perfumed soaps, cosmetics, hair spray, hair dyes, fingernail polish, certain foods, print ink (newspapers, magazines), animals and animal dander, oral medications (steroids is a common one), things that get on the hands and are rubbed onto the eyes (pesticides, herbicides, plant juice, poison ivy, etc). There are some eye conditions that might cause this including blepharitis (granulated eyelides), thyroid eye disease.
My SO had the swollen lip, swollen eye, swollen face, and peeling skin issue for about 3 months. We went from doctor to doctor and everyone doled out the Prednisone- which worked while he took them, BUT once he stopped, he'd swell up again. We tried everything, herbal remedies, food diary, restricting suspected foods and changing soaps/detergents. Then we went to an allergy doctor who did some testing and nothing was found.
read all the text on WindowsXP screen - everything! Close left eye: All text is a blur, can't read a damn thing! Result of this: my brain has never learned to use both eyes together and found it's better to ignore or "suppress" the images from the right eye. My best hope to fix this is "vision therapy". Basically force the brain to take notice of the right eye. They do this by blocking or blurring the good eye.
), I found that that evening my eye was itchy. The next morning my upper eye lid along my eye lashes was red and swollen. No eye make up or contacts here. I also do not have dry skin near my eye at all. And I have never had any problems with allergies. I want to rub the heck out of it and am trying to refrain. I'm not sure that this is the same as everyone else but just thought I'd add in case anyone has any ideas for me.
It disappeared and now my other son has the same thing but worse. It does not respond to benadryl. His eye is swollen shut. Any ideas?
D You go girl! I think you should roll in a bunch of poison sumac too! Why not! Make you look purty! If you turned into a "woof woof" and got to go to the Vets, what do you possibly think would you benefit from it? Hehe. Better care? LOL! I hope you have a great week, keep up your game plan and I'll pray that if you do get poison ivy, it wont break out too much. Just make sure you wash those clothes you wore, sneakers you wore, socks, flip flops or whatever.
My neighbor (who lives about half an acre away) got a rash from the smoke. His face was all swollen and his eye was swollen shut.(I felt awful) I beleive I got poison ivy.It turned into cellulitus on my right hand and my upper left forearm. I went to the doctors. The doctor gave me antibiotics with the instruction if the cellulitus continued to spread I would have to get IV antibiotics. It did. I Went for 3 days to get IV antibiotics.
Last week, he was oozing green goo from his eyes. Since his eyes weren't bloodshot or swollen, I let him recover from it on his own because antibiotics give him diarrhea and diaper rash, despite probiotics, and I don't even want to imagine holding him down for eye drops like three times a day. Over a period of four days, the goo subsided and by Saturday, it was gone. Only problem is, the eye goo seems to be replaced by a much wetter, aggravated cough and a fever.
But his little nose is almost completely swollen shut on one side and it is so raw and bloody he can't stand for it to be touched. He is also having a darker discharge from his nose. Also he is getting bumps on his face that are painful and his little mouth is covered in blisters. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Now my oldest son, who is 9, has started running a fever. Please help!!
mine just popped up a couple of weeks ago and it's driving me CRAZY!! Started with a little rash, itch on right foot (ok poison ivy? from dogs?)......then, the NEXT week, it had 'traveled' to my left foot and it did NOT ITCH?! Nope, same, same, no itch?! So, no biggie, but by the NEXT week it had kinda gone UP my RIGHT LEG.......?? What?%$~! Okay, still no biggie since it didn't itch, at ALL.........no itch. Then, next week all of a sudden on my right forearm same 'rashy kinda thing'......
I have one allergy and that is to the oil on the leaves of poison plants like poison ivy, poison oak, and poison summac. I love mango fruit and would knock them off my grandmas tree in Florida and eat them. Then I would break out in a rash on my lips and face. Still ate the fruit because I loved them. Come to find out it was not the fruit inside, but that the skin of the mango fruit has an oil that causes similar reaction as poison ivy.
I just want my life back as dramatic as that sounds. I tell everyone it's like having poison ivy everyday. Good luck all.
I have had this puffy, red, tender eye thing for about a week now. My right eye is swollen and red. Both eyes have this patchy dry spots on them. Everybody has mention dry eyelids but has anyone had dry patches? I have dry flaky patches under my eye and above my eyelid on the brow bone.
Hi everyone. My surgery was April 2, 2013. I had foul stank in nose, which ENT said was from all the gross impacted "putty" consistency mucus build up. Surgery entailed lots of suction, shaving of swollen passages & saline flushing it all out. Surgery was easy to recover from, but still had the smell & on my 1 week post op, doc put me back on an antibiotic to "clean up". However, that infection has never been totally eradicated, and it is now May 23.
I woke up yesterday with the entire right side of my face swollen from them, including an eye swollen shut. I've been taking 25mg of Benedryl, but I find if I try to skip even 1 day I have a horrible flare up. I'm waiting to see the Ob/Gyne, but can't get in until Dec. 10. I'm worried this is too much exposure to Benedryl.
Well with in 30 seconds my face, neck and hands were swollen, my eyes and nose were nearly swollen shut and wouldn't stop running it was like full blown head cold in less than one minute. It took 2 weeks to get it under control. The next Christmas I tasted just a crumb and started to swell immediately, but I had the benelyn in my hand when I tried it and it took time but was under control alot faster.
I got the Miconazole 3 pack from Rite Aid and used it last night. I will NEVER insert this poison in me again!!!!!! 2 minutes after inserting the cream I started getting an EXTREME internal itch. I thought it was normal but after 5 minutes the intense itch had gotten to torturous levels. I knew something was wrong so I jumped in the shower and immediately tried to get the stuff out of me. My husband wanted to take me to the E.R.
I have no food allergies, and haven't changed detergents or soaps since I went from feeling good to feeling like I have severe poison ivy, only at night, in the old familiar places..... I'm glad to have found this forum, good luck to all of you!
not very often, but I have noticed a few little flutters here and there, and also having a strange feeling in my left eye (like it is swollen and something is in it) and find that my vision is a little blurry after reading a lot or doing a lot on the computer. Pulse and BP are OK (so far--checking at home.) Sorry post was so long...new at this and have lots of questions, but feel so much better knowing that other people are experiencing the same things. It's scary.
•Foods (commonly eggs, shellfish, nuts, berries, dyes, or other additives) •Drugs (any drug can touch off an allergic reaction, although allergies to penicillin, sulfa, and aspirin are especially common) •Pollens and plants (nettles, poison ivy, poison oak, and so on) •Animal fur •Insect bites or stings •Exposure to heat, cold, or sunshine. For people with chronic hives, the simpler treatments may not keep outbreaks under control.
i feel for all of you deeply (several times my ears have swollen shut and lymph nodes been blocked up into hard rocks for weeks non stop - i understand:)). tea tree oil (not staight oil in the ear though dilute first!!!), paud'arco, garlic, olive leaf extract (seagate is a good company), olive oil, gse, PROBIOTICS, digestive enzymes, wild oregano oil, NO REFINED SUGAR, chlorophyll, and no antibiotics are a start. however, i understand the bind.
I'm not even allergic to poison ivy, for crying out loud. Being told that I don't understand the nature of my problem, given a kindergarten level explanation of why the nose sneezes, kindly patted on the head, and told to avoid high pollen count hours, made me want to scream with frustration. Doesn't the good doctor realize that allergy testing is the first thing we all tried? It's just one more example of the medical tunnel vision that has prevented a solution being found to our problem.
I can hardly stop scratching in one place before I have to scratch in another and it's not always that I'm itching most times it's as if fruitflies are antagonizing me from the inside out and around eye area. Even though I don't have pets, I've gone through a wad on flea treatments, Off, Skin So Soft, and citronella candles, nothing seems to help.
The same thing has happened to me.. I'm from the UK (guessing majority of you are from the US?) I had an ulcer type lump come up a few months ago, it looked like a cut and went away after about a week. Yesterday I felt that it was quite sore after going to the toilet and looked to find 2 ulcers - nightmare!!!! They are swollen and both on the right side of the vagina. I'm 10 years old, and haven't had sex since March!
then for topical the best relief I have found besides ice...is Ivarest poison ivy Max strength cream...it has antihistamines and analgesics which brought instant relief....please guys try to watch what you eat and try the diflucan if you can get it...I have been at my wits end...cant sleep...cant work,,all I want is a little relief and finally am getting it...I wish you all relief...please try this ...it worked for me so far....
the stinging nettle plant can give you a rash (almost like poison ivy) so it's up to you if you want to try it. i say try it on a weekend just incase you do break out and u can just stay home. also even if u're not officially allergic to anything, keep your house clean. probiotics overall help your body balance out bacteria and boost your health.
I , too, have the same thing, One day I woke up and was swollen from head to toe- once the rest of my body's swelling went down, my stomach & pelvis area were still swollen- looking as if I was 7 -8 months pregnant, I have had ultrasounds done, bloodwork drawn, colonoscopy, Barium Enema- and still, I am no wiser than before. I am now schedued to see an Oncologist. The frustration of gaing over 35 pounds in less than 2 moinths is depressing and frustrating.
I think instead of going into a long winded story of what I think is going on with me, I'm just going to start telling people I have heavy metal poisoning. When people hear the word poison, they tend to take you more seriously. Cut and pasted from a heavy metal toxicity website: As an example of the scope of a heavy metal's toxicity, lead can affect the nervous system, gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, blood production, kidneys, and reproductive system.
