5143317 tn?1383747820 I had my vitamin d tested about 2 months ago and my level was 36ng/l with a range of 30-100. I've been having crazy hypothyroid like symptoms for months. Weight gain, inability to lose weight, depression, mood swings, inability to control my emotions, low sex drive, dry skin, not sleeping good, etc. Could the low end vitamin D be causing the symptoms? I've had cortisol, various hormones and all thyroid tests, everything is normal.
773214 tn?1295135069 I have been getting really bad headaches usually prior to AF and during and I asked my chiropractor about this today (he is also a nutritionalist) and he recommended increasing Calcium D Glucarate in my diet but also as a supplement. It is found in vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower. The purpose I guess is to remove the excess estrogen that might be in your system.
Avatar n tn However, I did read that there is a higher risk for thyroid issues which might be hidden, accelerated or misdiagnosed as an estrogen or vitamin d deficiency. I know Vitamin D does interact with the thyroid but I'm unsure of the interaction with Estrogen. If you are worried about one of these possible deficiencies definitely make sure to have the doctors test for thyroid disorders too.
Avatar f tn first of all i have vitamin d deficiency too i just had blood work done and i started using vitamin d supplements that i got from the pharmacy which i dont think makes a difference right now but my doctor said it might take time. my only problem really is dizziness and yea you might be the way you arebecause of it but it might be anxiety too making you feel worse than you should be maybe go to another doctor get better soon wish i could help more!
Avatar n tn ve had the battery of tests done for thyroid, anemia, RA. They all came back negative with the exception of a Vitamin D deficiency. My vitamin D level is 14. Could it cause all these problems? I was told to buy some Caltrate and start taking that. But from what I've seen I don't know if this is the right route to take. Maybe I should see an endocrinologist? I also have to go for an MRI of the head sometime soon.
12182312 tn?1427683956 Hmmm. The degree of vitamin D (and calcium) deficiency is significantly associated with the degree and severity of hypothyroidism. The possible explanations for low vitamin D levels with hypothyroidism: poor absorption of vitamin D from the intestine or the body may not activate vitamin D properly. Current recommended vitamin D levels for optimal health that I have read from various studies: 40 to 60 ng/mL (100-150 nmol/L) year round.
Avatar n tn I am extremely depressed and am suffering with hypothyroidism, low testosterone, too much estrogen, high cholesterol and low Vitamin D what is wrong with me? I originally thought that everything here is linked to depression from stress and anxiety so I started taking Lexapro for the depression. But my wife thinks that maybe all of these things are linked to a health issue. About 11 months ago I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and low thyroid, so I am taking red rice yeast and .
Avatar m tn Would repeat 24 hour urine calcium, check sprue antibodies (screen for celiac sprue which is common cause of calcium/vit D malabsorption), look at 25-OH-D and 1,25-OH2-D (ie both vitamin D's). The negative nuclear scan adds nothing -- these are negative in up to 50% of patients with proven primary HPTH. The ultrasound creates a confusing picture -- ie, tough (by your description) to sort out if there is a parathyroid adenoma given all the cysts.
Avatar m tn Have your doctor do a blood test to see if you're deficient in any vitamins or minerals. And have your thyroid checked. Pristiq could also be some of the problem. 5 hours sleep NOT GOOD!!
Avatar f tn m reading to balance my sex hormones I can take vitamin d, vitamin b and fish oil. And there is also an estrogen dominance diet that I am trying to do as well. I can't tell what is the best way to cure it? It's been months of having this.
Avatar f tn Check your vitamin D levels with 25OH vitamin D blood test. Low D and low magnesium cause cause insomnia, anxiety, depression, fatigue, dizziness, body pain, headaches, etc. You want you D levels above 50ng/mL.
Avatar f tn I have heard Soo many different things....Age, having flu while pregnant, not enough vitamin D, too much testosterone in embryonic fluid etc. Husband is 50 and I am 43. This is our first baby...ever. I am taking vitamin D, and drink soy milk 2-3 times a week, eat some edamame soy beans 2 times a week to boost a little estrogen in womb. Got flu shot....don't know if it will help odds...It really is in God's hands and I will live the gift god gives us no matterwhat!
Avatar n tn Femara is used in estrogen receptor positive breast cancers to prevent cancer recurrence. It decreases the amount of estrogen in the body. Estrogen protects bone strength and if estrogen levels fall then there are increased chances of osteoporosis which can result in fractures. So calcium supplements are prescribed along with femara. There are few studies that do suggest that calcium supplements increase the risk of heart attacks. Discuss it with your doctor.
Avatar n tn is there a natural vitamin that can be taken to help with change of life symptoms after a hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn There are several variables that affect the response to thyroid hormone, including Vitamin D and ferritin. I noted that your D was terribly low. It should be at least 50 ng/mL. You also need to be tested for ferritin and then supplement as needed to optimize. Ferritin should be at least 100. So you have a double whammy going: inadequate thyroid hormone levels plus low Vitamin D (and I expect also low ferritin). I agree that the weight is a symptom, not the cause.
