Avatar n tn My 20 yr old daughter is suffering from daily headaches. They sound like migrains to me. Our family Dr. suggested that she discontinue her birth control pill which contains 35 mcg. estrogen. The head aches occur during her period and the pill days, too. Is there a birth control pill that does not cause migrains? She was on the 25 mcg "low" estrogen pill, but she had an ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn Headaches in women, particularly migraines, have been related to changes in the levels of the female hormone estrogen during a woman's menstrual cycle. Estrogen levels drop immediately before the start of the menstrual flow. Premenstrual migraines regularly occur during or after the time when the female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, decrease to their lowest levels.
Avatar m tn m not a doctor and I have no experience with medicine, but from what I have researched online about the hormones that control your menstrual cycle, and from my experience taking birth control, you could be having symptoms of estrogen dominance as withdrawal from taking birth control. It is easy enough from the North American diet for the body to produce more estrogen than it does progesterone. Both of these hormones need to be in your body for you to get your period.
Avatar f tn I had them too around that time. My doctor said it could also be estrogen headaches. Mine only lasted 2 weeks and I haven't had them since. Hopefully yours go away soon!
405614 tn?1329144114 Are the headaches the main reason that you are feeling icky? I haven't had a period in 15 years, however, I can tell you that migraine headaches are effected by fluctuations in hormones. I went to a neurologist that only specialized in headaches a few years ago, because I was having them almost daily. I cut the caffeine out of my diet and made a few other dietary changes, which really helped. Also, I was put on a higher dose of the beta blocker I was taking.
Avatar f tn But the combo is supposed to be good for migraines, and it works for me when I get estrogen-triggered headaches (which migraines are supposed to be also).
Avatar n tn Several of my friends after menopause said that taking estrogen replacement helped or completely stopped their headaches. But I've heard it can go either way. I never got any estrogen in my system from the estradiol gel. You should instead wear an estrogen patch. And your depression is very likely from the lack of estrogen. Don't mess around with depression. It is tied to a number of physical diseases, such as osteoporosis.
1955360 tn?1329356724 I'm 10 weeks pregrant and it seem like everyday I'm having headaches that are out this world. I got to bed with a headache and wake up with a headache. Is there anyone else dealing with this same problem? Are there any suggestions to anything I need to change in my diet or day to day activities.
Avatar f tn she said the reason why she put me on birth control instead of regular estrogen is because i havent had a period in a year and she wants the withdrawal bleed. she said that with estrogen I will eventually have a withdrawal bleed but it will not induce it. She said if she were to put me on estrogen I would have to take progesterone simultaneously. So I guess i will finish the last patch that i am wearing i take it off on Monday and hopefully i will have the withdrawal bleed.
Avatar n tn Common causes are tension, migraine, eye strain, dehydration, low blood sugar, hypermastication and sinusitis. A large percentage of headaches among women are caused by ever-fluctuating estrogen during menstrual years. This can occur prior to, or even during midcycle menstruation. Treatment of an uncomplicated headache is usually symptomatic with over-the-counter painkillers. However, if it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor.
310089 tn?1232481423 I also do not believe that higher estrogen levels is indicative of a girl baby. The headaches do not affect all pregnancies as most of us know that one pregnancy to another can be very different regardless of the sex. My headaches lasted a couple weeks and now they are gone. I used Tylenol to get through them but nothing else really helped. I had an ultrasound at 15 weeks and was unable to tell the sex. I was so hoping to find out something but didn't. I am now hoping for next month.
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels have reached their peak in pregnancy and usually cause lots of headaches. They have the same symptoms as a sinus headache as the estrogen can cause swelling in the nasal cavities.
Avatar f tn Mine have been bothering me for 2 months now on and off . Is it normal ? I never have headaches like this before my pregnancy . When Will it end ?
266539 tn?1281402152 t know brands but I took it while I was breastfeeding because estrogen can affect milk supply. It has a slightly higher failure rate than the estrogen/progesterone pill, but is still highly effective if taken at the same time every day. Condoms are another option.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced any severe headaches or headache like pain during the last trimester? I'm 32W4D and I've been having this real bad headache since yesterday afternoon. It's like a real bad throbbing pain on my temples and also the base of my skull hurts so bad. If I lay down on either side, it starts to hurt. If I lay facing up towards the ceiling that's even worse. I couldn't sleep last night because the pain was waking me up. Has anyone else had this?
Avatar n tn I have been taking estrogen only hormones (enjuvia) and am now learning more and think i may also need progesterone. My real question is can a hormone imbalance be causing my HEADACHES? I have been to 3 ENT drs. a neurologist and on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Once i went off the antibiotic i felt okay for 1 1/2 weeks and now my HEADACHE is back.I have never had anything like this before. I was also having leg cramps after my surgery and my dr. told me to take calcium.
Avatar f tn Hi Sweetpea, I am sorry to hear about your headaches. Ohio is probably correct. These HA are probably due to some withdrawal symptoms from the codeine. Have you tried just taking some tylenol to ease the headaches or another OTC pain reliever? In a few days to a week you should be feeling better. If not please check with your PCP. If they become worse you should seek immediate medical care, including a trip to Urgent Care or ER. Please let us know how you are doing.
1878896 tn?1320583569 Are they possibly allergy related? My friend had unknown of allergies for years before finding out she was severely allergic to almost 40 common allergens. Hormonal imbalances can also cause headaches- are you taking any birth control, other hormone medications, or is there a possibility that you're pregnant?
1461398 tn?1285853166 i have been having headaches everyday since i was 2 years old. i use to get shots for them but the doctors always said i would grow out of them and that they are genetic. but here it is like 24 years later and i still have them everyday. i had a ct scan like around march but they found nothing. does anyone have any idea what going on with my head?!!
Avatar f tn My headaches were from caffeine withdrawal and hormones..... mostly hormones tho. My doctor recommended when you get a headache take Extra strength Tylenol and drink a can of coke with it. The combo of the two are seriously miracles! Good luck hun!
Avatar f tn Are headaches a normal part of withdrawal? I have a wicked headache. I took 2 Advil a little earlier but its still aching.
Avatar n tn Anyone else get wicked headaches during hyrdo withdrawal, and did anything work to ease them? I've had a constant headache for three solid days with no let up.
Avatar n tn I started having slight headaches on the right side of my head, in the very beginning of April 08. They started out "slight" but then quickly became consistant and all day long and every day. They are not severe, about a 1 to 4 on a scale of 10, but each day is different, however, there is never a day that the right side of my head doesn't hurt to some degree. Sometimes it is a short sharp intermitten pain and other times my right side of my head just hurts.
