But that leaves that huge middle which is still based on your enjoyment, not necessity.
Avatar n tn Are they going to put you on a low dose beta blocker that blocks out a good percentage of the adrenaline? You will still have all of the benefits of running with your body it just means that your heart won't have to work as hard. I would not be too concerned either...unless of course you doc advises otherwise to you. The only person that can really give you great advice on this one is your doc.

1047019 tn?1256719961 I love long-distance running...cross country in particular. I've run with untreated asthma for many years and it's really not a safe thing to do. I've been caught in situations where I've had to stop and "wait out" coughing episodes, which can be very intense and long-lived. I've also had to stop because I couldn't breathe, which isn't cool. For the past few years, due to breathing issues, I've only run a handful of times.

As for your question, I do not know the answer. We do have some physical therapists on the forum and oneof our member is about your age and runs as well.
684604 tn?1293477726 Ali, as long as your pregnancy is uncomplicated there is no reason not to be physically active. I am 33 weeks pregnant today. I was a triathlete before getting pregnant and kept running and biking and swimming up to 3 months, when I had a laparatomy for suspected (and then confirmed) appendicitis (that's the problem with us athletic types - we are pretty good with pain, and no one would believe i was in so much pain becuase I was able to stay active despite it. But that's off-topic).
1906433 tn?1321844691 I would like to get back into exercising more, however I'm concerned with how my cranium will handle it, because it's still healing from having a tumor removed in 08/11. I do walk, but I did more before the tumor was diagnosed. My neurosurgeon doesn't address anything that he doesn't seem to think is his field. My chiropractor says walk, walk, walk. Which is ok, but with the weather getting colder, I can't tolerate outside much.

Your body really needs complex carbs, rather than simple carbs like sugar and other highly processed foods. Try fresh, or steamed veggies in place of the Slim Fast. You can do a web search for "good for you" food that have the complex carbs, which also takes your body longer to break down.

LIVER FAILURE if you want to live. 3. RENAL FAILURE if you want to live with dignity. .....do you really have to think about this?
Avatar f tn I know that exercise in pregnancy is recommended, as long as it's mild (like walking or gentle yoga). Does anyone have experience with more vigorous exercise? Nothing crazy (no p90X or anything), but something that does elevate the heart rate a little bit? I'm not very in shape right now, but I know that improving, or at least maintaining my current level of fitness will be beneficial for me and baby.
597183 tn?1226814437 I suffer from AFib and my cardiologist always encouraged me to exercise, even run. But in my case, a senior, running is better described as jogging and only a few miles at that. Still, after heart surgery a year ago, I have not gotten back to even jogging. But I degress, I respond mostly to keep you post on the top of the list a bit longer. Greendave, a member of this community, may respond. He is an advocate of high energy physical activity as I recall.
Avatar f tn I was prediabetic but lowered my A1c from 6.6 to 5.8 over 3 months. My fasting blood sugar is usually under 100 now, but I have noticed that if I run 2-3 hard miles before testing, it's 120's and even after running if fasting has been below 100, it goes up to 120's. I thought exercise should bring it down. I am confused about whether I should be running.
405614 tn?1329144114 ) It is common knowledge that exercise is important to human beings, but most of us either can’t manage to squeeze it in to our busy day or invent excuses not to do so. I’m no exception. I am often sidelined by symptoms of multiple sclerosis and am much too slow to take advantage of the rebound. If you have physical symptoms that make a long walk impossible or inadvisable, perhaps you can substitute with a stroll around your own backyard.

Avatar f tn Interval training, which is cardiovascular exercise that alternates between periods of high- and moderate-intensity activity, helps you burn more calories than moderate-intensity activity alone. Zumba involves both fast and slow dancing, so it works like interval training. Zumba works your whole body, helping tone every muscle group, particularly your back and abdominals. The dance moves may also improve your posture, balance and flexibility.
Avatar m tn Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 10 to 15 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently(once in 2 seconds).

Avatar n tn He says the mask is more because others get afraid than a truly large risk of getting or giving the virus while running outdoors, but does suggest wearing a mask if you must run in a crowded place. As I suggested, he also suggests running at night or in places where a lot of people aren't also walking slowly and the like. He appeared to be running on a paved road through a heavily wooded area, so maybe he lives near such a place. There wasn't anyone else around.
