After 2 days with it getting worse, he went to an eye doctor who told him he had an allergy in the eye. He gave him a steroid eye "goop" to use once a day. His eye is getting worse everyday. Was he mis-diagnosed? When do we go to the ER or another Dr? Its very swollen around the eye, watery, ***** and extremely painful. I hate to see him like this and worry there may be some damage done if we are not treating it right. Ive been surfing the web and cant find any symptoms like his.
My six year old son was with me in the backyard and in a matter of minutes his eye swelled shut. Assuming it was a grass allergy, he got some benadryl and went to sleep. It has been 2 hrs and the swelling is reduced but not gone. Any other ideas on what I can do to help him out. I have washed and rinsed the eye numerous times and cannot see anything internal irritant inside the eye.
9 F and his right eye was swollen shut and had blue and red bruises on the eye lid and under the eye he had also red patches on his legs and hands with small white dots which were itching. I went to the ER and by then the red patches went away almost completely but the eye looked worse, they assumed it was an allergy and gave him Benadryl. That didn’t work, the next morning when he woke up and his eye was shut completely I went to a Dr.
So I woke up this morning to find my left eye really poofy and practically swollen shut and I thought it must have been from me keeping my contacts in while I slept. The wierd thing is that there is no puss or any other type of white or yellow (or any other type of) residue coming from the eye. and the eye is white, no redness whatsoever which would lead me to think the eye isn't irritated at all.
i went to pharmacist and he gave me neo deca. the next day my eye swelled even more. and now it is almost swollen shut and it feels heavy. i am still using the medicine as i have no other option. please help, as eye doctor here is really expensive and i can barely afford.
I wake up in the morning with the eye nearly swollen shut and a sensation that there is something 'wiggling' around under my eye in the skin. The next day his forehead was so swollen it looked like he had a deformity. We used iced cloths and benadryl. The next morning his left eye was completely swollen shut. But the swelling of the forehead had gone down. We were so concerned as to what had caused it . Allergies or a insect bite.
My son also gets swollen eyes. It only happens when he is sick. The doctors think he is allergic to omnicef so stopped giving it to him. Today it happened after he took motrin. I took him to urgent care and they gave him a antibotic in the omnicef family even though o told them several times he was allergic to it. Thank god I called his regular ped doc before I gave it to him. Doesn't explain why his eyes were swollen to begin with though.
While out for a run over the weekend, I noticed my left eye getting swollen. I thought that perhaps I got something in it and continued on my run. Soon I had to cut my run short and noticed my tounge was swelling as well. My wife happened to be driving home and saw my face. She thought I had fallen and wanted to take me to the urgent care center in town. I felt that perhaps I was just a bit dehydrated until I saw my face in the mirror. It turns out I was having an alergic reaction to something.
I should have added, I had my affected eye shut all day, for a period of 24 hours. Is that enough to cause blurred vision? Due to light sensitivity, I am wearing an eyepatch.

My daughter was on Armour and doing great..then 1st trip to ER wih one swollen eye, put on Allegra, then 10 days later she almost died...both eyes swollen shut, throat closing, hives, etc. Since that happened a couple of weeks ago she is now allergic to dust, mold, her makeup and lotion...EVERYTHING. She quit Armour obviously, but it looks like the Armour did something to her immune system and now for the 1st time in her life she is allergic to EVERYTHING.

and they can likely prescribe a good allergy medication and eye drops to use daily to prevent or relieve symptoms. I personally avoid using commercial drops like Visine, etc that promise to get the redness out, because they work by restricting the blood vessels and if used too often can cause a rebound effect, where the eyes will look and feel 10 times worse. Plus, I find they sting like crazy, making me sneeze which makes my eye water even more...
I had a severe reaction to temporary caps and now permanent caps and experienced all the things you describe, ending in a trip to the ED with anaphylactic syndrome, swelling throat, wet breathing, and near drowning in my own fluids. It's been 6 months and I still have sores in my mouth and particularly painful, over the front new caps. I was tested by an allergist but had prednisone (steroid) treatment to prevent uh...death...
Hello, your symptoms of dry tight throat, uneasiness and difficulty in breathing and headaches are pointing towards the diagnosis of allergy to onion/ garlic, in any form. Garlic-sensitive patients showed positive tests to diallyldisulfide, allylpropyldisulfide, allylmercaptan and allicin, all present in garlic. Even if garlic is present in a very small amount,it can lead to an allergic reaction.

There are some general medical problems that might cause this especially if you wake up with swollen ankles and hands. You are going to need to see an Eye MD (ophthalmologist) for a comprehensive medical eye examination. After that you may be directed to your personal physician for a medical evaluation. If none of this helps you may need to see an allergist.
When I woke in the morning both eyes where massively swollen, my right eye was much worse and was barely open. I assumed the Papaw being quite a heavy vaseline type ointment had maybe not allowed the skin to breathe so I have now avoided it. I applied cooled spoons which after several hours of holding to my eyes seemed to being down the swelling but left my eyes still very red and sort of wrinkly looking.
i woke up with my left eyelid almost swollen shut!! its puffy but has no pain and its not itchy or anything.. my eye sight is fine but when i blink it stings a little but, but not that bad. why is my eye like this????
I've got an upcoming appointment with the allergist, but I really believe something else is going on (I also frequently develop hives around the puffy eyes). Most mornings I wake up with my eyes almost swollen shut. I now have a patch of eczema under one eye. I tried special products, control creams, cortisone (in small amounts-I have to be careful since it is around my eye), vaseline...the list goes on. If anyone has any ideas, I'd welcome them!
For a few days i had a small bubble on my eye that came and went untill one day in a matter of minites my eye was almost swollen shut and i had a blotchy rash all on my legs, neck and hands. Well with in 30 seconds my face, neck and hands were swollen, my eyes and nose were nearly swollen shut and wouldn't stop running it was like full blown head cold in less than one minute. It took 2 weeks to get it under control. The next Christmas I tasted just a crumb and started to swell immediately, but I had the benelyn in my hand when I tried it and it took time but was under control alot faster.
and upper lip was slightly swollen with rashes that was excreting sticky clear-ish fluid. Doctor told me that the eye was an allergic reaction to something and lip was a cold sore. Gave me antihistamine eyedrops. Next day - eye got worse (swollen but dry) and entire upper lip was swollen (still weeping). Also noticed an itchy rash in my hand with fluid in it. Doctor #2 told me it was all an allergic reaction and prescribed antihistimine.
