Avatar f tn Is it save to use a vaginal estrogen insert? I am only 48 years old and married. We have tried everything OTC. This is difficult for me and for my husband. My doctor said he does not know if it is safe or not????? Thank You.
Avatar n tn Estrogen replacement? Depends entirely on your age. Check with your doctor about the problem. It almost seems like a non-hormonal lube might help.
Avatar f tn There's no OTC Estrogen only Progesterone which can convert to estrogen in the body. Dr. John Lee wrote one of the first books on Progesterone which explains that. It takes longer to work than Rx HRT but soon you should find relief from menopausal symptoms. I just wrote a blog on hot flashes. Check it out for some natural remedies including the progesterone.... www.sunflowerhw.
429647 tn?1249753429 My story - I was dx'd early stage 1A...in 2000, right ovary and tube removed, in 2004 they took the left ovary/tube and uterus....I was on estrodial....until 2006...guess what...I developed what they believe is an Ovarian Remnant Cyst...I am scanned every 3 months...scary, because can it be cancer, who knows....a 3 surgery carries very high risks....
Avatar m tn You might try OTC meds for menopause first or go back and see your GYN and as for low dose estrogen.
Avatar m tn I would like to take estrogen to help the menopause symptoms still driving me crazy one year after surgery and chemo for ovarian cancer stage 2c - I also had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy as I have a history of breast cancer in my family - I have heard the HRT can increase the incidence of OC but I am wondering if an estrogen patch would be safe as I have had my ovaries, uterus, tubes, cervix, and breasts removed surgically.
Avatar f tn can you buy an over the counter drug like premarin? i know that premarin is estrogen, so what med would i look for/ i thought maybe they had an otc brand. not the creams but pills. would i look in the vitamin section of my store? im sorry for all the questions.
Avatar n tn m taking large doses of DHEA, which is an OTC precursor to testasterone and estrogen. I feel a bit better, but not much. There are also several plants and herbs that act like estrogens in your body that might make you feel better, red clover tea is my favorite and tastes great. Since you don't have ovaries, you might want to balance these things with progesterone if your doctor will prescribe it, or get a OTC progesterone cream, but I'm not sure they are the best to use.
Avatar f tn Argh, I hope not. I've heard of using estrogen cream (OTC) which is supposed to be really helpful!
Avatar f tn And I do always worry about Breast Cancer links and supplemental hormones including and especially estrogen. There are some otc products that might help you better for hot flashes. This is all just my opinion.
Avatar n tn Estrogen doesn't cause breast cancer but it does feed it. If estrogen was the cause of breast cancer more young women would be being diagnosed with it when their estrogen levels are at their highest. Most diagnosis are made in post menopausal woman. There is one theory of thought that it may be estrone that really feeds breast cancer. Estrone is what our fat cells produce after menopause. Estradiol is what our ovaries made in our 20's and 30's.
Avatar f tn I have heard that estrogen can be prescribed if you are experiencing spotting while taking the depo shot. I just had my second shot and am still experiencing the spotting! It started a lot sooner than it did the first time i got the shot. My doctor (family and my gyno) both say to just ignore the spotting. Which is okay when it is not heavy, but I went on the depo shot because a friend had suggested it to me. She said she experienced bleeding after the shot and was prescribed estrogen for it.
Avatar f tn My estradiol went from less then 15 to 454. Not on any hormone therapy except for OTC Estroven. Hot flashes have stopped maybe because my estrogen has gone nuclear. Just had that level rechecked and waiting for results but doctor worried that something ovarian could be going on. Having a hard time finding any information on high estradiol levels. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn It's good it stopped. It's good you went back on the progesterone. Although OTC estrogen would seem to be too weak to affect fibroids or cause a too thick lining, best to play it safe and make sure you are getting the progesterone to counteract that.
Avatar f tn you can get OTC creams - they just have less of a %. I see an acupuncturist and he put me on a cream that is not RX compound and it's working. He felt I was estrogen dominant. I had a complete hysto. back in 84 and have only been on estrogen. Vivelle dot .05mg. Then I got anxiety - bad daily anxiety. After adding the progesterone, I'm seeing a big difference already - for the better.
2094545 tn?1335117731 Hello again, first I have to say how grateful I am for this forum. Simply cruising the forums q and a's has been extremely helpful. I do not have an official DX yet but I do expect it. I have had two serious exacerbations, (and I am pretty sure some small ones in between) including one resulting in ON, I also read the radiologists report from my MRI two weeks ago and there are confirmed enhancements. Anywho!
Avatar n tn Hello, Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cysts, endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance, cervicitis and cervical cancer. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals.
Avatar f tn I've had my female organs removed one at a time with a LSH in 2006, left oopheractomy in 2007 and right oopheractomy just two months ago in 2014. I awoke from my last surgery with a patch on and have used it as directed since. I use to get hormonal headaches every other month or so and was able to successfully treat them with one or two prescription pain pills for headaches.
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
Avatar n tn in regards to the rebound headaches they only will come if you take the otc drugs for long periods of time with taking more than 1 time a day. like i took excedrine, tylenol, ibprofin. and other otc drugs every 4-6 hours every day. and my dr. thought that i had rebound headaches but that has been disproven since then. but if i were you i would try to take 1 or 2 otc drugs just to see if they work.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in 2001. I was on estrogen for about 5 years. I stopped taking them in fear of cancer. Since that time, I have taken many different kinds of OTC herbal remedies to stop the hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, headaches and especially the weight gain. Nothing seems to help. I have gained 40 lbs since 2001 and I honestly can say I do not eat more than I did then, nor am I a junk food addict. I am cautious of what I eat...but nothing helps my problem.
Avatar f tn Burning mouth can be a symptom of low estrogen. Are you saying estrogen makes your burning mouth worse?
4364093 tn?1365869659 Thanks :) im only 20 weeks but was just thinking about it.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. You seem to be suffering from menstrual migraines. These migraines are triggered by falling estrogen levels in the body towards the end of the menstrual cycle. SAIDS like Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Naprosyn and Relafen provide relief. The medication should be started 2-3 days before the beginning of the periods and continued till the end of periods. Because the therapy is for short period, the risk of gastrointestinal side effects is very limited. Take care!
