Ezetimibe treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Ezetimibe treatment

Avatar m tn This increase was largely prevented by ezetimibe. These data are consistent with the recent finding that ezetimibe treatment significantly reduced biliary cholesterol saturation in patients with gallstones.
Avatar n tn , 3 years of ADT, 2006 bilateral orchiectomy, cholesterol levels, currently taking lipitor 40, blood sugar elevated, probably metabolic syndrom. What is best course of treatment? Avatar n tn if pegintf is not free in your healthcare you may parteciapte, your doctor is extremely ignorant about hbv so i hope he is not in charge for this trial make sure they have hbsag quantification otherwise there is no point in doing this treatment or get the test done from a lab hbvdna has nothing to do with hbsag quantity, hbsag quant is the only thing to look at to predict response before starting treatment and during treatment to stop it at 12 or 24 weeks if not working pegintf 2b is inferior
Avatar m tn also statins like simvastatin were reported to boost response a little but better not mix 2 statins, in a report researchers of ezetimibe effect on hbv and hcv suggested the use of ezetimibe with interferon but without simvastin ezetimibe dose is 10-20mg daily but human trials with dose 50mg daily for a limited time did not find any sides or toxicity
Avatar m tn A recent paper studied the effect of most FDA approved drugs on the inhibition of NTCP, the now known entry receptor for HBV. Ezetimibe was found to have a 50%inhibition conc of 25micromolar, while irbesartan, a commonly used angiotensin inhibitor to reduce blood pressure, was found to inhibit at 11.9 micromolar. Both compounds have similar MW, but irbesartan is given at up to 300mg per day, while exetimibe is dosed at 10mg.
Avatar m tn The FDA-approved drug ezetimibe (sold under the trade-name Zetia) is readily available and perfectly targeted to the receptor, Sainz said, so the researchers had an ideal method for testing NPC1L1's involvement in HCV infection. The researchers showed that ezetimibe inhibited HCV infection in cell culture and in mice transplanted with human liver cells. And, unlike any currently available drugs, ezetimibe was able to inhibit infection by all six types of HCV.
1006041 tn?1250396768 My doctors are dumbfounded and told me to take fish oil, though they laugh feeling that fish oil is night a good enough treatment along side a healthy diet. I just want to know is this allegy as uncommon as I hear it is and is there any other medications that might help me?
Avatar m tn no study for its activity on hbv, we do know it has activity but the trial has never started simvastatin lowers hcc 50% and prevents fibrosis/cirrhosis so it is indicated on all hbver, this has thousands of pateints studied for decades to find this data on hcc you better use simvastatin instead other statins, also ezetimibe has in vitro effect on hbv so these are the best choices on hbvers
Avatar m tn You could be one of these patients with a vl of eg 40 billion. Then a primary treatment with entecavir alone is wrong. Hopefully the late add on of tenofovir will bring they vl to und. A moderate reduction of hbsag quant under intense antiviral treatment is expected. But it will not go much further down and your chances of ifn add on to clear you are very small.
Avatar m tn There was an in vitro study on ezetimibe inhibiting HBV DNA production. The ed50 was fairly low and in a similar range as lamuvidine. So it looked very interesting. But in an in vitro study you have a constant exposure to the drug, which is impossible to achieve in vivo. And the cells used are not the same as regular hepatocytes in human liver, with many differences in gene expression and cellular physiology.
Tbd About two years ago my doctor added ezetimibe to my regimen. It has been lowering my bad cholesterol how ever the first of this month I missed taking them for about a week and for the first time in years I felt less fatigued. I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it.
Avatar f tn Although I have not seen this on the list of drug interactions for victrelis or incevek, I was just wondering if anyone knows or has been told by their doctor not to eat them while on treatment. I have had them several times while on treatment, and would like to continue since they are so healthy for you, but I do not want to impede treatment at all.
Avatar n tn I had very high cholesterol, due to familial hypercholesterolemia, and living on just salad for weeks did nothing for the levels. Statins have worked wonders in bringing the levels down but I also take Ezetimibe which slows absorption of fats through the gut lining. Now I can basically eat what I want and my cholesterol levels are always within the range required. Cholesterol in the blood is not the cause of disease, it's like a side effect from the initial problem.
529224 tn?1400648219 Statins reduced the cholesterol significantly and with the added medication of Ezetimibe, which slows fat absorption through the gut wall, my cholesterol is way below average now. I've been on these medications since the start of 2007 with no side effects which blood tests have continually confirmed. Familial hypercholesterolemia affects 1 in 500 people in many countries, so it isn't that uncommon.
Avatar n tn If this fails, which it did with me, then your statins need a turbo boost but from a different angle which will not affect the liver. We consume around 25% of fats through food and so a good drug such as Ezetimibe works wonders with statins because it helps block fat absorption through the gut lining. This method dramatically increased my HDL and lowered my LDL and trigs to rock bottom. Actually after starting this regime, my disease didn't increase for a year and has remained static.
315318 tn?1353251800 They had aimed at the production in my Liver, but they also decided to limit absorption from the gut. I was given Ezetimibe (Ezeterol) to add to the statin. So I was now on 40mg Atorvastatin and 10mg Ezetimibe. The results were amazing, I had even lower LDL, higher HDL and very low trigs. The great thing also is that I can eat anything I want and over two years my levels have stayed the same. Good luck in finding your problem and happy new year to you too.
