Common Questions and Answers about Excessive sneezing in dogs

sneeze

Avatar f tn Is excessive sneezing part of withdrawal? I sneeze 8-9 times in a row still and I'm at day 15. If this is from the withdrawal, when might it go away. It must be part of the withdrawal since it started about 2 weeks ago.
Avatar n tn Sneezing dogs, this time of the year, is a sure sign of allergies (especially if they're fine throughout the rest of the year). What RedHed1973 said... Benadryl. We actually give ours the regular kind (non-drowsy of course). Works like a charm and stops the itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, eye boogers & sneezing. Late April through August is allergy season for our girls, so we stock up on Benadryl big time during those months!
Avatar f tn *sneezing. Does anyone else have this problem?
1186396 tn?1264378747 not a good idea to have kitty eating the dogs food, there is such a difference in essential ingredients unique to each breed. Most allergies will show up on the skin, similar to our allergies exhibiting to us as sneezing or runny eyes....so I would try a change to a good hypoallergenic diet as described on many other posts you can read back on....or a change at least away from food containing poultry products....
Avatar f tn I was VERY interested in the vet saying he could hear congestion in his nose... which goes with reverse sneezing. I was also interested in the report that the dog licks a lot. Well, our dog is blowing his coat at an unexpected time because we had balmy weather when normal is very cold this time of year. He licks his coat, of course, all the time, and we do our best to keep up with the big white clumps of fur coming off him.
973741 tn?1342342773 As far as I know, dogs do not catch colds. But there might be something else wrong. There is nothing wrong with a dog's nose being wet. But if she is snuffling, sneezing, coughing or breathing in a strange way it's best you check her out at the vet's. Dogs can sometimes get foreign bodies lodged in their noses, like a grass seed, etc.
Avatar f tn I hear that if people have dogs with fleas in an apt, then move, the fleas can lie dormant in the carpet. Then when a new dog comes along they come out of hybernation and attack the "fresh meat" He eats Beneful dog food for watching weight. And I did treat he with the between the shoulder blades stuff and a dog collar for extra protection. I will take all of your ideas and do them through a process of elimination. He does have a habit of eating things off the ground when he is outside.
Avatar n tn The constant runny nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion could be due to vasomotor rhinitis, in which the symptoms occur in response to a trigger, like eating spicy food or going outside in the cold. The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlopheneramine and lovatidine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion.
694466 tn?1227677802 Hi. My name is Kayla and I had a question about my dogs health. My dog recently got home from a kennel last weekend. Since then she has been sneezing when she gets excited or runs around too much. She also has been hacking. At first I thought it was kennel cough, but heartworm also seems to be a possibility. How can I tell which it is?
Avatar f tn There are many human foods that are completely unsuitable for dogs, and one of the many reasons why dogs become ill is because of scraps of human food that is given to dogs. While we are not susceptible to these toxins, dogs are, as they have completely different digestive systems. Please take a look at my article on this subject so you don't give these foods by mistake. http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar m tn Hello all, I'm not sure if the normal sneezing, wheezing, puffy eyed symptoms qualify as severe, but I have always had the tingle sensation around dogs. My question is how effective is immunotherapy since I've been on it for approximately 1 year now?
Avatar n tn Additionally, if your cat sniffed up a foreign body and it is lodged in his nose it may have to be removed by a vet, and could be the cause of his excessive sneezing. Sneezing is the bodies way to remove invaders.
Avatar f tn thanks, I really don't have anyone else to ask and I just want to know how much longer this can go on. I'll try t be patient.
4202953 tn?1377183506 Sneezing is very common... im still sneezing at 53 days. Nothing like the first 30 days though. Now i take it as a reminder that im still healing. I'll take that over the sweats anytime... one of the things that had me stumped. Then my pal Tom from the board told me about putting a cold cloth on my stomach at night... it worked!
Avatar f tn YOU CAN SEE HER BODY KIND OF LIKE HEAVING OR CONVULSING. I TOOK HER TO MY VET AND THEY SAID SHE WAS REVERSE SNEEZING. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS. HE ALSO SAID TO GIVE HER A HALF OF A BENEDRYL. WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE GOES TO THE VET REGULARY AND IS UPDATED ON ALL SHOTS AND TREATMENTS SHE SOMETIMES HAS ALLERGIES. LAST NIGHT THIS EPISODE LASTED ABOUT 1 MINUTE IT WAS VERY SCARY.
Avatar f tn Some dogs have an allergy to fleas, and their symptoms last longer than dogs without the allergies. http://www.petshed.com/petcyclopedia/treating-flea-allergy-dermatitis.
1622527 tn?1301644622 The only real advice I can give you is to take him to the vet for a thorough examination (Heart/Lungs, and bloodwork) That is the soundest advice I can think of, and if you could manage to find the cash to do that, one way or another....it would be a wise move. However, it is just possible this could be what is called "Reverse Sneezing". Google "Reverse Sneezing You Tube" and you will come up with videos of dogs with this.
Avatar n tn We are a dog family and have shown in obedience, conformation and 4H so we have owned and housebroken many dogs so we have a good understanding of normal habits and housebreaking. He took her to his vet and they have ran all the tests including ultra sounds on her bladder and kidneys, blood work has been done and all test have come back negative. She isn't diabetic or have a shunt or kidney disease. She is healthy and happy but urinates as much as a 9 week old at 8 months old.
