Avatar m tn The plant steroids in saw palmetto act on progesterone receptors, that causes a reduction in estrogen levels. According to the results of a large international trial published in the "Journal of Clinical Oncology" in April 2011, estrogen and progesterone receptor status is a predictive marker of early breast cancer and post-treatment relapse. As you get older your hormone levels decrease, and your fat cells in your body increases.
Avatar n tn However, 11 years ago, I underwent a complete hysterectomy and had been on HRT which I immediately discontinued at the time of diagnosis of breast cancer. My question is , if I am incapable of producing ovarian estrogen and I do not take any form of HRT is it necessary to continue to take tamoxifen? Have there been studies of women who had estrogen positive breast cancer while on HRT due to hysterectomy and stopped their source of estrogen.
Avatar f tn With it, it has been found that there is a reduction in the rate of relapse of the original cancer, and also a 50% reduction in the risk of developing a new estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer. (Although you had bilateral mastectomies, there can still be at least some remaining breast tissue.
Avatar f tn Brown spotting can happen at any point in your cycle and it really doesn't mean you are pregnant every time- it could mean ovulation, pregnancy, and usually is "old blood" and a result in a reduction of estrogen. If you suspect a pregnancy- wait until your next period is due and take a test to verify.
Avatar f tn Hi, Along with other symptoms, women may experience vaginal thinning or vaginal atrophy associated with the reduction of estrogen that results from menopause or related to Tamoxifen and the AIs. This can cause irritation, pain, or even vulvar or vaginal tearing when attempting intercourse. This is certainly an important issue, and one which severely impacts the quality of life of many women, including BC survivors!
Avatar n tn Hi there, Oral contraceptives and birth control pills contain estrogen. There may be an initial increase in hair growth or reduction in hair loss experienced by few women when they start taking birth control pills or estrogen replacement pills. Since you have been taking it continuously estrogen levels will stabilize and the natural hair growth cycle might be restored. Long term use of hormonal contraceptives should be discouraged.
Avatar n tn Treatment of LCIS is focused on risk reduction for development of cancer and usually falls into one of 3 categories; careful observation, medications to decrease estrogen, or some women might opt for surgery to remove the breasts (prophylactic mastectomy). Decisions are made after discussion and weighing of risks and benefits for the individual patient.
Avatar f tn I assume this is based on the fairly well established observation that pregnant women often (though certainly not always) experience a reduction in or absence of MS symptoms which seem to return, sometimes intensely, after delivery. As contraceptive pills work by suppressing ovulation (in effect making the body think it's already pregnant), this may be where he's coming from. But... this is a GP. He is not a neurologist, much less an MS specialist.
655897 tn?1328018445 My estrogen level is over 2000. I am on day 11 of my Gonal F shot and will take at least one more shot tomorrow on day 12. My IUi will probably be on Wednesday. Does this estrogen level seem really high to anyone? For those of you who have gotten hyperstimulated, what was your level close to the time of the trigger shot or IUI? I have to go in again tomorrow for u/s and b/w.
Avatar f tn The testosterone/estrogen/progesterone levels off will be more of a symptom of hairloss then thyroid - BUT thyroid abnormalities will off kilter those labs too making it a duo issue to be treated.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a fungal skin infection, however, other underlying causes should be ruled out also. Vitamin D deficiency, dehydration, estrogen dominance thyroid dysfunction and other imbalances should be considered. If you have estrogen dominance you may benefit more from using a cream with bioidentical progesterone vs low dose BC, if you were taking them for endometriosis. BC could be contributing to thyroid dysfunction. What exactly is your BC med?
Avatar n tn I have no emotional attachment to my breasts (and actually hate them because they are too large and painful). I was planning on breast reduction surgery prior to this diagnosis (hoping to go from DD+ to B), but now I'm really interested in Bilateral Mastectomy (perhaps skin-sparing or nipple-sparing, if appropriate) with reconstruction. I also have fibrocystic breast disease, have lots of "lumps and bumps" in my breasts, have had several other biopsies (fibroadenomas).
Avatar f tn I am freaking out. It seems like I ovulated. I went to the doctor the morning of 8/7/15 .. Estrogen levels were great.. Follicles were suppressed and resting got the go ahead to start my meds then bam out of no where AF showed up !!! What is going on .. Help anyone? I have a doctors appointment on Monday and the office is closed and I am going crazy! Anyone have a clue as to what might be happening?
Avatar n tn without tamoxfen 16. Simple masectomy ; w /reconstruction and reduction of other breast; good health, non smoker, no risk factors, premen., 49 yrs old., blood test for ovarian cancer (125) 2%. Internal ultrasound of uterus neg; pap neg. I have chosen not to take the tamoxofen because of risk factors associated w/ drug. I feel w/ the masectomy instead of the Lumpectomy was aggressive enough. I think with these great scores and low risk factors and a reduction w/ other breast..
Avatar n tn Hello. I am taking Arimidex (dx May 2007, IDC, 1 cm., grade 3, negative lymph nodes; had lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy, chemo, radiation; I was 54 and perimenopausal at time of dx and chemo put me in menopause.) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice.
Avatar f tn I just cancelled my first IUI myself due to hubby and I feeling I had way too many mature follicles and reduction is not an option for us so the risk was just too high for us. My doctor said she was fine with how many I had yesterday to proceed. I am 33 years old and I had 4 follicles at 19, 1 at 18, 2 at 17, 1 at 16, 1 at 10, 1 at 9, and 1 at 8 so all in all 8 mature follicles. My estrogen was 2031.
Avatar m tn 15 - 20 Expect a more marked reduction in response to stimulation and usually a further reduction in embryo quality. Low live birth rates. Antral follicle count is an important variable. Over 20 This is pretty much a "no go" level in our center. Very poor (or no) response to stimulation. "No go" levels should be individualized for the particular lab assay and IVF center.
Avatar n tn Toprol (beta blockers) Inhibit healthy levels of the catecholamine hormones (epinephrine and nor-epinephrine) Adrenalin. Thus they inhibit good estrogen, allowing the bad estrogen to possibly promote cancer. The following is from www.vrp.com read the whole artical under (DIM). If you have a-fib and on a beta blocker I would hesitate to supplement with (dim). Any increase in Adrenalin could cause a-fib.
1743133 tn?1311182382 When she took into account other factors, such as education level, drinking of alcohol, and hormone therapy use, she found a 57% reduction in risk for cancers known as estrogen-receptor negative cancers. This type of breast cancer is less likely to respond to hormone therapy than estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer. However, a U.S. expert warns that the new finding about reduction in risk for ER-negative breast cancer could be due to chance.
1129232 tn?1360800358 t get pregnant this month we have to go back to clomid (and then do menapur as well) and work on the lining with estrogen although I took estrogen last time but it didn't really help much. I'm just feeling a little upset about this cycle. I know i have 2 follies but last time i had 4 and STILL did not get pregnant.
1766773 tn?1313668171 Is the drastic reduction in female homornes related. I am post menopausal and that seem to lessen my passion for passion. But six months since my surgury and I feel that my remaining sex organs are just numb and I have no sexual responses to any thing. Its a weird and dissapointing feeling. What can be done to bring back a normal sex life and does my body still produce estrogen and progestron?
Avatar m tn Since FSH level is normal, I feel that in your case low testosterone is affecting the sperm production. Testosterone may be low due high estrogen level, which you have not yet measured. Some aromatise inhibitor drugs should be able to reduce estrogen and increase testo and in turn may help spermatogenesis. I always felt that in your case reduction of weight should finally solve all problems. You should consult a good fertility clinic and they should be able to find a solution to your problem.
Avatar f tn CT shows reduction of the main tumor by about half, metastasis in liver (reduced a little), lungs, limfoid node in groin enlarged. What is the best way forward for me? Would be grateful for advise.
993856 tn?1249525508 Dr called and said to cancel, my estrogen was 1600 and he said the chances of more than having 2 babies is too high, plus the risk of birth defects and cerebral palsy. I would not mind twins, but what is the real chance of ending up like octomom? I was thinking to try to get pregnant still naturally, but the nurse said no sex. What are some of your thoughts? Do all the eggs really ovulate and what’s the chance of them meeting with the sperm? Please help, I am confused.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar m tn All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
587083 tn?1327120262 With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause. After my diagnosis of breast cancer (estrogen positive) my oncologist recommended I avoid soy products because even the weak phytoestrogens may stimulate cancer cells. Research is not conclusive but better to be safe. As the addage goes, 'all things in moderation.
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
