The last scan has cleared a small patch I had. Tamoxifen is supposed to cut the estrogen supply. I do not know whether Evista will promote Estrogen !! I cannot get to other forum because of the daily quota for new questions and help. Hopefully I can pose this question to Dr.Ann Kathryn one of these days. Thanks.

I wondered about the connection between Evista and Ovarian cysts which have also been mentioned "together". However upon further researching and talking with my Gyn., no real correlation has been found. Also, Evista is an Estrogen "blocker" . It has been shown actually to prevent some types of breast cancer..I was placed on Evista 8 years ago after some suspicious mammograms , which fortunately turned out to be nothing.

Hi, I'm ok, but I think about this every day since I found out. It bothers me more than I thought it would. I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back.

I had estrogen positive stage 2 breast cancer eight years ago. I had my overies and breasts removed because I have a family history of breast cancer. I' m currently taking Evista and my estrogen level is the same as a mans. Am I out of the woods yet?

s been shown to be quite a bit more effective than Tamoxifen at curtailing the production of estrogen. My estradiol (estrogen) blood level is at a negative 20 at the moment, and I take Aromasin only every other day. Please ask your doc about it; swelling of the feet doesn't seem to be a common symptom of it. It's got other side effects that are icky, like sore hands and hot flashes, but so what. I'm alive! Hi, Hair loss in a known but not highly common side effect of Evista. If you do a search: "Evista and hair loss" you will find numerous references to this side effect. This link: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/evista/hair+loss indicates that as of Sep. 15, 2013, 17,635 people were reported to the FDA to have side effects when taking Evista. Among them, 259 people (1.47%) have Hair Loss. Time on Evista when these people had hair loss: < 1 month 4.35% 1 - 6 months 4.

Has anyone heard of taking Tamoxifen or Evista as a possible step in breast cancer prevention? My doctor has suggested it because I'm in a high risk category. I'm not sure what to do.

he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.

Hi, Even with a total hysterectomy,the body will still produce some estrogen which is effectively blocked with an aromatase inhibitor (such as arimidex,Femara etc). In one study, aromatase inhibitors were found to offer greater benefit than tamoxifen in Post- menopausal women.Tamoxifen blocks the estrogen especially to the breast tissue. This is an important distinction because aromatase inhibitors cannot be used in Pre- menopausal women.

There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.

I am not sure which medication your mother is taking, but Evista (raloxifene) can cause muscle cramps of the legs. Please have your mother make an appointment with her physician.

The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?

All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.

my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.

With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause. After my diagnosis of breast cancer (estrogen positive) my oncologist recommended I avoid soy products because even the weak phytoestrogens may stimulate cancer cells. Research is not conclusive but better to be safe. As the addage goes, 'all things in moderation.

Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
