Avatar n tn I'm 17 weeks into an exercise program to recover from being pretty deconditioned. Starting out with 10 minute walks, and now I walk 30 minutes or go 20 minutes on my elliptical trainer every day. My resting heart rate has dropped from mid 80s to low 70s, and anxiety or mild exertion doesn't send my heart rate above 100 like it used to. But the last couple weeks, I've noticed that my heart rate has been going up more rapidly on the elliptical trainer.
Avatar f tn I know it is too early (1 week post op), but looking forward, has any found a relaxing exercise program? My first thoughts were yoga, swim, or Zumba. I kook forward to trying something when the time is right. Thanks!
Avatar m tn i had a nissen fundaplacation surgery one in 2006 another in 2011 what exercise for my stomach should i not do
655875 tn?1295695107 I was wondering about the 10,000 steps exercise program, but I'm a little confused. I was watching Dr. Oz(however, I'm not a fan) talk to this lady aout the 10,000 steps program. He stated that the 10,000 steps needed to take place at least twice a week in the same day. This sounds interesting to me, but I physically can not take the 10,000 steps without going into unbearable pain if it is done all at once.
Avatar f tn I need to find a moderate- intermediate exercise program while I'm pregnant. I'm nine weeks today. And I'm already showing... I'd really like to keep the weight gain healthy instead of excessive. If anyone knows where I can find a program like that let me know. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I did some arm exercise in bed the other day, only with 5 lbs whichfelt quite heavy. some time afterward, my arms and neck felt incredibly weak. I couldnt even be on the computer. I got reallly scared and called my doc but he said that weakness was not related to dysautonomia..Anyone have a similiar response? Im afraid to do it again or did i start off too heavy?
327385 tn?1378360731 Oh! Me too! About the only thing I can do seems to be walking... and yeah, when it gets cold out, that starts to get difficult. Anything that puts my neck at an odd angle... or anything that bounces my head around... always gives me a headache!! And, usually any exercise that causes too much exertion will result in a headache too. Basically it means no exercise. And, my doctor is always saying "exercise! you need to exercise, that will help your headaches!
Avatar f tn I used to do a similar style of circuit class but once I found out I was pregnant., my doctor said to stick to low-moderate intensity exercise particularly for the first trimester. To be honest I've been too tired to even think about doing those classes!
Avatar f tn As stated in the above post, do be sure and check with your doctor before beginning ANY type exercise program.
Monkey Absolutely! Any exercise where your heart rate rises over 100 will be beneficial. Try to keep you heart rate elevated for at least 30 minutes 3-5 times peer week. Please consult your physician if you have any chronic medical problems. You will find that by dropping your calories to under 1800 calories per day you will be more successful at your weight loss. For most people they need to walk 35 miles to lose 1 lb of fat--possibly shorter for bike riding but not by much.
139792 tn?1498585650 Rather than emphasize the long-term health benefits of an exercise program -- which can be difficult to sustain -- we urge providers to focus with their patients on the immediate benefits," he says. "After just 25 minutes, your mood improves, you are less stressed, you have more energy -- and you'll be motivated to exercise again tomorrow. A bad mood is no longer a barrier to exercise; it is the very reason to exercise.
Avatar f tn Am also on specific, gentle neck/shoulder exercise program. Forward head posture will always tug at this place in the spine. You need to relieve your hand pressure at the source. PS it will take time to learn exactly what to do.
Avatar m tn I have found that a lot of my chronic neck and shoulder pain is due to my posture, Particularly due to rolled-shoulders and head forward positions for extended periods of time. I have been working on my posture and have had very good results. However, at work, I take extensive hand written notes while talking to clients. I perform evaluations in different environments and don't have much control over the ergonomic setting.
1436330 tn?1284666036 Hello, about one year ago I to did the iop. It was a great program the only bad thing for me was when I heard some of the stories I thought to myself "well I'm not that bad" although I didn't use while I was there 8 am to 5pm. When I got in the car I took one half of a hydrocodone when Before I was takin 3/4 a day, so I made it thu the program but a few months later I was up to 6 a day! Now a year later I hate it that I didn't try harder!
Avatar m tn Now, about 3 weeks into my new exercise program, I am starting to get palpitations during the day, while sitting at my computer. I also sometimes feel them when I'm starting a walk, however, it seems that once I warm up a bit, I don't feel them anymore. It actually seems like the only time lately I'm not feeling occasional palpitations is when I'm in the middle of a walk.
Avatar f tn Behavior modification techniques need to be utilized in addition to any exercise or physical therapy program. Trying to erase a habit is difficult at any age. You might want to consult with his physical therapist regarding useful tools to assist you in behavior modification techniques. The similarity of his neck positioning for comfort and thumb sucking in children indicates the extent of his need to continue this habit.
388443 tn?1229349690 first off what is your diet and exercise program like???? do you have any issues with your thyroid? i have been on a roller coaster with my weight for years, maybe i can help shed some light on this for you...
Avatar m tn Your feeling that your breathing has returned to baseline normal is important but should not alone, be relied upon to make the decision to return to your full exercise program. In addition, even should all the preceding be favorable, it would be wise to resume exercise with a low-level program and increase it over 1-2 weeks, in a stepwise fashion, every 2-3 days. If still unsure that all is well, check with your asthma doctor.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to update you guys on how my exercise program is going. I have been meeting with a personal trainer now for two months, twice a week for about 45 minutes. I have had NO major setbacks so far!!! She happens to also be a nurse, so I felt less anxious about working with her. She was unfamiliar with Dysautonomia, POTS, but researched it so that she would understand my condition(s). Needless to say, she was nervous about working with me and saw me (as I did) as fragile.
Avatar f tn Someone who is in shape can exercise vigorously, but somebody who has not been getting any real exercise will need to start out with an easier program. Somebody in between can work out at a moderate pace. Everybody should exercise a minimum of 3 days a week to make any gains at all, and it really takes at least four to see fast results. Once the heart is in shape and the body muscles are used to a light program you can step it up to something more moderate.
483733 tn?1326798446 While playing the waiting game to hear how they are going to treat my issues, is it OK to exercise? I'm not a normally active (exercise wise) person. I don't want to do anything that would cause cysts to burst or twist. What do you think?
Avatar m tn Treatment is usually conservative including painkillers, neck immobilization with a cervical collar or rigid collar particularly during strenuous activity helps relieve neck pain and suboccipital pain caused due to spondylosis and the nerve compression. You should plan a daily cervical exercise program with the guidance of a physiotherapist. There are isometric neck strengthening exercises which could help you.
1646836 tn?1301430573 See your doctor before you start any exercise program. If you haven't worked out in a while (or ever) start with a walking program of about 20 to 30 minutes, 3 days a week. Every day, ask yourself how you will make your life healthier. It can be as simple as drinking more water or parking farther away from the front door.
Avatar n tn My last period was about 3 months ago. I also have been on a diet and exercise program for abou 8 months and have lost about 35 lbs. I do aerobic exercise 4-5 days a week for 30-45 minutes. I have spotting after exercising. It ususally is very light. Should I be concerned.
Avatar f tn After about 10 days to two weeks post-surgery, you may begin incorporating curlups into your exercise program. Lie on your back and bend your knees. Place your hands behind your neck for support and lift your head, neck and upper shoulders off the mat or bed. If you have Diastasis Recti, a separation of the large muscles in your core, only lift your head while using your hands to support your stomach muscles. If you google the exercises you should be able to see videos.
Avatar f tn Do you know about squats ? Or the machine that you like sit down and push the weight with your legs ? And what about arm work out of any kind ?
Avatar m tn There are specialists that can help you regarding the exercises, and I believe it is hard to prescribe an exercise program through this forum due to the fragility of the situation. A professional physical therapist or a physiatrist (doctor specialized in rehabilitation) can prescribe and supervise controlled exercises that can ultimately benefit your stiff cervical spine. For now, avoid as much stress as possible (though I know this may be difficult) and make sure you have adequate rest.
