280418 tn?1306325910 t been on the pill in years). I started the pill (Yaz) this Jan. and now the migraines have really increased in frequency. I stopped the pill last night to see if they at least decrease in frequency. Does any research support an increase/onset of migraines with taking the pill? I am very tired of the migraines! Thank you in advance for any insight! PS...
Avatar n tn i am on yaz and i am supposed to start my white pills in two days..today i saw some blood in my underwear what could this mean? is this normal?
Avatar f tn Have you had your Potassium and Calcium and Vit. D levels checked? Yaz and Yasmine are not solely estrogen based and may cause elevated Potassium levels. I had low Vit. D levels and had muscle cramping and tingling from the low level. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn Hi, my girlfriend and I are both 19 years old and we have been dating for about 2 years. We decided it'd be smart if she got on birth control just because it's not worth messing everything up with a pregnancy at our age. She was taking ortho tri cyclen and everything seemed fine, but her doctor switched her over to Yaz and ever since then it's been horrible. She's always got very bad mood swings, and her sex drive is ZERO and it hurts when we do it.
Avatar f tn t know about the breastfeeding part....but when I was on the pill...Yaz gave me beautiful even clear skin..... Maybe you could ask your doctor about those.
1419937 tn?1302557849 That's why I started taking it. I don't know what's best, but I've heard bad things about Yaz (the one I'm taking). That it has twice as much estrogen than any other birth control and it will make you go crazy pretty much, have crazy emotions (in my case, crazier).
484167 tn?1210001396 ok i need some help here...i was on yaz for about 10 months when my periods started going hay-wire...like i would get a period in the middle of my cycle and not get my period while taking the"reminder pills"...my dr. gave me yasmin since i guess the level of estrogen is a little stronger...i have been taking it for over a week...i feel pregnant. my body feels just like it did when i was pregnant and i don't remember feeling this way at all when i started the yaz almost a year ago.
Avatar f tn I went off Yaz and started to notice weight gain after a few months, in about 2 years I gained a little over 40 lbs. I am absolutely miserable. I've tried dieting, exercising, and nothing has happened. I don't fit into any clothes, I hate my body and I have no idea what else to do. I had my hormone levels tested and my testosterone is a little high (45pg/ml).
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi. Estrogen (estridiol) containing pills, or birth control pills, can wreak havoc on the thyroid. When you take estrogen it interferes with the amount of thyroxine being made. Now, you have hypothyroidism. The same thing happened to me after I had just 1 shot of Depo Provera. It could be that you had some very small symptoms of becoming hypothyroid before you started taking the Yasmin. The Yasmin, could have set it off. People who have hypothyroidism usually need to take it for life.
Avatar f tn t able to pull up any of my medical records and she did no testing aside from a quick pelvic exam. So I started a new b/c Yaz. I stopped Yaz because it made me feel funny and decided to deal with it by taking loads of pain medication every time my period came. Now, the last year and a half I have been experiencing pelvic pain when I sneeze or cough, if I turn or twist a certain way, when I stretch....
Avatar n tn It can reflect any thyroid medicine you are on. I am taking yaz, so far no problems for me. It does interact with whatever medicine you are on. So just keep trying a lower dose one until you find the right one.
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar n tn They did a ton of blood work and found nothing wrong so the best advise I can give to you is just take her to a GYN and have them run test. My doctor put me on YAZ and it has made me regular and I love it! I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn By this point you probably know whether or not your girlfriend is pregnant...but if she is not and she is still having these symptoms please tell her that it is VERY likely that it is the YAZ which is causing her to have her symptoms. I began taking it about 2 weeks ago and on the second week began to feel terrible anxiety, depression, nausea, headaches, weird breathing problems (apparently caused by too much estrogen), crying all the time, etc...
Avatar f tn I had Thyroid Storm in 2002, was put on methimazole, went back down to hypo, then back up to hyper maybe twice a year since then. I do have thyroid antibodies, but fail to understand why I keep going back up to hyper. I've switched doctors a couple of times and can't seem to find anyone who is willing to do something permanent. It's kind of been a wait and see game. I've also noticed fluctuations depending on whether I'm on Yaz (estrogen) or not.
Avatar n tn Then I switched to Ortho Cyclen in hope that the higher estrogen dosage would help. It has and my face is almost clear after 3 months. However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up. What should I ask my dermatologist for next? Yaz and Desogen have also not worked out for me in the past. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I would like to hear your opinions about Yaz/Yasmin Birth Control. Have you had any side effects? Has this pill been helpful to you? I have dedicated a support group website for women and girls who have previously or currently taking Yaz/Yasmin Birth Control. Please take a moment to view webiste, YazForum and post your experience while taking this medication. We need to hear your stories to make others aware of this birth control.
976978 tn?1248769300 Would measure T3 as a free T3 to exclude possibility of binding from estrogen (even though the yaz should be out of system). This does not seem pituitary. The I-123 scan is helpful ONLY if the biochemistry shows clear hypERthyroidism. you cannot have both hyper and hypo at the same time and the symptoms of both are very non-specific so a person can have many of the symptoms (of both) and not have a thyroid problem. The TSH-R-Ab is a good idea, as would be thyroid ultrasound. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am sooo sorry to hear that you lost a fallopian tube! I haven't heard of that happening--would you tell me more? At least so I know what could happen? Seasonale is a birth control pill--like YAZ, where you don't get a period, it's just continuous estrogen & progesterone. I get severe migraines, and cramps, they think this could eliminate both. Plus, it lets the reproductive system "rest" by not producing eggs--which is a problem for me anyway, with PCOS.
1027094 tn?1327429732 Google combination birth control pills. It works three ways. It stops ovulation preventing an egg from being released and you being able to get pregnant. It changes the lining of your uterus so that it's harder for an egg to implant, and also changes your mucous. Unless you're on a birth control that does NOT contain BOTH progesterone and estrogen it is a combination pill and DOES ALL THREE.
1416408 tn?1282230588 It depends how your body reacts to it. I can't handle hormones and estrogen so when I tried yaz and mirena (the iud) I gained weight. I'm on the progesterone only pill and have lost 25 lbs.
Avatar n tn Here is my question: 3 mos before I got married I went on the bcp, Yaz. Before I took the pill, my whole life, I had a high sexual drive and arousal was not a problem. But after being on the bcp 2 mos, I noticed that I didn't want sex at all. By the time we got married, it was a big problem - sex is painful all the time, and even if I feel love for my husband, which I do, my body does not respond at all!!!
