Avatar f tn As the previous poster stated, often keeping your blood glucose (BG) under control will help to alleviate diabetes symptoms such as increased thirst and frequent urination. If you are not checking your blood sugar at home, I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor to check your blood glucose and make sure that your medication is at the correct dose to manage your diabetes.

Avatar n tn A simple blood sugar test would identify whether you have diabetes or not. However, diabetes would have also been characterized by excessive thirst and night-time urination also. A drug called tamsulosin has been quite effective in reducing frequent urination symptoms due to prostatitis. You can start taking tamsulosin after discussion with your urologist and check for an improvement in your symptoms. Tea is a diuretic and will increase frequency of urination.

Avatar m tn Go to your doctor and have him perform a physical and run some blood work. It could be a lot of things but be on the safe side and get checked out.
Avatar n tn While excessive thirst IS one of the symptoms of diabetes, that alone is not cause for alarm. Other signs to watch for are frequent urination, dramatic weight loss, and sometimes the symptoms can mimic the stomach flu. If your daughter is especially active, the 5-8 bottles of liquid you mention may be what her body requires to stay hydrated in the summer's heat.
Avatar n tn Have you experienced any of the other typical signs of diabetes such as extreme thirst or frequent urination? Please visit the jdrf website at www.jdrf.org for more information, especially if it is determined that you have diabetes. Best of luck to you.
Avatar n tn m thinking that you should take him to his pediatrician and have his blood tested, especially with a family history of diabetes. Another typical symptom that goes along with the increased thirst is frequent urination. If you have noticed this also, make sure you mention this to the doctor along with the irritability you mentioned in your posting. If it is diabetes, the sooner he gets treatment, the better it will be for him both physicially and emotionally (for everyone involved!).
Avatar n tn Frequent urination, Excessive thirst, Extreme hunger, Unusual weight loss, Increased fatigue, Irritability and blurry vision are some other symptoms of diabetes I would suggest if you recognize one or more of these symptoms to take her to the doctor and request a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. Those tests will give you a real answer and you won't just worry if she does have diabetes.
Avatar f tn I have posted quite a few times on this forum trying to find answers as to whats going on with me. I am 21 years old & pretty much healthy. For the last almost five months I have been having these weird symptoms. First it started with this cramping-pulling pain on my left side & my right arm. Than started the dizziness & ear pains (popping, buzzing, etc.) I got a few episodes of that..than I started getting lightheaded and disoriented & having Insomnia..I don`t sleep very well..
Avatar m tn Well, it makes sense that whatever goes in has to come out, but I have excessive thirst as well. She told me to stop drinking 3 hours before I go to sleep. When I tried this, I still kept going to the bathroom after I stopped drinking. I woke up dehydrated to the point that my eye lids felt sticky. I was checked for diabetes mellitus. This was done through a 3 month blood glucose test. I also had a urinalysis done. I'm not sure what was tested for.
Avatar f tn In many instances, diabetes (especially in its early stages) has no signs at all. When blood sugar levels are very high, it may cause frequent urination, excessive thirst, slow-healing wounds, reduced energy, and changes in vision. Best to see your physician and ask for labwork to see if you truly have diabetes or its precursor, called prediabetes.
Avatar f tn When was the last time you have blood glucose checked? Sounds like maybe diabetes. Some of the most common symptoms are excessive thirst, frequent urination and changes in vision... good luck!
Avatar n tn Frequent urination Excessive thirst Extreme hunger Unusual weight loss Increased fatigue Irritability Blurry vision Maybe you should go to a neurologist, a doctor who deals with things involving your head/brain. Or maybe an ear, nose and throat doctor, maybe it has something to do with your sinuses or some other thing with your nasal cavity, since it is so close to the eyes.
Avatar f tn You are right in saying that frequent urination is one sign of diabetes together with excessive thirst, excessive hunger, weight loss and fatigue Talk to your doctor for another glucose test if the previous test was already a year ago to determine if there are changes in your glucose levels. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn For the past year I have been peeing a lot. I dont just get the "urge" to go, I actually go...and go...and go some more. About every 30 minutes to an hour. It has progressively been getting worse. I am in my mid 20's and am healthy besides that.
Avatar f tn I had the worst excessive urination from low potassium. I lived in the toilet and was getting splits on my skin down there from constantly using toilet paper. I was using Savlon cream to relieve the pain. The relief of orange juice! High in potassium. Went from excessive urination to normal OVERNIGHT! Low potassium causes dry skin too btw.
Avatar n tn As Zoelula states, usually there are other symptoms, such as excessive thirst, carbohydrate cravings and excessive urination.
Avatar n tn The intense thirst and frequent urination ABSOLUTELY sound like juvenile diabetes, and the exhaustion is highly suspicious. I have never heard of scabs being a symptom. Have they checked her blood sugar level and done a urine test? Make sure they do!
