761614 tn?1234300320 Congratulations on your weight loss. That's a major accompllishment and I'm proud of you. Anti-depressants, such as Zoloft do not normally present significant withdrawal symptoms, but, as with any psychotropic medication it's best to seek to advice of your physician before discontinuing it. If you choose to do so without the advice of a doctor, it is best to slowly reuce your dosage each week until such time you are completely free from the drug.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am on Effexor 150mg daily. I have put on lots of weight - but that is because it makes me feel hungry for carbohydrates. If you control your diet you should be OK. Some people lose weight on anti-depressants, and some people gain. There is a lot of information about Effexor on this site. Don't let the posts about withdrawal put you off. I hope it works for you, and your depression soon goes. I find Effexor has stopped all my depression and anxiety with no side effects.
Avatar n tn Zoloft helped me with my panic disorder and I had NO withdrawal effects when I stopped taking it. Also, in my case I actually LOST weight while on Zoloft. While it is useful to share accounts of your story, it is important for readers to know that while you had a bad experience with this medication that does NOT mean that will happen to them - everyone responds very differently medications, especially SSRIs. I am vetoing your statement "DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DON'T TAKE IT!
Avatar n tn I went from 127 to 123 after taking Zoloft. Some people gain weight, some lose weight, and others dont experience a change in weight at all. Are you getting plenty to drink? Losing 7 Ibs over about a week is more likely water loss than fat/muscle loss.
Avatar m tn My question is doe anyone have any experience with going on/off Zoloft and were the side effects (or hopefully lack thereof) the same?
Avatar f tn Zoloft is frequently requested by women BECAUSE of it's weight loss side effect. I've been on Zoloft nearly a year and have lost almost 15 pounds, but I still eat like a mad cow! While I think it's important to have your thyroid checked, I don't think it's necessary to see a specialist just yet. Your GP can order simple blood tests that will indicate to him/her if a specialist is needed.

Avatar f tn My experience with zoloft was, that taking 50mg a day, I at first lost a few pounds, and was ecstatic. I've struggled with severe anxiety, and the zoloft really helped me. However, after about two months of being on it, I began to gain weight steadily, until I had packed 15 extra pounds on to my small frame. I never had ANY trouble with weight gain in my life; if I started seeing the scale creep up, I could exercise and be careful for a day or two and it would go right back to normal.
Avatar m tn Yea seen a pcyc thurs took me off the zoloft because of being wired and having some weight loss issues. He put me on buspar which I really know nothing about just started my first dose this morning he said it shouldn't be to bad to start up on but I felt pretty crappy after awhile this afternoon a lil dizzy and head aches. Gonna give it a shot if it doesn't help not sure what to do next kinda of tired of feelin ok one day than like crap for six.
Avatar m tn There is no "normal" with these meds. Can't tell you if there's something other than withdrawal going on, but dizziness is one of the most common withdrawal symptoms. Some people get what are called protracted withdrawals, which means it lasts a long time. But again, can't know if this is what it is given you are the only you and our brains process things differently.
990051 tn?1249190363 whilst I had only been 48 hours without Zoloft (generally my maximum)...I did have the early withdrawal symptoms I experience, except for that "jittery" feeling...when I've missed Zoloft for 2 doses, it usually takes about a week to fully settle...so I'm hoping that the Efexor isn't increasing that and it is JUST the 2 doses of Zoloft that I hadn't taken.
Avatar m tn I am well aware it cant be done cold turkey cuz of the seizures and all that. I would appreciate feedback form anyone who has experience with getting off klonopin. Thanks!!
1131237 tn?1260211024 Now my new doc wants to add a norepinefrin to my or something else since my siutation healthwise is so despairing at times....plus with Zoloft, weight loss is almost impossible, which would help my health issues. My doc says at times when someone has been on Zoloft for so long the brain quits making the serotonin needed. I am on a morphine pump and that also does not help in the depession department . I have two children still at home, and one is a paraplegic.....
Avatar f tn Or just the Zoloft? I took Zoloft over ten years ago for a year and a half and did not experience this weight gain. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Yes, weight loss can be a side effect of Zoloft. Stop eating all the junk food, you're setting yourself up for future health problems. Also, you may have lost some muscle mass due to no longer lifting weights. If you continue to lose weight, contact your doctor about it. Take care.
415867 tn?1323365503 In fact, Meridia, a weight-loss drug, is an SNRI. Another SNRI, Effexor, has no weight-loss properties, but it is an antidepressant. This shows that tiny changes in chemical structure can have big effects on the brain. I take Wellbutrin which is a SNRI, I have no loss of sex drive what so ever, and while I have put on weight I don't think it is related to the drug. I think it is related to my eating habits in that I eat crap all the time and need to knock that out of my diet.
