Common Questions and Answers about Exercise routine for weight loss

exercise

Avatar m tn Starving yourself isn't a great way to lose weight. Eating better is a much better idea. You're very young, and I'm guessing you don't have a great education in proper nutrition. If you don't get enough, the exercise will end up hurting you. That's also not much exercise for a young person in good health.
Avatar f tn Why is weight loss so slow sometimes? I work out 5-6 days wk for at least hr-aerobic & deadlifing/kettle bells. Also keeping at 1,500 cals per day.
Avatar f tn Safely losing 25 pounds by December is impossible. I'm not sure how you've lost the 35, so far, but if you're stuck, try changing your routine. Increase/decrease your exercise and calorie intake. If you continually do the exact same thing, your body gets used to it and simply expects that. Changing your routine every few days will keep things more "upset", so your body won't have a chance to get used to it.
Avatar f tn Riding a bike is another non-impact exercise that is beneficial to weight loss. Riding a bike utilizes your quadriceps, hamstrings, calves and glutes to propel you forward without any pounding on your joints. To get a quality weight loss workout, ride your bike off road or on the road, or use a stationary bike at the gym. Stay away from steep hills to protect your knees; riding on flatter surfaces doesn't require as much intensity.
Avatar f tn No, I don't say don't try anything, but I also don't presume to be able to tell someone what's best for them because I've seen so many "proven" routines fail over time. I've come to believe that we all just do the best we can and hopefully what we choose won't come around to haunt us a few years down the road. I'm always, therefore, suspicious of the latest fads, but suspicious isn't the same as saying don't try them.
Avatar f tn It is normal for weight loss to slow down after a while, and some do feel discouraged because of this. But if you continue with the diet you described and exercise regimen, you will continue to lose weight. If you want to kick up the speed of it, try a different cardio routine, like an elliptical or stairmaster. Working new muscles will force the body to work as hard as it was in the beginning.
Avatar f tn t for you, start at home by performing one set of eight to 12 repetitions of an exercise for every major muscle group two times per week on non-consecutive days. A simple routine involves a set of squats, pushups, triceps dips, pullups and crunches. After these body-weight exercises become manageable for 12 repetitions, add weight in the form of dumbbells or resistance bands. Aim to be more active all day long. Make sure you get the OK from your doctor!!
Avatar f tn squat, front squat, hack squat, split leg squat, leg press, lunge, leg extension, leg curl, standing calf raise and seated calf raise. if you need to google each exercise. For each exercise, complete between three and four sets of 12 to 15 repetitions, resting for a maximum of 60 seconds between sets. Make sure to get the OK from your doctor!
Avatar f tn Losing 40 pounds by Sep 14 is a pretty tough goal; that's only 12 weeks away. Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week; you'd have to plan on losing a little over 3 pounds/week and wouldn't be able to backslide a bit. I think your goal is a bit optimistic. You should first check to make sure you don't have an medical issues that might prevent you from losing weight, such as hypothyroidism or insulin resistance. Your doctor can order some simple blood tests.
1285110 tn?1420147378 I hope that my comment is not disappointing. I would never go for a weight loss challenge. I believe that grudual loss of weight through regular exercise is the best method to fitness and maintaining the desired weight. I have been jogging or running for the last 20 years and I have maintained more or less the same. The only time I gain weight is whenever I stop exercising for weeks. But once I go back to my exercise routine I do lose weight and regain my fitness.
Avatar f tn but I notice the difference when im in the third month of my routine and fully developed up to 6 month of continues routine. if you want to see if you loose weight stop for 1week to help you muscle turn down and rest you will see the results but once you stop there is tendency you will not continue because you will become lazy. I suggest look pcos in positive way because its time for you to change your lifestyle.
1099201 tn?1338180918 they can do. This is one reason people who want to lose weight add more overt exercise to their routine, such as going to a gym, or swimming, or doing a fitness routine. Among other benefits (and there are a lot of them, from being more clearheaded to having a healthier heart to getting a better metabolism) it helps them burn calories.
5014680 tn?1364331022 I agree that exercise must go hand in hand. While it's possible to lose weight without exercise, it's the exercise that helps build muscles and keeps them strong. Easiest is to cut 250 calories and expend 250 calories/day....... that's 500 and over the course of a week should result in a 1 lb loss.
Avatar f tn Losing and maintaining weight is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. I have some ideas for you, if you'd like to message me privately.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had any success with anything for loosing weight while on lexapro????????
Avatar f tn com/2008/08/25/the-hcg-diet-yet-another-fad-diet/ Aetna (*******), one of many insurance carriers, has a Clinical Policy Bulletin regarding Weight Reduction Medications and Programs posted that excludes Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) or vitamin injections for weight loss because it is considered experimental and investigational for weight loss. If you'd like to lose excess weight, may I suggest you focus on the basics? Take an honest look at your eating habits and daily routine.
Avatar n tn do you give yourself any rest days? you shouldn't be exercising every day. your body needs to recover from all that hard work. recovery is very important. your body needs those rest days to rebuild muscles or basically just recover from the activities. also, make sure that when you do exercise that you mix it up a bit. you don't have to exercise 2 hours every time you work out, 7 days a week. sure, some days can be 2 hours, but other days, maybe just 45 mins to an hour.

Avatar n tn hi, working out an hour/day is great, no need to cut your food intake down because you are already working out, you need only to drink more water (especially warm) it will melt your extra fat off and and you will get your desired weight, if you still wanna try something, you must go for beyond weight management tea,a very good thing for weight management.
Avatar f tn s highly individualized.) Diet, for many people, is much more important for weight loss than exercise is. I myself have lost 40 pounds and have kept it off by means of diet alone, without any significant contribution of exercise. Starving yourself does not work, but changing what you eat does. I recommend that people consider the paleo diet, because that's what has worked for me.
Avatar m tn ve been following Weight Watchers for 2 months, very faithfully, writing everything down, staying within my points range and I haven't lost a pound! Up 1lb. one week, down 1lb. the next week. This goes on week after week and I stay the same. I exercise my butt off at least 6 days a week for an hour or more a day. Cardio/weight training and Karate 3x a week. I've had my Thyroid checked and everything is normal. I've done Weight Watchers in the past and have been very successful.
Avatar n tn Exercise is a way of life that brings your body to good health while losing weight or mantaining weight. 1-2 lbs is a reasonable weight loss goal per week not much more. Remember 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories so you will have to burn that much calories in order to lose just 1 lb of fat. Be patient is it happens slowly.
Avatar f tn My suggestion is to changing your diet to kick start the weight loss. It worked for me.
