Avatar m tn Urinary incontinence may be caused by an underdeveloped urinary system or may arise as a part of the aging process. Estrogen deficiency is the most common cause of incontinence in spayed female dogs, and may result in weakened muscles in the bladder and sphincter causing urine leakage) **** We give our Dobi PROIN, but there's a couple out there.
Avatar m tn In a study of 226 spayed female dogs, a greater percentage of dogs treated with Incurin improved compared to dogs treated with placebo. Incurin was shown to be effective for the control of estrogen-responsive urinary incontinence in spayed female dogs 1 year and older." Hope this is helpful.
Avatar n tn however, at that age also consider urinary incontinence due to decreasing estrogen levels. after ruling out bladder infection/ stones/ metabolic problems your vet may want to try estrogen supplement the arthritis can be eased with new non-steroidal meds from your vet. reduce her weight and try some physical therapy on the affected joints.
Avatar f tn Completely different medications are needed to treat urinary incontinence such as estrogen supplements or products like Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) which is also labelled as Proin.
Avatar f tn If the phenylpropanolamine (PPA) was working but the incontinence returned, hormonally responsive urinary incontinence is still the most likely issue. Proin dosage in dogs is 0.4-0.8mg/pound every 12 hours or twice a day. Some dogs need estrogen replacement therapy. Usually it is possible to use low enough dosages that adverse side effects are unlikely. We never encountered any adverse issues using DES which is also called diethylstilbestrol (DES) for incontinence.

She has frequent urgent need to urinate in day and at night with no pain, bleeding or discomfort. normal color. She has been on Detrol and prior Ditropan, neither helps at all. She has no trouble emptying bladder and does have quite a bit of urine when she goes to bathroom. There is mild incontinence. She is home and independent with good recovery from the stroke.
Avatar f tn When estrogen levels diminish, your vaginal tissues may lose lubrication and elasticity, making intercourse painful. Low estrogen levels may also leave you more vulnerable to urinary or vaginal infections. Loss of tissue tone may contribute to urinary incontinence. Decreasing fertility. As ovulation becomes irregular, your ability to conceive decreases. However, as long as you're having periods, pregnancy remains a possibility.

664777 tn?1231981676 Chiari in a mild form can also produce symptoms that a larger herniation creates....sometimes the larger herniations do not produce symptoms for years! Chiari 0 is a relativly a newer term...there is no herniation...but if u have copies of ur MRI u can see the crowding....there r areas inside that should have spaces btwn...the crowding causes the CF not to flow as it should and causes headaches and other chiari symptoms.....

One of our family friends had told us that physiotherapy. Is a good treatment method of a woman with stress urinary incontinence. Is it applicable for an aged woman? What is this treatment all about? Avatar f tn Both had very low counts of bacteria. No physical cause has been found but I am post menopause and have problems with urinary incontinence so wear pads 24 hours a day. I'm 63 and do not take / use estrogen creams or replacement therapy. NOT sexually active for 5 or more years. Doctor gave me 10 days of Suprax this second time. Will that rid my intestines of the KP? 739070 tn?1338603402 HI All, I received this update on one of the medical sites I use and thought there might be some interest. Botox has been used off-label for urinary incontinence but it is FDA approved which may help those whose insurance won't pay for off-label use of drugs. Avatar n tn If the inappropriate urination is not due to a urinary tract infection, or other physical problem, than it is behavioral, obviously. Is she also defecating inappropriately also? Your cat really sounds like a tough character! It sounds as if you must try some behavioural modification on your cat, even if it means following your cat around constantly with a squirt bottle and give the cat a squirt in the face every time your dog is bullied. This will require a bit of work on your part.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).

It can be due to overtaking the fluids at night, urge incontinence, inappropriate bladder contractions, constipation, infection ,a stone in the bladder, post menopause( due to thinning of tissue due to decreased estrogen) and use of diuretics ("water pills").If it is the first episode of bed wetting then you should go to bed without a full bladder. But if the repeat happens, then please get it evaluated from a urologist.
Avatar f tn Ever since the Ureteroscopy I have had pretty bad stress urinary incontinence. Is this a normal side effect of either procedure?? Is this a permanent side effect?? Is there anything non surgical I can do to help the incontinence? I've been doing Kegel exercises religiously since October with no results. It's been 6 months of urinary incontinence.
Avatar f tn Anyone, at any age, who suffers urinary incontinence or leaks urine. While the exercise mainly helps those with stress urinary incontinence, it can also help those with another common type, urge incontinence from overactive bladder. With urge incontinence, you have a sudden urge to urinate and don't always make it to the bathroom. Men with urinary incontinence problems can do Kegel exercises, too.
Avatar f tn Sometimes no symptoms are noticed because they can be so vague, or can easily be explained away by other causes, such as menstrual problems, fatigue, approaching menopause. Common symptoms many of us had are bloating, feeling full in the stomach, urinary frequency, back pain, bowel problems, abdominal discomfort or pain....... If you don't feel right, go for a good gyn check-up and express your concerns. Be persistant.
