The full dose of Radiotherapy can be given only once in a lifetime and hence a low dose has been advised. However, it also carries a risk of malignant transformation that increases over time. Hence I would recommend a full dose. You should also explore Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Gamma Knife and Cyber Knife.
Avatar m tn I think that having surgery is viable but know that in say 10 years, it might look a bit different due to the aging process. The elasticity of our skin changes a bit and every person reacts differently to surgery. But older ladies and much older than 50 get facial plastic surgery all the time with success. I think they will likely want to make sure you are overall healthy before the surgery but you shouldn't have any problem getting surgery on the face at 50!
Avatar m tn But however cosmetic surgery is so advanced and there is really very good treatment for facial scars. As your scar seems to be really very big then it should be analyzed if it has been hypertrophied or attached to inner fascia. Most probable treatment for such scar is excision which needs surgery with local anesthesia under out patient basis. If the scar is located other than facial line like Mandibular line or nose line then a careful pre surgical preparation is needed to adjust it cosmetically.

Avatar n tn Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels. In my opinion you should discuss these treatment options with a cosmetologist/dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn When treatment is needed the most common options are non-prescription drugs which cause the skin to be saturated with water. Eventually the skin peels away taking the virus particles with it. Moist patches are another option, and these are placed over the affected area for 48 hours at a time. Success depends on the size of the wart and the depth of its growth. Flat wart remedies may take up to three months to work.

Do you think it is possible that all symptoms arose from surgery. Most important....he had an active cold sore on his bottom left lip. Could a herpes virus do all this damage even to the eye.

Avatar f tn This morning I woke up and my facial skin was red, tight, puffy and somewhat itchy. I have racked my brain as to what caused this reaction. I ate a "curry in a hurry" processed vegan burrito, which I've never had before. This is the only thing different that I can think of. No change in medications, laundry soap, body soap. I do have allergies to cats and shellfish. It is now 6:15 pm and the symptoms have improved slightly, but still present.
