Avatar n tn Is there any drug interaction between these two drugs ? I am taking Evista for Osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn I do not think that any drug, medication can cause the cancer to come back....but, if the cells are there, I believe, and just my personal observation, that estrogen can cause the cells to grow. It happened to me and a few others on this forum would probably feel the same that I do, that taking HRT caused the cancer cells, or masses, or cysts to grow faster than they would have otherwise.
600561 tn?1326845621 I am 68 and all tests indicate that I am in very good health. For the moment, my only perscription drug is Evista. Where can I go with this question? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi again, In addition to all the good information zouzi provided, IF you are postmenopausal, there is a second drug, Evista, that has also been approved for prevention of invasive breast cancer. It is also used to reduce the risk of spinal fractures related to osteoporosis, which is a plus for some women. (It was during studies of the use of Evista to treat osteoporosis that researchers noticed that among post-menopausal women who took the drug there was a lower rate of invasive breast cancer.
Avatar m tn Has anyone heard of taking Tamoxifen or Evista as a possible step in breast cancer prevention? My doctor has suggested it because I'm in a high risk category. I'm not sure what to do.
Avatar f tn he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.
Avatar m tn When a patent for a brand name drug expires, pharmaceutical company can make a generic form of the drug. Effexor patent expired in 2006, since then several generics are available. Those generics are usually cheaper but they must contain the same active ingredient(s), the same dosage form, at the same dose or concentration, and for the same route of administration. The generics are usually cheaper and can use different inactive ingredients and preservatives which can sometimes cause trouble.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm ok, but I think about this every day since I found out. It bothers me more than I thought it would. I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back.
883607 tn?1241847511 You can try Webmd for generic names but most drs and many pharmacists have a 2 tier system, name brands and generic drugs and dispense them accordingly. Not all name brand drugs have generic equivalents so they don't use the generic names. Most pharmacists also are so busy that they only have time to verify the meds in the bottle against what is in it and read the possible side effects if needed by a patron.

Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar f tn Something that also helps is a drug called Clonidine. (it's not the same as Klonopin) It's a blood pressure drug but prescribed for multiple other purposes also and it's great for sleeping and very short acting. helps with hot flashes as well. Ask your doctor about it, although many docs don't know anything about the use of this drug except for blood pressure.

Avatar f tn Is anyone getting ringing in the ears from taking Generic Wellbutrin(Bupropion sr ) 150 mg. Here is my situation I have been on amitriptiline 25 mg 4 years then went up to 50 mg for 3 years. I started taking only one 150 mg of bupropion sr this is my 5 day. Can I stop taking the amitriptiline with no withdrawls after only 5 days of Bupropion? or has it not been long enough. I hoping that I can stop the amitriptiline by taking the bupropion sr in place of the amitriptiline.
Avatar f tn it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.
Avatar f tn When a doctor on ABC national news suggested that women stop taking it after 5 years, I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss stopping this med. My doctor agreed, but now suggests that I take Evista. I researched Evista online and found that it is linked to increased risk of ovarian cancer and stroke, in addition to other nasty symptoms I have never experienced (including hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia). I am afraid to take this drug, too, and don't know what to do.
572651 tn?1530999357 What amazes me is Teva makes more off the US market than all the rest of the countries of the world combined. It can't be research and development which makes it more expensive for the US market since that happens in Israel. I do not think it is because they sell us more. I think it more likely they charge us more. Especially since countries like Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom buy all the drugs and have more bargaining power.
Avatar f tn what is a generic drug?
Business man2 I was on this generic drug with you for a while. Why was it taken off the generic list? Is there another generic that works like it for BPH?
Avatar n tn s safe to take Effexor and alprazolam, which is generic for Xanax, yes, you can take the two together. The Effexor should help with your anxiety though so you may want to talk to your Dr about stopping the Xanax. Depending on how you've been on it you may need to taper.
Avatar m tn I have a high deductibule ins policy I have found several web sights that offer generic Plavix or [clopidogrel] that is suginifantly cheeper than brand name Plavix Will the generic work as good as plavix? Or is it just a plasebo?
Avatar n tn the generic in india is absolutely the same as brands, it is just cheap and easy chemicals.....so easy to do.
Avatar n tn When a drug patent runs out, a (usually much) less-expensive generic drug comes onto the market, which is chemically and medically equivalent to the brand-name drug. If he's saying what I think he's saying, I'd like to know what the difference here could possibly be. How could the the equivalent be different?...and if its different, how could it be equivalent? If not, what does the other answer mean? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
