m thinking that you should take him to his pediatrician and have his blood tested, especially with a family history of diabetes. Another typical symptom that goes along with the increased thirst is frequent urination. If you have noticed this also, make sure you mention this to the doctor along with the irritability you mentioned in your posting. If it is diabetes, the sooner he gets treatment, the better it will be for him both physicially and emotionally (for everyone involved!).

Frequent urination, Excessive thirst, Extreme hunger, Unusual weight loss, Increased fatigue, Irritability and blurry vision are some other symptoms of diabetes I would suggest if you recognize one or more of these symptoms to take her to the doctor and request a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. Those tests will give you a real answer and you won't just worry if she does have diabetes.

I have posted quite a few times on this forum trying to find answers as to whats going on with me. I am 21 years old & pretty much healthy. For the past year I have been peeing a lot. I dont just get the "urge" to go, I actually go...and go...and go some more. About every 30 minutes to an hour. It has progressively been getting worse. I am in my mid 20's and am healthy besides that.

I had the worst excessive urination from low potassium. I lived in the toilet and was getting splits on my skin down there from constantly using toilet paper. I was using Savlon cream to relieve the pain. The relief of orange juice! High in potassium. Went from excessive urination to normal OVERNIGHT! Low potassium causes dry skin too btw.
