Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 37 yr old male and who has suffered with anxiety for many years. About 2 years ago, I discontinued taking Lexapro (took for about 8 - 10 years) and have been debating taking it again to help with my anxiety. Last year I was diagnosed with an IRBBB/Incomplete Right Brundle Branch Block. I am concerned about Lexapro and it's cardiovascular side effects, especially QT Prolongation which is listed as a potential side effect.
Avatar m tn t take hrt until you know for sure that your cancer was not estrogen receptive. That could be such a costly mistake. After a year of being in remission, I too had such a tough time with hot flashes and mood swings, so I took estadil and soon my marker went up, Come to find out my cancer was not tested for estrogen sensitivity. So please make sure.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
Avatar f tn I asked my oncologist who said it was a side effect of the chemo. My doc seems to think that it is a side effect of tamoxifen. After putting on at least 20 lbs during my chemo, not eating the carbs seemed to have helped me lose at least 10 - 15 lbs. I still have a tough time eating carb foods, which of course I used to love eating! I still get very tired.
Avatar m tn This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too. Other side effects include loss of muscle tone, a decrease in body hair, shrinking testes, depression, fatigue, lower energy levels, poor memory, low stress tolerance, an ncrease in fat around the mid-section (belly fat) and erectile dysfunction. Elevated estrogen levels really do cause men to look and somewhat act more like women and less like men.
Avatar f tn Oral chemo meds are very effective and have convenience of given at home when compared to IV chemo. They do also have side effects though but that will vary on which option she is placed on. If she is working, oral at home is much more convenient as she won't have to miss work for appointments or administration of the IV. It helps keep up the normal routine which many desire. With regards to side effects, daily oral meds for many have the result of being less severe.
Avatar n tn Are there any side effects with this disease other than the outbreaks? I'm having an issue with vaginal lubrication and I was diagnosed 3 years ago. And I'm wondering if this virus could be the reason.
1178023 tn?1293733628 just in case that one in a million person develops a blood clot. As a matter of fact, most birth control pill (which are estrogen based) are much worse than progesterone. And the mini pill, which is the one they usually recommend if you do have clotting issues, is progesterone based. By the way, it also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, yet it is very common to take it during the first trimester...it could even prevent a miscarriage.
Avatar f tn If you go to chemocare.com you can read all the side effects of Tamoxifen. What you mention are all listed there. The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Regards .....
216278 tn?1308861082 m on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. Best of luck!
282955 tn?1394730951 Hey, tea_berries! I just took my very first clomid pill today (a.m.) and I haven't noticed any side effects so far. I don't think a lack of side effects means they're not working. It probably just depends on how your body reacts to the hormones. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn Hence there are other causes than taking alcohol that can make a person appear drunk. Please consult a doctor as a comprehensive investigation is required to reach a diagnosis. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.

Avatar m tn Systemic estrogen therapy — by pill, patch or gel — can have a positive effect on brain function and mood factors that affect sexual response. Local estrogen therapy — in the form of a vaginal cream or a slow-releasing suppository or ring that you place in your vagina — can increase blood flow to the vagina and help improve desire. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe a combination of estrogen and progesterone.
Avatar m tn It is usually due to an abnormal kidney function, abnormal liver function, due to side effects of drugs, hormonal problems, certain tumors which secrete hormones etc. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Take another doctor’s opinion or get a referral for an Internal medicine specialist. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
503702 tn?1276176714 I tried Femara for 3 months and couldn't handle the side effects. So stiff I couldn't get up out of a chair without help, etc. I switched to Aromasin, the newest of the aromatase inhibitors. Still bad side effects. My chiropractor suggested having my estrogen blood levels tested, and trying an experiment. Take Aromasin every other day for a few months, and see if it lowers my blood estrogen level enough. My blood estrogen level (estradiol) is now a *negative* 20!
Avatar n tn Hi. How old are you? Are you post-menopausal? Exemestane (Aromasin) and similar drugs called aromatase inhibitors, will only work with women who have already undergone menopause. If you're in the reproductive age group, Tamoxifen is still your primary option for hormonal treatment.
Avatar n tn t enough for me to suffer the side effects. Each woman is different, though. Other women obtain a very high risk reduction rate by taking hormone-suppressors - or have a lower tolerance for risk in general and see even a 3% reduction as valuable enough to endure the significant side effects. There is a lot of pressure to take hormone-suppressors and many articles around - a lot of it written by so called experts and placed through publicity channels in the mainstream media.
Avatar n tn I had a medically induced menopause..horrible side effects untill i went on hrt..my ovaries where taken also thougth.. Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with DCIS (estrogen positive , had a lumpectomy, had radiation and is now taking tomixifen. I wanted to know how harmful eating foods with soy in it,, i am getting so many different answers to this question.
Avatar n tn I do not know about this medication, or the possible side effects of it. I too am very wary of medications, especially if you consider that they say the brains of those on the spectrum are wired up differently. Also within my close family I have a number of people who react severely to medications and they are not even on the spectrum. As alot of the behaviour you are mentioning is sensory based I would recommend you read an article in Autism Today by a woman called Olga Bogdashina.
1129232 tn?1360800358 I also am breaking out all over my face like crazy. Thinking this is also a side effect but maybe it's also a side effect from teh estrogen i'm taking??? i woke up with literally a bazillion pimples all over my face. gosh i really hope i get a BFP this month. Avatar m tn https://www.drugs.com/amlodipine.html. Vision issues are considered rare. Here is a comprehensive list of side effects: https://www.drugs.com/sfx/amlodipine-side-effects.html. It also lists red, irritated eyes as a side effect. I think I'd let your doctor know you are having watery eyes.
377493 tn?1356502149 meds, not any of the FSH drugs (the ones that stimulates the ovaries to produce eggs). I would not expect any side effects from the lupron, b/c or estrogen (and just FYI, most don't have any major side effects from the FSH either. Personally, I felt totally normal throughout the entire process). The only medication you might have a slight reaction to is the progesterone, but that won't be started until right around transfer.
Avatar f tn I think up to 12 weeks. Keep in mind that they have to disclose possible side effects. All these fertility drugs have crazy side effects......why is it that this is the only one noticed.??
