Fainting blood disorder

Common Questions and Answers about Fainting blood disorder

fainting

Avatar f tn Often in people who have this disorder, they experience loss of muscle tone which presents similarly to fainting after experiencing emotion (anger, excitement, surprise, laughter). In my case, I thought I was having fainting spells, but was actually experiencing Cataplexy, which is when your body actually abruptly enters a REM sleep cycle. Since we are paralyzed while we are in REM sleep cycles, it results in a sudden loss of muscle tone or fainting.

Avatar n tn Does anyone else have these symptoms? (Vandy diagnosed Autonomic Disorder/possible POTS in my daughter 6 years ago.) Two odd things about her- the onset age and the seizing. She began passing out at age 3 and still does at 22. By passing out, I mean that she actually seizes, stiff limbs and body and back arched, and then after it ends is usually nauseated, takes awhile to be able to stand, and is worn out the rest of the day.
Avatar f tn He has not been getting consistent sleep, I think his nutrition is less than desirable, and beer may not be helping. He is 47 and has been on blood pressure meds for years. He is not one for regular checkups. I don't know what to do. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have occasional spells of fainting with an increased heart rate that lasts all day, My heart rate is usually at about 48. It spikes to over 130. I have had EKGs done, and EEG done, and an ultr sound on my heart. The results show that my heart is fine. It can come on randomly. They thought maybe I had diabetes, that was not correct. I faint no matter what I do. It happened while I was laying down, sitting, while driving, and just walking.
Avatar n tn Shortly after passing my annual physical last week, I fainted during the following blood test (fainting in the clinic quite normal for me following needle sticks). After fainting, my pulse was 110 and my BP was 104/59, and stayed that way for the 20 minutes the nurses insisted I lay in the chair. After fainting, I could feel my heartbeat, and it felt fluttering or irregular. I have felt the sensation before, and it usually quickly clears up on it's own.
Avatar f tn I agree, it was most likely the vagus nerve. I have Vasovagal Syncope disorder, meaning I get this response a lot. Just being on my feet for a long time can cause me to black out. Cardiologists use the tilt table test to diagnose the disorder, but since it has rarely happened to you, that's not relevant to you.
Avatar f tn sounds like you are very stressed out and yes I believe this could cause fainting however you should get it checked out, are you eating okay as low blood sugar can cause light headed and dizziness and possible fainting, how is your blood pressure. Are you taking any Meds could cause insomnia ?
Avatar f tn If the brain does not get enough blood, the brain may not get enough oxygen and sugar, causing fainting. Or if the level of oxygen or sugar in the blood decreases, the brain may not get enough of them. Many disorders interfere with getting enough oxygen and sugar to the brain and thus can cause fainting. A less common reason for fainting is temporary interruption of consciousness by a seizure.
Avatar m tn My daughter (15) has had "fainting" spells. It started with one week where she felt ill and fainted in school. She was out for a good 20 minutes, and her eyes where rolled back - fluttering. She was still "out" when the ambulance arrived. During that week she fainted a number of times (quick breathing and fuzzy periferal vision) and didn't feel like herself. Very bad headache over her right eye. It didn't happen for a few weeks so we thought it was a virus.
Avatar n tn My 19 year old daughter was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncopy in April of 2008. Since she has been treated with Fluorinef (.3), Zoloft. She has begun to have high blood pressure and now is fainting every day or so. They have weaned her to .1 Fluorinef at this point. The cardiologist has said it is not their problem, to see the neurologist. The neurologist is concerned and is sending us to another cardiologist. However, in the interim, the fainting is a problem in our minds.
Avatar m tn Are you currently taking any medication ? Whether for your anxiety or not. The dizziness can be caused by a spike in your blood pressure. The toothbrush next to your head can be from the blood pressure spike. People experience different feelings when they are on the verge of fainting. I'm not saying that you are going to pass out, but, if it is your blood pressure, you can. The next time it happens, make sure you have fresh air, and sitting if possible. Take slow deep breaths.

Avatar n tn during our office visit. I am confused exactly what a Shuddering Disorder is and what causes it. The neurologist said we could conduct further testing but did not feel it was necessary because he appears to be developing normally and the testing requires sedation. Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn From the time I was 19 I have developed hives, swelling, and itching when I go into the sun. It doesn't happen every time I'm in the sun, but it's more likely to happen when the sun is shining very brightly. I've discovered that if I can get out of the sun when my skin starts to tingle and burn, the reaction is not as bad.
