Avatar f tn Some women complain of gaining weight due to water retention when they take estrogen. I have not personally experienced that. But many women gain weight after hysterectomy too because it changes metabolism even when the ovaries are not removed. How is the lower dose working out?
Avatar n tn My recovery went well, except that my stomach muscles were sore (I had an open bikini cut), but now my incision no longer hurts. My concern is that I have been placed on the estrogen patch since one week after the surgery. I started having headaches, pains under my arms, and my feet started swelling more than usual. The doctor asked me to cut the patch in half, still changing it twice a week.
Avatar f tn Can a normal sized cyst on one overy cause a distended stomach and weight gain?
Avatar f tn My cholesterol is 196 range is below 200, I have severe osteopenia, I am cold all the time, weight gain, unable to lose weight, fogginess, unable to focus, memory loss, slight depression, no drive or ambition, severe dry skin. My estrogen was very low - I finally went to an endocrinologist today and I feel like still no answers? she wants to put me on a low dosage of estrogen patch and wellbuterin?
Avatar f tn Vliet addresses the weight and body shape issue, too, and how to help maintain a realistic body weight. Most of the shift is due to the estrogen. Estrogen will not cause weight gain..it is the loss of estrogen that causes much of this. Yeah, I wouldn't want you to try the bodyrolling massage for adhesions since it sounds like you are dealing with something different.

Avatar f tn It could be the estrogen, but in my experience estrogen doesn't make you fat. For me, it wasn't until the progesterone that I felt bloated. It could be stress, making you eat, too.
1651832 tn?1301690605 Thanks so much Mary. I appreciate all the information! I will definitely check out your profile and look at the book you're mentioning as I really want to gain as much information as I can. I have to say that I'm concerned about the possible weight gain that can happen. I've been struggling with my weight the last couple of years (I never had a problem...well not more than 5-10 lbs) with my weight before. And now I'm about 30 lbs overweight.
Avatar m tn Also to mention that a weight gain of so much weight also can be a cause of a heightening of the hot flushes. Fat stores estrogen and it's believed that estrogen is partially to blame for the hot flushes. There often isn't enough progesterone in the body to offset the extra estrogen and very often, doctors will make the mistake of giving estrogen when the real problem is a lack of progestrone.
Avatar f tn (depression, facial hair growth, acne, high cholesterol, high insulin, weight gain upper body, too much testosterone, breast cysts and probably ovarian cysts). I lost 100 pounds from a gastric bypass but am still about 50 pounds overweight. Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery.
Avatar f tn so can anybody tell me if it is common to gain weight after hysterectomy or is that just depending on the medicine you're given for hormones
Avatar f tn Been on prozac since March dr messed with dose till finally by late June i went to 50 mg...im also on wellbutrin, well weight gain and other problems dr said to cut back on prozac 10 mg a week, been doing that im down to 30 mg but i have bad depression like when i first began prozac,i was added a estrogen patch this past friday,i have no energy and im tired all the time..
Avatar f tn Higher doses of estrogen in birth control pills is known to cause weight gain in women due to fluid retention. Get your estrogen levels checked. For weight loss, apart from diet control, indulge in physical exercise daily for which you can even join a gym. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
4744855 tn?1358656623 Unfortunately, we cannot predict what a certain type of birth control will do for you. Some people can gain/lose weight on any given pill, patch, shot, etc. It depends on your genetic make-up. The nice thing about the patch and the pill, however, is that if one is causing undesired side effects, you can stop use and talk to your doctor about switching to something else that might not. I would definitely talk to your doctor at any rate.
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
408163 tn?1242949501 Hey Guys, I have to weigh in here, too. And, as I said in my post on Weight gain (sorry... I meant my response)... I had a Very Bad experience, too, with the HERS foundation. Honestly, thanks to your post, Yzf, I will always clarify what I am saying when I recommend HerPlace ... not to be confused with the HERS foundation. No one would ever speak to me again on this site. I totally agree with you ... the sense is that many of the women on that site do not want to be helped.
Avatar f tn A lot of weight?
Avatar f tn d suggest that if your weight is lower than healthy then weight gain might stable out your emotions. However, I understand if this is not possible as weight gain can be hard for metabolic reasons etc. Again, I think seeing a doctor would be the best opinion, emotions can change for a whole host of reasons they're not always hormone related so it's best to be sure before making any changes. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn i lived in portland for a year and then moved to fall creek outside of Eugene for three years. I find that Drs are much more willing to listen to me on the west coast. There are also many more NDs out there which I also prefer. I've been off the t3 since wednesday and i have cut my patches in half (dr approved). I feel much better. It was just too much for me. Maybe I can work my way up to one patch. It will be interesting to see if I gain weight now that I'm off t3.
Avatar f tn I never had any bad symptoms with it, no weight gain, no mood swings or any of that. I could also make my period when i wanted it and my periods were perfect and on time. The pill is no good if you cant remember to take it, please DO NOT take the shot, i was going to, i even bought the stuff and was going to go get it and i decided to do research. Alot of women actually have become sterile including i found out two friends of mine.
Avatar f tn Does everyone gain weight with Hashimotos and hypothyroid. It is so depressing. I am thinking on going on WW or Nutrisystem, but will I lose weight if my thyroid is still screwed up? I have low motility too when it comes to digestion too. Took the sitz test and an average person can poop out the beads in 2 days and it took 7 for me. What have other done? I am frustrated!
