Avatar m tn Eating whole foods and obtaining your vitamins/minerals are going to be the best option. Even though pill forms of vitamins and minerals seem to be the healthy option, our bodies still have to work to break them down. In most cases, the pill forms are synthetic forms of the vitamins which in the long run are not the best option for your body. What type f diet do you eat?
Avatar f tn thorsons complete guide to vitamins and minerals recommends large doses of thiamine for optic neuritis and it does work.
Avatar m tn Hi, From your general description it appears that you are a late bloomer, and it is quite common if you are obese. Take healthy food containing vitamins and minerals, and do daily moderate exercise, you should get your normal growth process in the coming years. Nevertheless, it is also an appropriate age to consult a pediatric endocrinologist and get a confirmation that all your growth process is in place.
Avatar n tn But you should not miss the vitamins and minerals that are essential for your skin. The best vitamins for your skin include Vitamin C, D, E, K, beta-carotene, and selenium.
Avatar m tn Hi... I'm 42. I'm thinking about what Vitamins and Minerals should I take with my age. I have just started taking Forceval capsule per day. Is it ok to take that for a longer period? or is there any other capsule that I can take instead of this? and will this provide the required nutrition for my age?
Avatar m tn The daily value for vitamins and minerals are based on a 2000 calorie diet. However, my metabolism (observed based on calories in vs weight change as well as energy levels in response to calorie intakes to distinguish between starvation metabolism and actual calorie needs) is much higher than the standard 2000 calories — even starvation level for my metabolism is much higher than 2000 calories. The following are the nutrients that I suspect would have a higher RDI for a higher metabolism.
798555 tn?1292787551 Most of us know to separate vitamins and minerals 4 hours from our thyroid med. BUT for those who take a dessicated med 2 or 3 times per day, this becomes a challenge. Example:I take 75% of Erfa dessicated t3/t4 combo at 6:30 AM, 25% at 11 AM and the remaining 25% at 4 PM - complicated but their it minimal T3 'rollercoaster' that way. Magnesium is best at night - thats easy. But B vitamins are kind of senseless to take in the evening - you might not sleep.
1126695 tn?1261597496 Hello there, Pregnant women need a good diet and since it's hard to keep a good diet with today's processed food i recommend vitamins and minerals supplements. Raw food is better than cooked food, so don't cook your vegetables and eat a lot of fresh fruits. For the vitamins supplement i recommend a multi-vitamins/minerals like Centrum + a good vitamin C ( 1,000mg with calcium ) + a vitamin B complex. Consider Green+ or SuperFoodRX as a daily intake too which is rich in nutriments.
Avatar n tn Are there certain foods, vitamins, or minerals that i should eat more of or should not eat a lot of to help my body recover in all aspects? I've heard from several, non reliable sources, that some vitamins and foods will help my body recover faster from injury or soreness. Is that true? If so i would like to know as much advice as you can give me. Thank you.
328799 tn?1276565732 First, avoid the multis sold in drug stores. They use cheap forms of minerals that can cause this problem. The most likely culprit is iron. Taking them with meals usually negates this, but sometimes a certain brand just doesn't set well. The solution is try another from a good health food store and see what happens.
486919 tn?1280184140 That is why there are recommended doses so our bodies do not build up the vitamins and minerals to toxic levels and have medical issues. Vitamins and minerals do cause issues when they are taken above the upper limits or mega dose levels. That will cause the body to have toxic build up and medical issues will occur. The issues can be serious depending on the length of time and amounts the supplements were taken.
1298588 tn?1330318981 I always thought it was good for me, but after reading about the many ways that different vitamins and minerals can mess with heart rhythms, I have become worried about this particular habit of mine. I am equally afraid to stop taking vitamins, because if my body has become used to them, then surely a sudden lack would also throw off my heart rhythms. To what extent do multivitamins affect heart rhythms? Is there any particular vitamin or mineral that affects the heart?
2167803 tn?1338529751 You might try getting your vitamins at a health food store. They have the best. I don't recommend GNC or places like that as they are too commercial. A chiropractor would also have the best formulas.
Avatar f tn Best to be safe with a reasonable plan that allows ALL of the basic food groups to help insure that you get adequate vitamins, minerals, etc.
Avatar m tn Looks to me like Vitreoxigen its basically a mix of mInerals, vitamins, amino acids and vegetable extracts. Is it even considered a drug? (looks like a pretty standard supplement to me).
Avatar f tn As I understand it, vitamins A, C, and E are all problematic, as is magnesium, if you are D type. If you are C type you will probably find calcium a problem. I have found supplementation particularly beneficial in my case; however, I do use a brand with particularly highly absorbent minerals (96% absorption) which means that virtually nothing gets to the colon. (I stopped nodding off behind the wheel in about 10 days. This, after a couple of years of fighting this off every afternoon.
Avatar f tn At the very least, get some folic acid into your system. It's a B vitamin and helps the baby not have spina bifida. Look up sources of folic acid, you might have already been eating a lot of foods that contain it. It is also available as a vitamin pill (it's very small) and people take it for heart health, so it would not clue anyone that you are pregnant if you are trying to hide it.
Avatar n tn Eating foods with high amount of vitamins and minerals which are fruits, vegetables and whole grain products is the best way and you get additional fiber. If you want that supplement, suggest a general multi-vitamin with iron. Hoped this helped you.
535882 tn?1396576685 Kev - Thats a little chalanging.! I take dessicated 3x per day. 90mg at 6AM and 30mg 11AM just before lunch. Then just 15mg at 4 PM. I used to snack all day, so some times the 4PM I do sublingually if I'm hungry. On a similar schedule, you could take supplements that are not minerals with lunch. Minerals need to be 3-4 hrs apart from 'swallowed' thyroid meds. So zinc, selenium are best at dinner (6 pm) or possibly mid morning.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if eye vitamins such as iCaps, or any other eye multivitamin, would benefit my eye health at all. While I'm not expecting it to improve my eyesight (is this even possible? And how?), would it have any benefits or effects? Are ocular supplements worth taking in general? I'm also on oral contraceptives and take a women's multivitamin & fish oil daily, if this has any effect on the above. Thank you in advance!
219241 tn?1413537765 t take care of our basis requirements of vitamins and minerals to keep our bodies in perfect health we waiting until they fall over then have to suppliments to fix them. Avatar f tn They are found in all the foods which consist of the above vitamins / minerals, such as green tea and white tea. The supplements you are describing have the antioxidant vitamins in them plus other vitamins / minerals. The best is to eat foods that have antioxidants which are fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. If you want supplements and the ones you stated are too expensive, suggest you find ones that have comparable amount of the same vitamins / minerals.
Avatar m tn being over tired can cause a weird spasm, and the pain u mentioned...as well as being low on certain vitamins and minerals...even allergies can affect our eyes like this..... ...do go to ur PCP and ur eye dr to make sure it is not something that will affect ur sight. Avatar f tn Hello, I am looking for advice on diet (helpful foods or foods to avoid) that will aid in longterm better health after having RAI. Also would appreciate information on what vitamins/minerals would be helpful - or to avoid - considering that there is no functioning thyroid. I sometimes get confused when reading advice about what vitamins to take because most of the advice is aimed at people who still have some level of functioning thyroid. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hello~I found out that what helped with my Canker sores was "Brewers Yeast" You can get it at any health food store. It is a powder or flakes. It tastes delicious on Cottage Cheese and is especially yummy on popcorn. It is loaded with all the "B" vitamins, some minerals and amino acids. You see, lots of canker sores are due to a Vitamin "B" deficiency and certain minerals, brewers yeast has these nutrients in it.
