Common Questions and Answers about Face and tongue numbness symptoms

tongue

Avatar f tn Yes, lower lip, tip of tongue and itching around nose/chin and mostly right side of face for no reason. The tongue and lip have been numb and tingling for 3 months now and I still don't have a good reason for why. My PCP has chalked it down to being something neurological since we treated for thrush and the tingling and numbness is still there. How long have you been experiencing this? Have you talked to your doctor about it yet?
Avatar n tn Many possibilities exist, and depend somewhat on your age, your risk factors, and the nature of your symptoms (whether or not the numbness started suddenly or gradually, whether it is a complete loss of sensation or a tingling, whether it is an objective finding on examination or it is only a feeling that you have etc). Facial numbness can have several causes.
Avatar f tn I do sometimes experience some burning on the right hand side of my face and tongue numbness. On occasions the tongue numbness is really bad but usually not long lasting but of late often my tongue on the underneath but just feels numb or like pressure or tight sensation. When this occurs I seem to have some type of head pain but more like a random shooting pain.

Avatar f tn Suddenly her voice became slurred, and her face and tongue became numb. She found it hard to swallow. I took her B/P and it was 240/135. Pulse 120. Took her to the hospital and they left her lying on a trolley from 1030 to 1700 when they gave her a tablet to bring down the B/P and let her come home. They kept saying it was a migraine even though she had absoutely no pain. I became one of those ex nurses that start to question how they reach their diagnosis.

Avatar n tn I am a 28 y/o female and i have been having numbness in my face, left arm, and feet for about 4 weeks. I have had a MRI a EKG, multiple blood tests including Lyme and vitamin deficiencies which have all come back normal. I have also been having anxiety attacks lately which i was recently prescribed celexa. My doctor said the numbness could be caused by the anxiety. I have run out of ideas on what to do any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Is it common to have tongue numbness and lips numbness with fibro? It also seems i every day i get a new symptom is this normal also?
Avatar f tn About 10 month ago I started having tongue tingling (sometimes stiff and seemed I have to make extra effort when talking) and chin (plus right lower face) numbness. They went away for 2-3 months and then came back, this time with more symptoms, such as sharp pain behind my right ear and above eyebrows and tingling toes. So far I have done three MRIs for brain and two MRIs for C-spine (all with contrasts). All came back essential negative, so no dx yet.
Avatar n tn This is accompanied by simultaneous ipsilateral (same side) numbness of the tongue. This numbness is caused by compression of the second cervical root (C2) in the atlantoaxial space. Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor (both dentist and orthopedic specialist) and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar n tn In the past 6 months I have had continual numbness on the left side of my face, tongue and throat...now i am having heart flutter and feel that the headaches are making me very anxious. I have been to 2 neurologists and several other doctors trying to get to the bottom of this. I had and MRI(no contrast) and they cannot find the cause. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as a next step? Or waht this may possibly be? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn My symptoms have been recurring over the past two years. I will get numbness in my face and head that will travel in a matter of days all around the right side of my face and head in different places. This time it spread to my tongue which caused taste loss for a few days. Around the same time I get major vertigo which will not go away unless I take a high dose of prednisone. My vertigo has been the worst of all symptoms, but seems to come at its worst around spring time.
Avatar f tn Migraine headaches are known to be associated with face and tongue numbness. This is considered as aura of the migraine. Migraine with aura is not as common as migraine without aura.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I had the numb tongue that lasted for about a month, I had some facial numbness on and off with this and pain and then I had some twitching as well but the roof of my mouth twitched... I still haven't established if mine is MS/TM related or migraine related... I do get migraines without the headache. Are you seeing a Dr? I would get your symptoms evaluated... could be many causes. Best wishes, Udkas.
Avatar m tn Hi! Recently I`v got a very strange symptoms - my face, left arm, base of my tongue got numbness, I got faint and it continuos for a couple of hours. Several days before all food I ate seemed bitter for me - I felt it at the base of the tongue. Due to these symptomes I felt I lose a level of conciousness and I was afraid I`ll fall down.. Could You please tell me what is going on and what specialist I have to go for a help? Thank You!
Avatar f tn The numbness and tingling could be due to your wisdom tooth. Impacted wisdom tooth can cause TMJ and numbness and tingling of tongue. It could also be related to neck-tongue syndrome. There is upper nuchal (neck) or occipital pain on one side, with or without numbness in these areas. This is accompanied by simultaneous ipsilateral (same side) numbness of the tongue. This numbness is caused by compression of the second cervical root (C2) in the atlantoaxial space. .
Avatar f tn m having, though there is some improvement in the numbness/tingling in my face and tongue - it comes and goes in my face, but my tongue seems back to normal). I have a difficult time grasping why the symptoms occur simultaneously (the numbness/tingling/pain in different parts of my left side - leg, arm/fingers, face) if they're not actually connected.
Avatar n tn I have had a numb tongue off and on for over a year. There are days that it feels entirely numb. The taste sensations are affected with this. None of my specialists can tell me what causes it; a couple have said that no one knows what causes it. I have heard it can be related to MS etc. I do believe it is possible for it to be related to food allergies. It is one of many mystery symptoms I have.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with severe anxiety symptoms for two years, and one of the most disturbing symptoms is the facial numbness, it occurs mostly in the right side of my face during long spells and anxiety and panic attacks. This week has been the worse, it even makes speech difficult and strange. At times i feel as if I am paralyzed in one side of my face and that this is a serious condition that may become permanent. Has anyone experienced the same symptoms ?
422104 tn?1209763904 I get a lot of numbness, half my throat was numb for a few days , i have numbness in my face, fingers, patches in other areas of my body and toes............also I cannot feel my bladder sometimes and it affects sexual pleasure because that area goes numb. Numbness is a particularly common symptom with multiple sclerosis. It can often be the first symptom with which a patient presents to a physician subsequently leading to a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
