Common Questions and Answers about Evista how long to take

evista

Avatar f tn I have had a surgery to remove the tumor and surrounding lymph nodes in my left groin as well as exploratory abdomina l surger and multiple biopsies and 6 chemo treatments with taxol and carboplatin during 2008. I am no longer taking Evista, but while doing some research to see if I wanted to go back on it for my osteopenia, I found some references to a correlation between Evista and ovarian cancer and wondered if that could have had a bearing on my case.
Avatar n tn Hi, I too take Evista for bone health.. Are you taking tamoxifen because of any past cancer ? I'm not sure that the answers you seek will be on this forum, unless you have or are recovering from Ovarian Cancer or perhaps think you may have it. I know your question is important and I hope you find the correct forum in order to be better served. Perhaps the Women's Health??. Most importantly, what does your Dr. say?
Avatar n tn Hi, Hair loss in a known but not highly common side effect of Evista. If you do a search: "Evista and hair loss" you will find numerous references to this side effect. This link: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/evista/hair+loss indicates that as of Sep. 15, 2013, 17,635 people were reported to the FDA to have side effects when taking Evista. Among them, 259 people (1.47%) have Hair Loss. Time on Evista when these people had hair loss: < 1 month 4.35% 1 - 6 months 4.
Avatar f tn Since I am prone to hot flashes, doc prescribed Effexor, an anti-deppresant known to combat hot flashes to take along with the Evista. I hate the idea of taking a med to offset SE's caused by another med. I was hoping that my flashes would be gone by now so that I wouldn't get a double whammy of them when I started the Evista. But I think valuable time is going by. I have an appt with the onc on July 8th.
Avatar m tn Hi there I too was recommend to go on Evista. I am going to take it. i ave been on Fosamax for the last year. That was prescribed by my primary doctor. My oncologist recommended that I take the Evista, besides the helping of osteoporsis I have ADH (atypical ductal hyperplasia) and have a high risk of cancer.
Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar f tn he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Lexapro and it's stopped my hot flashes. If you've had BC be sure to ask your doctor before you take natural remedies as some can cause issues.
600561 tn?1326845621 Just after breakfast seems so bizarre that I concentrate on that. Sometimes in the afternoon I am tired and I do rest so that is not terribly unusual.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I suffered some of the side effects, fever, and severe bone pain to the point of not being able to take in a full breath. My doctor was so concerned he put me on a steroid dose pack to reduce the reaction. My body doesn't seem very tolerant of any drugs, couldn't take anything other than extra strength Tylenol for a foot surgery. I will have to figure out something else with an endocronologist?
Avatar n tn There was probably a leaflet of some sort with this kind of information included with the medicine package.
Avatar f tn My mother in law also suffers from severe bone density loss, and was also instructed to take a similar one of these medications, but since has not. She has instead decided to take a fortified calcium supplement, but I believe her doctor told her that it would not help to restore what she has already lost, only possibly help to further prevent additional loss.
Avatar f tn Hi guys, I'm on week 45 3 shots to go. after I take my last shot how long do I keep taking the ribavirin? I haven't posted much but read and learn from you guys almost every day. You all have been a godsend to me.
Avatar f tn After 2 days I got headaches, and had to take half and built up to 25mcg (my doc said to take one alternate days initially as he thought I was borderline hypo but allowed me meds because of my symptoms). The specialist Dr Lupo on the Thyroid Nodules/Cancer forum said that increases take about 2 weeks for your body to adjust.. A friend of mine has been on synthroid for years and said it takes a couple of weeks for her to adjust to every increase.
Avatar n tn To avoid having to worry about whether or not I waited long enough after taking synthroid, I take mine while still in bed about and hour and a half before I get up. I'm able to fall right back to sleep afterwards.
492490 tn?1255405372 There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.
Avatar f tn m supposed to start Evista (not Tamoxifene because I am post menopausal) but I am waiting for my hot flashes to stop before I take the Evista because I was taking Prempro and weaned off of that when I found out about LCIS. Gotta go get my oil changed. Talk at 'ya later.
Avatar n tn I am 67 yrs old and take a variety of medications. Many of my conditions are related to post-Graves Disease. Ten years ago I had my gallbladder out after an attack of acute pancreatitis. I subsequently developed chronic pancreatitis and was diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi. Rather than have the invasive surgery I went on a strict, fresh chicken soup diet with supplements ordered by an Ayruvedic doctor. Within 2 years I was completely recovered and could eat anything.
Avatar f tn What is the best way to take levoxyl 175mcg tablets? Is it okay to take it in the am with all your other meds?
Avatar f tn There is good logic in taking a child off the pill to see how they cope. There are many kids with ADHD that have learned how to cope and can go off medication. Of course, it all depends on how severely they are affected, and how old they are, what their needs are, etc. The main thing is that the children have to be trained how to cope. Just taking them off to see what happens is not helping them too much. Even though adderall is out of the system fairly quickly.
