to a dermatologist but he was unsure what it was. The test came back negative but now I have a fear. Should get retested or am I thinking irrationally? Also, is a 12 weeks test conclusive vs.
1448936 tn?1363206346 I think your anxiety is from having the blood drawn and not an adverse reaction. I've had the same thing happen to me before while having blood drawn. If you keep thinking about it and the possible reactions your anxiety is going to stay sky high. Nurses deal with people all the time that feel anxious during any kind of procedure. It was nice of her to ask if you were alright. I hope your feeling better now.
560501 tn?1383612740 Also I commend both you and her Drs as I had blood drawn for 10 years and all symptoms minus fainting yet I was always told depression. You have been an incredible parent to believe her and push through until she got a diagnosis!
1937073 tn?1323612750 Just to be on the safe side, get blood work drawn for thyroid, diabetes, Celiac disease, since it's a change. One in about 130 people has Celiac disease, and the majority do not even realize it. If you were to test positive (blood tests) and get on the diet, you could avoid a lifetime of complications from the malnutrition and other autoimmune disease and cancers it can lead to. Find out so you can stay young feeling and pretty as long as possible.
Avatar n tn Hi-just a volunteer, not a doctor, diabetic for 25 years. I would suggest getting a second opionion. Any doctor who dismisses your thoughts and feelings doesn't sound like he/she is the best for you. I think you need to get blood drawn to have an accurate test for your blood sugar reading. 197 sounds too high-but may not be accurate, since being a volunteer on the site, I have discovered if there is a residue like orange juice on your hands it could effect your glucose reading.
255722 tn?1452546541 I am noticing that many of us seem to have more than one "symptom." I started passing out when I was about 14. At first there were very "good" reasons for passing out. The first time I had been on the beach all day and had a pretty *bright* sunburn. We went out to dinner as a family in a very air conditioned building and I went out like a lamp. Scared EVERYONE, but by the time the ER docs got a hold of me I was A-OK.
Avatar f tn If the brain does not get enough blood, the brain may not get enough oxygen and sugar, causing fainting. Or if the level of oxygen or sugar in the blood decreases, the brain may not get enough of them. Many disorders interfere with getting enough oxygen and sugar to the brain and thus can cause fainting. A less common reason for fainting is temporary interruption of consciousness by a seizure.
Avatar f tn As you know I suffer from OCD and my questions are irrational but I need one more professional opinion. Two months ago I had hiv elisa and rpr-vdrl tests. I get nervous when blood is drawn so I didn't look where the nurse took the needle from. So later I started to worry what if it was reused (I live in Peru). I went back to the clinic and they assured me that the needles are never reused. I should trust what they've told me?
Avatar f tn Ive been hurt too many times that way. I always have blood drawn from the back of my hands using a butterfly. I have big easy to see veins there and seldom bruise with the right compression afterwards. And yes, the phlebotomist makes all the difference in the world.
Avatar f tn Then I saw there is a left cover with some blood stain for needle blood drawn usage. OK. I dunno what is the usage of the cover so I ignore it. Then after that she open a new needle and stuck it to the cover. Ohhhhh. I quickly tell her there blood there, but then she say is okay. Ur blood drawn is coming in not coming out. But I still can't take it. I ask her to change new one, she say this cover only got one and she just use to wash it.
Avatar f tn Consider therapy to deal with your HIV phobia, rather than waste years of your life worrying about a non-event.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experinced a fainting/passing out moment? Definitely not from low blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I'm 11 weeks and I have been continously fainting at work. I'll lose my vision and hearing and just completely pass out. They keep telling me it's because I'm dehydrated but I'm drinking plenty of water and Gatorade and my blood pressure is very low. No one will really look more into it. I am very scared for my health and about losing my job over it. Please help.
