Evista and uterine cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Evista and uterine cancer

evista

Avatar f tn Tamoxifin can cause blood clots and uterine cancer. Evista is a little better in the side effects I believe, however everyone is different. I also have ADH(atypical ductal hyperplasia) and it increased my risk from 1.6 to 3.2 which is doubled, so I am considering the same thing. I am also having pathology reviewed by yet another lab to be sure it is not DCIS, which I am sure the other pathology report is no doubt correct. The best thing for you to do is to research. Then make your decision.
Avatar f tn I am no longer taking Evista, but while doing some research to see if I wanted to go back on it for my osteopenia, I found some references to a correlation between Evista and ovarian cancer and wondered if that could have had a bearing on my case. This discussion is related to Evista and Ovarian Cancer.
Avatar f tn I have osteoporosis, and being post menopausal and my mother having uterine cancer, the Tamoxifen was not for me. The Evista is suposed to help with osteoporosis as well as cut my chances of ibc in half. Since I am prone to hot flashes, doc prescribed Effexor, an anti-deppresant known to combat hot flashes to take along with the Evista. I hate the idea of taking a med to offset SE's caused by another med.
Avatar n tn There was no significant difference in noninvasive breast cancer rates or in overall mortality rates, but the Evista group had lower rates of invasive uterine cancer, thromboembolic events, and cataracts. (Other studies say there is no difference.) Both drugs carry risks, but can be very valuable in preventing BC in high-risk women (postmenpausal ones in the case of Evista).
Avatar n tn t know that you should be taking evista and tamoxifen together , but the evista is definitely not a estrogen receptor. And who knows, maybe with them both it will help ward off further cancer problems. Just be careful because both can cause blood clots -- ask about taking lose dose (81 mg) aspirin or 1 mg warfarin to prevent the risk of clots. P.S. I am in the middle of treatment for another recurrence -- the evista didn't prevent an ovarian recurrence....
Avatar m tn Has anyone heard of taking Tamoxifen or Evista as a possible step in breast cancer prevention? My doctor has suggested it because I'm in a high risk category. I'm not sure what to do.
Avatar n tn Hi, Hair loss in a known but not highly common side effect of Evista. If you do a search: "Evista and hair loss" you will find numerous references to this side effect. This link: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/evista/hair+loss indicates that as of Sep. 15, 2013, 17,635 people were reported to the FDA to have side effects when taking Evista. Among them, 259 people (1.47%) have Hair Loss. Time on Evista when these people had hair loss: < 1 month 4.35% 1 - 6 months 4.
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your eight years! I hate to be the one to say this but there is no such thing as "out of the woods" with cancer, I wish there was. What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body. But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.
Avatar n tn hi this is my mums condition thats why im unable to give you the names of the tablets the main cause is 4 weeks ago she started on hormone tablets for breast cancer ,this is her 1st week on radiotheraphy,at the end of the week she has started with servere pains in the groins of her legs and has been unable to get out of bed cause she cant walk and if she trys to stand up she says it feels like her insides are going to fall out.
594002 tn?1256303782 Recently had transvaginal ultrasound, came back with endometrial fluid, just had endometrial biopsy and DNC. Dr told me fluid in cavity was not a good thing to have and is a sign of uterine cancer. Well you can believe I am scared and need to wait 10 days for results. Can the fluid be cause by anything else besides cancer?
Avatar n tn Although you were dx with uterine cancer, I think you made a good choice by joining our community. There are probably many similarities with dx, tx and such. You'll find that we are pretty much a great bunch of women; I just wish we didn't have to meet this way.
492490 tn?1255405372 There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately in November 2006 that ovary turned malignant as well and I had to have it removed and due to the fact that it was my second bout of cancer, and they still to this day cannot determine whether it was a new spontaneous cancer or a recurrance (I think this is because of the previous good pathology, and the fact that there was squamous cell on the outside capsule of the ovary) I had chemotherapy and radiation treatment with it completing in July 2007. I am currently in remission.
Avatar f tn I had a mammo that shows a cluster of 4 oddly shaped calcifications, Anyone have this and it not be cancer? I am 53 with aunts with breast cancer. This discussion is related to microcalcifications.....
1850203 tn?1325253608 is there a relationship between uterine fibroids and endometrial cancer? this was so long ago, I forgot.
Avatar n tn Those are drugs that were primarily given to post chemo breast cancer patients since breast cancer is usually estrogen related. The correlation between breast cancer and estrogen related ovarian cancer is being studied, and the theory is if they work for breast cancer patients, they may work for estrogen related ovarian cancer, as well. For me, Aromasin has kept my cancer stable for the last 9 months.
Avatar f tn 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them. Just because they test for cancer does not mean everyone has it.
Avatar n tn CA125 test shows 30.5 U/ml of reading. And TV sonography suggest Uterine Fibroid. Kindly suggest what does it mean. Does my wife has ovarian cancer?
Avatar f tn And as you already know penile and oral cancer is rare. Post your results and the specific test and wording on them if you have them.
600561 tn?1326845621 Just after breakfast seems so bizarre that I concentrate on that. Sometimes in the afternoon I am tired and I do rest so that is not terribly unusual.
Avatar f tn Hopefully its not but its is as you say very treatable. If it is Cancer check out all the Cancer Hospitals in the area. We have three and they are all different. all have there good and bad points. I went with one not checking out the others and ended up switching after three chemos. I ended up looking at the other two hospitals and found a better fit. I would not have chosen the first hospital if I had see it first. They had no real chemo room it was a hallway.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer, and have already had the cancer frozen off. However I had an ultra sound done prior to the surgery to freeze off the cancer, but when I went back to my Dr for a concern that I had been on my menstrual cycle for 2 months and I was also concerned that my Mirena UAIDwas in place and had not floated into my fallopian tubes. Well, after this last ultra sound my Dr told me I had a uterine fibroid that was the size of a grape.
Avatar f tn Other than that, I have not heard of ovarian cysts increasing risk of uterine cancer (or ovarian cancer). Have you tried birth control pills to try to prevent the cysts and regulate your cycles?
Avatar n tn Why does your doctor say you have to have surgery for a uterine polyp? I just got back a report yesterday of a transvaginal ultrasound and it says I have a mass protruding into my uterine lining, suggestive of a polyp. It doesn't say how big it is and they don't say I should have a biopsy. I had my first transvaginal ultrasound in the Fall of 2006 because my internist gave me a prescription for it because I had spoting in between my period since The Fall of 2005 at age 40 and a half.
Avatar n tn The surgeon said that another surgery would increase my odds of not getting cancer, but that I did not have to have the second surgery. He also suggested that I might try Evista. I am concerned about the fact that the margin was very small. I would like some advice on these issues.
Avatar m tn I saw my gynecologist today and he said my uterus was enlarged and wants me to go for an ultrasound and endometrial stripe test to check for Uterine Fibroids. Everything I read about endometrial stripe test, says it's used to test for Uterine cancer, so now I'm really concerned. Is there anyone whose had uterine Fibroids with enlarged uterus? What were your symptoms? any advice?
