11591819 tn?1419664949 He must be in pain and I would worry about infection or worse. Many animals live a full life with only one eye. Hope all turns out Ok and you can get your Vet, someone on call or the ER clinic. Please come back and update. I would like to know what caused this so many years later. Good luck!

1627010 tn?1299446388 I changed all of her drops and cyclosporine drops are one of the ones I put her on. I put 1 drop in each eye 3 times daily. Her eye has improved some. I know it will always be with her, I just want her to be comfortable, not in pain or discomfort.
Avatar m tn I related the headaches and pain to eye strain and tension headaches. I had an eye exam, my vision was still great but the doctor did prescribe me some computer glasses. So far, this hasnt seemed to help much. My neck does get tight and my wife who is a massage therapist, performs deep tissue massages on me and it does help relive the headaches, but not the overall pressure I experience. I do suffer with seasonal allergies from pollen etc...
Avatar f tn Hi Kate..Eye infections are common in dogs......Left untreated, they can cause serious damage to the eyes.....Ask your parents to make a Vet appointment for your dog.....Antibiotic eye drops are used to clear up the infection.....It's very easy treatment and not too expensive... In the mean time, take a warm, soft, wet wash cloth & gently wash the debris from your dogs eyes.....Good luck & let us know.....Eye infections clear up quickly once treatment has began...
Avatar f tn About a month or so later I took him to the vet he had an ear infection the dr put him on predisone saying his mange can come back. Well it did. At the visit with the ear infection he was diagnosed with being a dog with allergies. We been treating the mange with ivermetiven. He was sick from it but gave it anyway. This has been on going for a year. Banfield said there is nothing more we can do for him. I changed his food to grain free he seemed to clear a bit with skin rashes (he had them bad).
Avatar m tn my husky has had problems since xmas where his face seems to be in pain and his eye closes. he was drolling all over himself from the amount of pain he was in...took him down to the vets and though there might be something in his eye..nothing..gave him pain meds and was good up to last thursday where it happened again. the doctor said its not the eye since theres nothing in it...however he was in pain again and was even worse this time then last. the blood work came back clean.
12270954 tn?1424407445 Do you know the pedigrees of the dogs and have studied the ancestry? The list goes on. If you just want to breed your dogs for the sake of breeding, whether you are doing it in a barn or your nice home, makes you no better then the person you got this pup, from. Sorry, but those are the facts. Aside from that, you need to go on the recommendations of the Vet. Do read up on the disease and treatment. If need be, seek a second opinion.
Avatar m tn I am not seeing any noticeable different discharge from her eye. She seems to get relief from me rubbing it. Thinking it may be a tooth infection, however she shows no sign of any discomfort when eating. She also has a large lump on her left side above her leg which I have just assumed was a cyst. This has been there for a few months and appears to be getting smaller. Her energy levels are good and she seems fine other than this large lump that formed overnight.
Avatar n tn I have basset who devoloped a huge swollen one side on her head and her eye swollen also and hard to open her mouth and painful. She is an outside dog in a kennel, brought her in gave her amoxicilln/augmentin for 5 days and swelling went down, area looked to be a cut on her head oozed and she is now fine.Problem my newfoundland has devolped the same symptoms today and he is also an outside dog in his own kennel alone.
Avatar n tn s dog several years ago, and the eye had to be removed because the infection could have blinded the other eye by traveling along the optic nerve. The dog did just fine after surgery.
Avatar f tn t buy them from them though as they are often so pricey, needlessly so! You can then look for allergy medications otc for dogs (there are several) on Amazon. I would not give your dog benadryl unless your doctor advises it. I have a lot of issues with it as a grown human. :>) Now eye discharge is something to look into. Again, a vet visit may be best. https://pets.webmd.
1609789 tn?1298147175 You definitely do not want these to develop into anything worse, such as infection. So do keep an eye on any of these, and if you see anything at all you don't like the look of, or any signs of her shaking her ears, itching, redness...etc, then go to the vet about it. There would be no harm asking the vet's advice anyway, just to be sure.
Avatar m tn An infection in the oral cavity can spread through the body and cause all kinds of problems. There are 3 things that I have used that you might want to try before you go to the vet (not in place of the vet). The 1st is liquid chlorophyll. You can rub in on the dogs teeth and gums four or 5 times a day. You don't rinse it out and it won't stain the teeth. Chlorophyll is a natural antibiotic and disinfectant. It also promotes healing of infected tissue.
Avatar f tn my friend's shitzu has had 5 litters and knows it is wrong the will sell the male.....now the female has a eye problem. My friend does not have alot of money, what can the do with the female dog? The dog's eye is NOT infected, but the can't afford surgery. What will happen to the eye? Should they keep putting eye drops in? Is there a way to save the eye?
6542587 tn?1382274108 She needs to have fluroscein stain on her eye to make sure there is no ulcer. The vet may even perform a schrimer tear test to make sure she doesn't have dry eye.
Avatar f tn I went through the reoccuring ear infections with my lab also, although he is so good at letting me do anything to him. After many trips to the vet and several different madications prescribes, he still continued to get them. It sounds like you're going through the same thing so maybe I can save you several trips to the vet and some money. I gave up on everything the vet gave me and just used plain old apple cidar vinegar. You can also use peroxide. I also made some changes in his diet.
Avatar n tn It sounds like a condition called "Cherry Eye". Dogs have a third eyelid that can become irritated and cause swelling like this. It also could be an insect bite or an infection. You will need to take him to the Vet for a final diagnosis. Please let us know how you make out.
Avatar n tn s a gland up, there is a reason WHY that gland has come up. Often, infection or injury on the limb, or area nearest to the gland is the cause, but there are internal problems which could cause a gland to swell, which you couldn't see. If ALL his glands are up then that points to quite a serious infection or something similar which is affecting his whole system. Just one gland, and it is likely to be something wrong in some part of his body nearest to that gland.
Avatar n tn (7) days prior to us noticing this problem, he was put on Trimethaprim 480mg 1.5 times per day for an anal gland infection. In conjuction with the bulging eye issue, he was having difficulty walking and was very weak. Upon returning to the Vet, he tested positive for anaplasma, which he previously showed no signs of. The vet did a battery of blood and urine tests and all have come back normal - thyroid, kidney function, white and red blood cell count, diabetes etc.
