Avatar m tn Basically a doctor told me I had some sort of eczema on my eyelid and I was to use some hydrocortonise cream. Of course being silly I decided to use it and soon noticed my eyelid started to change... I stopped using the cream and went back to the doctor to which he then told me to just moisturise and it just by fine. My eyelid still wasn't okay though....
Avatar m tn This time around I stopped using soap and used a PH balanced alternative (Cetaphil) from about 2 weeks prior to starting treatment. Our skin goes really dry and subjects us to eczema etc. Hopefully your doctor and/or chemist can help.
Avatar n tn After 14 days I am supposed to switch to an emollient. I am about a week into the treatment and the eczema is clearing up nicely. I was very careful not to get the cream or ointment into my eyes. I did some Internet research on the cream and I read that using steroid creams on your eyelids and the skin around the eyes can cause ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Is it safe to use this cream around my eyes? If my eye pressure goes up, will it go back down once I stop using the cream?
Avatar m tn I had a follow up question to eyelid eczema. In between flare ups of baby's eczema, is it safe to put vaseline or aquaphor on the lid a few times a day or would you recommend something else? He rubs his eyes a lot, so anything I put on the lid tends to get in them. Thank you!!
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it is possible to have eczema without the affected area getting red? I have had patches of dry flaky skin on my eyelids (upper and lower) for about a month now and I've been trying moisturizers and allergy medication with little help. First, could this truely be eczema and second how should it be treated when it occurs around the eyes.
Avatar f tn So, is it possible that eczema or ringworm spread to my eyes? Which part such as eyeball, or eyelid... Etc. how about other part of body?

Avatar f tn I have eczema over my eylid also. It's been there for the last five years. It makes it hard to wear my contact lenses. Because it seem that when I scratch my eyelids or rub them it irritates my contact lenses causes them to move and distort my vision. I tried taking contact out for a week and eczema got better. Check your contact lenses. The material that it's made of.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, For the entire summer, I've been dealing with escalating skin issues. It started out as itchy, irritated skin on my eyelids. I've been to the dermatologist twice and used Locoid Lipocream once a day. Things got a little better but never went away. Then she gave me Mupirocin to use once a day. Same issue - got more manageable, but never went away. On my own, I've been taking flax oil daily and using pure vitamin E oil on my eyelids and undereye area.
Avatar m tn I have eczema in my eyebrow/upper cheek on the left side of my face. I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?
Avatar m tn Basically a doctor told me I had some sort of eczema on my eyelid and I was to use some hydrocortisone cream 1%. Of course being silly I decided to use it for two weeks and soon noticed my eyelid started to change... I stopped using the cream and went back to the doctor to which he then told me to just moisturise and it just by fine. My eyelid still wasn't okay though....
Avatar n tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid which are available by prescription.
Avatar n tn It's better...only if you want to die. It's been linked to cyanide poisoning, of all things. Coupled with the fact that (like the other ladies have said) it's totally quack medicine. There is absolutley no *unbiased* research that shows it's affect on cancer cells. Although chemo is cytotoxic, it's the approved and only 'good' treatment out there in our lifetime. Is there some natural methods that will eventually replace chemo? Yes.
1221025 tn?1266842580 Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. My sincere advice is to follow up the treatment that you have been prescribed by your dermatologists.
Avatar f tn Several months ago I started using make up again, had no problems, and then out of the blue, again, my left eyelid got swollen, then red, then itchy and then scaley. The skin on my eyelid is so stretched now that even when it's not swollen, it droops over my eyelashes. I went to see an ophtalmologist again recently, but he said he it was probalbly from sleeping on my side (which I did not really buy).
Avatar m tn s dark colored and very tiny on each eyelid. They are pretty interesting but worrying as well because I've never seen them before. Are they some weird glands? They look sort of natural. And how does one get rid of a pimple on the edge of the eyelid?
1227049 tn?1267237385 Hello, Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.
Avatar m tn Being that I have had eczema on my hands many times, I assumed at the beginning of Dec., that's what I had when it started itching but soon I had an itch on my eyelid, which progressed to both. They turned red, flaky, and very embarassing, with bags underneath. In order to go out of my house required tons of makeup. Due to being unemployed/uninsured since Oct., I tried several home remedies. It was almost gone and is now returning. My hands are red, itching, peeling, cracking(ouch!
Avatar n tn Lately I have had a problem that started off as a dry patch on my right eyelid that lasted for a week. Than one day I wake up and my whole right eye is swollen shut. I immediatly put ice on it and go up to the hospital. The provider told me it was a bug bite and prescribed me benedryl. Well just when I thought all was fine two day later I wake up to both eyes swollen shut. Again I immediately put ice on it and go to the hospital.
Avatar f tn Eczema is a skin disease that causes itchy, red, dry flaky skin. There is no cure or reasonable treatment. The treatment is typically steroids but there are side effects. You should cut down on the amount of baths you get. Don't use hot water. Use a oil based soap like oilatum or Dove all natural. Use natural laundry detergents based on enzymes. Don't use bleach or dryer pads. Use a good moisturizer just after shower. You need to moisturize at least twice a day.
Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Is there something that I can use that is more effective. It is very uncomfortable. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.
Avatar f tn My mother's (age 78) eyelid rims - area closet to eye are red (an ongoing condition). They don't seem to itch or be sore. Should we be concerned? What can be done to lessen the redness? She does sleep / nap a lot; could this be the reason? Thank you for your attention to this.
