Common Questions and Answers about Fainting and alcohol

fainting

Avatar f tn Recently during a catch up with family I fainted. Over the previous two hours I had about 4 standard drinks. I had a small meal just before I started drinking. Granted it wasn't a large meal but it was still food. My cousin told me I had a "seizure" when I but I haven't had a chance since then to really talk to him.
Avatar n tn Is it possible that it would increase my Blood alcohol level?
Avatar n tn I agree with SassyLassie... hotness, rapid heart-rate, tingling, and dizziness are classic signs of panic / anxiety, but fainting is not. You might think or feel like you are going to faint from a panic attack, but your blood pressure tends to go through the roof during a panic attack - preventing you from fainting. You should have a thorough check-up to rule out potential heart and hormone issues.
1634318 tn?1300070431 Then after a few minutes I think I was fainting and my lips were deeply white without squeezing my lips and I think I was breathing hard because I though my body needed more oxygen and I actually though they were going to call the ambulance but what my mom did she gave me food and sniffed alcohol and the alcohol was actually helping. Do you doctors need more information I need to give you because I really do need your help? Also can this cause my feet to be itchy? .
1834303 tn?1318192625 My husband is NOT sick and this does not happen because he is sick or has recently been sick, it just happens! My husband tries to cough, can't get any air and passes out... it has happened about 5 times in the past 2-3 years; it used to just happen if he was drinking alcohol, after 3-4 beers. I used to think maybe the alcohol somehow caused his airway to get inflammed or something to restrict the airflow....

Avatar f tn It has been going on for over 1 year. Lately I have been fainting and falling alot (very embarrising since I am in High School). Just recently I have also been getting severe leg and back cramps/spasms. I am having a hard time sleeping at night getting only about 3 to 4 hours of sleep. This has also been going on for over 1 year. I have seen several doctors, who have run MRI's, CAT scans and they all have done blood work. Everything always comes up normal.
Avatar f tn July 2009 Another night of drinking, but only had three mixed drinks that were not very heavy on alcohol, maybe one shot - one and a half piece. I remember feeling like the alcohol hit me hard, like I had had about twice that amount if not more. By the end of the night I had fallen asleep, and woken up to go to the bathroom. Before I entered the bathroom, I lost conciousness. I woke up to a friend standing over me asking if I was alright. Again I had urinated myself.
1102792 tn?1285925260 36 m, started having sudden severe stomach pain and fainting after taking strong spirits about 6 months ago. This is a new illness to me, I take antacids occasional to control stomach pain when I take aspirins for my heart condition. Avatar n tn Vertigo that occurs with loss of function in one area of the body can mean a problem in the brain, such as a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). -Alcohol and many prescription and nonprescription medicines can cause lightheadedness or vertigo. These problems may develop from: -Taking too much of a medicine (overmedicating). -Alcohol and medicine interactions. This is a problem, especially for older adults, who may take many medicines at the same time.
Avatar f tn The chest pains continued every few days and they were given Imdur. The imdur caused extreme dizziness and near fainting along witht he worst head ache and a "foggy" feeling. The patient was told by one cardiologist:"we dont know much about this and you may just have to love with it". The patient is 42 with no smoking, normal to low BP (normal of 100/60 for them) , in great shape. The Imdur has proved worse for quality of life then the actual anigna attacks.
Avatar f tn The acute effects of alcohol depend on the concentration of alcohol in the blood (directly correlated with the amount and time of drinking). Initially, alcohol generally produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness, but further consumption can lead to blurred vision and coordination problems. After excessive drinking, unconsciousness can occur and extreme levels of consumption can lead to alcohol poisoning and death. Hence, it is definitely not due to stroke or heart attack.
Avatar f tn Decreased magnesium levels mostly due to chronic alcohol intake and malnutrition, malabsorption and digestive system disorders can manifest as muscle spasms, twitching and tremors along with other symptoms. You could have hypernatremia if there has been any fluid loss due to vomiting or diarrhea and inadequate water intake. This also is known to cause muscle twitching and tremor along with abdominal cramps and other dehydration symptoms.
Avatar f tn I sort of fell out of my chair and crawled to the bathroom and proceeded to have epic diarrhea while barfing my brains out into a trash bag and teetering on the edge of fainting. This was not my finest hour and it went on for maybe around 10 minutes or so. Even after there was nothing left, I kept retching unproductively for a while. When I could stand up safely, I was still feeling very faint and dizzy and was now weak and shaky from all the violent purging.
Avatar f tn Other factors could be different foods such as cheese, chocolate, alcohol and even few fruits. Few women experience headache more commonly during the time of their menstrual periods & at the time of hormonal imbalance. I would suggest careful record of events that have proceeded with the attack and avoid those factors. In addition, try to rest in a dark & quiet room, meditate, have a balanced diet and avoid taking unnecessary drugs.

Avatar f tn Fainting 3 times in one hour last Friday. I went dinner and afterwards (within one hour) I felt horrible. I started to feel like I was going to throw up. I ended up fainting 3 times in one hour and went to the ER. They did a CT scan and monitored my heart for about an hour. Nothing was abnormal on those. My white cell count was moderately elevated. They called me yesterday (Sunday) saying my hemoglobin was low and that I needed to get a follow up with a doctor.
