178345 tn?1242536246 Elizabeth Vliet comes along (google for her website) and says that women without Ovaries cannot utilize Progesterone well ( Progesterone was a lifesaver for me years ago, but in retrospect, it might be that I needed more estrogen and either the progesterone turned into estrogen .... a theory many hormone experts adhere to.... or it was just that the receptor cells for estrogen were not open...).
Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
Avatar f tn all connects with the Progesterone and estrogen in the body... also there is evidence that all of the hormones (or pseudohormones) used in products these days has messed up our systems to some extent.... Off to dinner.
Avatar f tn I am on 3 pills of estrace a day and a Vivelle patch every other day. Have been on it for 2 weeks now, gained about 5 lbs and go in this Friday for the transfer. I will stay on the meds til Aug. 15th, which is the date of the blood test to see if I am pregnant, then if it is a positive, I will be on it for 8 more weeks. Yikes, didn't expect to gain even more. Anyone else in this situation?
Avatar f tn I remember that prior to starting treatment in Sept 09, I read somewhere that being post menopause would be a negative strike against me but I still opted to NOT take estrogen. I have been in surgical menopause since 1996, I took estrogen for 10 years and then quit because of the increased chance of breast cancer after taking estrogen so many years. I finished treatment (without taking estrogen since 2006) and I achieved SVR.
Avatar f tn I have a uterus in tact I was prescribed combined hrt progesterone and estrogen estarlis patches. Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar f tn Had my first blood test and my progesterone is 84 and estrogen at 47. I was told estrogen is low, to increase from 1 estrogen patch to 3 and I'm freaking out wondering if this will affect the outcome of things. During the 2WW I've had mild cramps and other minimal symptoms and wonder if what I'm feeling or not is a good/bad sign. Anyone with similar numbers? Do you know if low estrogen levels affect the implantation process?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Good luck to all!!
Avatar f tn Hello, Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cyst, cervical malignancy, fibroids and endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone andthyroid hormone imbalance. Your doctor may consider tests like thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. I agree with your doctor get a D+C and biopsy done.
Avatar f tn I would try a period of time taking nothing, then a period of time taking just estrogen, and then a period of time with progesterone not estrogen. I think that standard HRT mimics the body's usual estrogen and progesterone (something like a small estrogen dose most of the month and a progesterone dose for 12 days) but every doc will have a different take.
Avatar f tn I did the saliva test, and results came back that I am estrogen dominant and dhea and prog. and test very low. So they pharmacist started me on 5 mg of dhea and also a progest. cream. I was good for 4 days and thought I found the cure. Until just last Wed all the way until today...that is 6 days....I started with severe cramps, pain in lower back, almost as if I was getting my menstrual cycle. Then came the Diarrhea and I am not talking one time....
20922415 tn?1661860103 Progesterone is one of the sexual hormones in the female bodies maintains and regulates sexual well-being. In males, it is produced in a small amount for sperm development. It is the main and vital hormone that plays a significant role in menstrual cycle health preparing the body for conception and development of pregnancy. 1.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. I am taking estrogen pills too with a estrogen patch every other day.
Avatar f tn I had a FET on October 7th and have been on estrogen patches plus taking estradiol pills. On Saturday my estrogen was 900+ so they said I could go from 3 patches a day to 2 patches a day. My estrogen level today (Monday) was 700-something. They said they will retest me on Thursday. UGH. I should be 6 weeks 5 days pregnant. Should my body be making enough of its own estrogen so that taking off one patch would not make the estrogen level drop???
178345 tn?1242536246 One of my doctors was having me experiment with less estrogen and a Huge (my opinion) amount of Progesterone. I needed to pull WAY back on the progesterone to where I am practically not ever using it... and, just change the patch on a regular basis. I also use a small amount of Testosterone (so that blood levels average out to about 40 or 42). Estrogen can play a big part in muscle/joint pain.
16702 tn?1234090645 Whole grains, fruits, seeds, beans and herbs all are know to have estrogen and/or progesterone activity. In general, any food that has been eaten by a culture or people group for centuries is probably all right to eat if the people group in question is relatively free from these estrogen related diseases. When referring to phytoestrogens, it is generally thought that a "weak" estrogen may actually be protective against cancer causing xenoestrogens.
Avatar f tn I was on vivelle patch for many, many years and ran into trouble just taking estrogen. What happened was my adrenals were having a hard time working and since everything was taken out during my hysto., I wasn't producing much progesterone. My adrenals started to steal progesterone and I started having daily anxiety and panic attacks among other symptoms. As soon as I was put on progesterone, anxiety got better. I'm on the road to recovery now but it's taking a bit of time.
429647 tn?1249753429 m on Activella which is a lowdose combination HRT pill (bio Estrogen but nonbio Progesterone)and feeling good on that. If you plan on starting HRT, consider starting on the lowest possible dose and see if that relieves your symptoms. When you change dose it can take a few months to even out and it is easier to work your way up than down in dose. There are pros and cons for HRT. Did you have your cancer tested for estrogen receptors? That can be a big factor in making a decision.
Avatar f tn I had the surgery and have been on the estradial patch for at least 5 years. I am on .1 and .5 patch every 4 days. I am now 40 and just went to a new doc and she was shocked I was on such a high dose. The previous doc did blood work and it showed I needed that much estrogen. Here is the scary part. She asked why I wasn't on progesterone and I said I didn't need it because I don't have a uterus. That is what every doctor told me in the past.
898000 tn?1242956625 I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days. wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Since then I have been on an estrogen patch and felt great for the first couple of months after the procedure. I began to experience low back pain; particularly in the morning. So severe at times that I can hardly bend to put on my shoes. I did gain 20lbs but I am still active at 46 years old. Is it possible to have a prolaspe bladder as I feel that there is something coming out of me. Also, when I have sneezed or coughed, I feel a ripping in my abdomin but does not hurt.
Avatar f tn He said this actually reduces breast cancer risks and tends to make heart healthier. the estrogen-progesterone combo is now thought to increase breast cancer risks and be unhealthy for the female heart. I had my tubes and ovaries out last Thursday, and personally I plan on not taking any hormones unless I develop symptoms i can not deal with. I am going to increase my calcium though, both with a supplement and in diet.
898974 tn?1244584828 Hello everyone, I had my embryo transfer on 4/13 and I have an appointment tomorrow for my blood tests (E2 and P4). I'm really scared. I only have 1 embryo transfer, my third and last IVF. I'm taking Delestrogen and Progesterone shots 2 wees before the transfer. What levels should be my E2 and P4 at during day 5? Please help.
938326 tn?1300878804 You definitely do not want to go on the shot if you are looking for something that is not long lasting. Been there done that, and it can take a long time to get out of your system. I only tried the ring for two months. I bled the entire time I was on it! When you say you cannot take the pill are you referring to combination pills or all pills? I cannot take combination pills (pills with both estrogen & progesterone), but I can take the mini pill (progesterone only pill).
Avatar f tn I take estrogen patch & medroxyprogesteron pill &also I have hot flashes. I'm only 33yrs old.
Avatar n tn I have sever hypothyroid and I did test my hormone test. My prolactin is incredibly high and my progesterone is lower than normal which is leading to high estrogen. To counteract my doctor recommended Progesterone.
Avatar m tn Has she has her thyroid checked? That's a common cause of the weight gain and possibly, hot flushes returning or getting worse after 10 years. Also to mention that a weight gain of so much weight also can be a cause of a heightening of the hot flushes. Fat stores estrogen and it's believed that estrogen is partially to blame for the hot flushes.
Avatar n tn Hi! I have low estrogen and normal FSH (I'm 38, though). My course of action is to wear an estrogen patch from 3 days after ovulation to 12 days after ovulation (since that's when mine is dropping off). I have heard of (and tried it once, but didn't like how I felt) that the patch can also be worn during CD8-12 to help with low estrogen. My acupuncturist told me that the patch is the most similar to actual estrogen (versus pills) so I pushed for that!
