Common Questions and Answers about Eye infection allergy

infection

Avatar m tn You may have infected your eye from the throat infection and it might be cleared by the Azithromycin if it is the same organism that is causing the problem. But usually they give you eye drops for an eye infection that have antibiotics in them, so I'm not sure if the oral med will care of the problem. You could also have an allergy, virus in the eye or have accidently got something else in your eye. Try eye drops and if it doesn't clear up in a day or two then see an eye doctor.
Avatar n tn Second often the problem is not an eye infection but a different problem such as an allergy or immune releated eye problem or dry eye. My suggestion would be to see an eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in cornea and external disease.
Avatar f tn I stated getting the puffiness on and off all day long, a discharge, tearing and redness plus the feeling that a area of the lid being stuck to the eye ball itself. I just had a visit with my G/P who said I have a eye infection she gave me a script for Tobramycin to use for 5 days, the pharmacist said I could use it longer if necessary. This is day 6 and my eye is the same as 3 months ago. I did mention Bleparitis to my G/P but she said no it is infection.
Avatar f tn This happend last week. Again spit landed into my eye (this time my left eye) from another friend where the pain started right that after 15 mins which also a mild pain. Again I went to Opthamalogist, again he dismissed any infection and allergy. I'm very much confused and hurt due to this both incident. If it is not infection and allergy, why it isn't paining me.
Avatar m tn I related the headaches and pain to eye strain and tension headaches. I had an eye exam, my vision was still great but the doctor did prescribe me some computer glasses. So far, this hasnt seemed to help much. My neck does get tight and my wife who is a massage therapist, performs deep tissue massages on me and it does help relive the headaches, but not the overall pressure I experience. I do suffer with seasonal allergies from pollen etc...
Avatar f tn No I haven't seen an eye md yet. I can't afford it.
Avatar m tn I'm referring to eye bright being used directly on the eye. There are commercial eye drops that contain it such "Similasan Allergy Eye Relief " or "eyebright drops wisdom of the ages" I've tried some antihistamine eyedrops such as Zaditor but they irritate my eyes.
613536 tn?1294238447 I think my daughter who is 7 weeks old might have an eye infection. She has a yellow discharge coming from her eye... is this an infection? Will she need a trip to the doctor or is there something I can do to relieve it at home?
612551 tn?1450022175 Last year I had an eye infection. It started out as an itchy eye in my right eye. It was also very uncomfortable. I decided to go to the doctor about it. I actually went to an after hours clinic instead of going to my regular doctor because I didn't need an appointment to see a doctor at the walk in clinic. The doctor examined my eye and gave me a prescription eye ointment.
Avatar f tn Nine days ago I woke up with an extremely mild case of pink eye in my left eye. My sister had been suffering from it, so it was pretty easy to guess where I'd caught it, and I went promptly into the doctor to get it checked out. She confirmed it was pink eye (but didn't say whether it was viral or bacterial) and prescribed me antibiotic eyedrops. Knowing that it usually spread to both eyes I started drops in both eyes.
Avatar m tn Also, I get real bad pressure on the bridge of my nose between my eye brows like it may bust or something...the pressure goes with my pulse. Do you know what could be causing this congestion or pressure? I don't want a nose vessel busted open...thanks for any info! I will reply god bless!
Avatar m tn There are things other than cats to be allergic to. You can try warm compresses and an allergy eye drop like Alway or Zaditor. If it is an infection not usually a lot of itch but pus like discharge.

Avatar f tn I stopped shots cold turkey and was sick with a sinus infection for 4 months. Steroids nor antiobiotics would rid of this. I finally got rid of the infection but other factors remained such as facial swelling beneath the lower lid and orbital of the eye, and swelling of the upper cheek, Constant congestion and muccous, post nasal drip, and spacey off balanced overall feeling. I constantly have a swollen bag under my left eye and when pressed down feels full of mucous.
Avatar m tn After developing a mild eye infection as diagnosed by my optician (small clear "bubbles" that came and went on my eyelid where eye liner is applied, painful, scratchy eyes), he prescribed generic Tobradex drops which I used QID x 7D.
1152576 tn?1306134757 Puffiness of one eye is usually due to a localized cause like infection, abrasion of cornea, foreign body in eye, maxillary sinusitis of same side, lacrimal gland infection, infection of hair follicle of the eye lid etc. Both eyes can become puffy in sinusitis, upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis or due to fluid accumulation due to heart/liver/kidney problem. Avatar f tn Most allergies are bilateral and have other symptoms such as sneezing and the eyes itch (unless its a contact allergy where something like poison ivy has come into contact with one eye). I would suggest you see your pediatrician or family doctor. If it were an infection (conjunctivitis) there is usually pus sticking eye shut in morning.
Avatar m tn If you are not feverish and in pain you could try cold compresses and oral antihistamines and maybe some allergy eye drops like Zaditor or Visine allergy eye formula.
